Not yet. It could happen, but those kids have a lot of work ahead and a long, long road to tread to get there. UNC looked less formidable than in past years, but still and incredible team with incredible players.
National Championship? They played UNC for a half and then got killed. Against Duke they looked pretty good. I suspect they will improve over the rest of the year and end up around 14th give or take. which is a vast improvement over last years BS with the whole Izzo and Cleveland side show.
Come on Sparty, 0-2 to start the season. You guys are better than that. You shoul definitely win the next 3 against Texas Southern, Ark-Little Rock and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
With a fairly young team on the floor, the concern is more about dropping the first two games to those top ranked opponents. I don't think it affects Izzo at all, but it can affect the mind of a freshman. Considering the opposition, MSU is still probably the best 0-2 team in the country. Horrible shooting percentage on layups and dunks. They shot themselves in the foot completely.
Tom Izzo is simply a classy coach. He will have a successful year no matter. I believe that he has a good nucleus of players and the opening record isn't indicative of how good they will be later in the year.

To all those people saying Tom Crean wont have Indiana back as a national power can suck it. I have said all along Tom Crean (and Brian Gregory) were the big reasons MSU won the national championship. Not Tom Izzo. I took a lot of crap from people saying Crean wasnt that good well after cleaning houseand rebuilding he has Indiana with a win over #1. When was the last tom Izzo coached a win over a top 10 team? Crean is the real deal and I wish MSU would get rid of Izzo and bring Crean back home so we can win another title and build a dynasty.
Agreed HS2. I guess Crean and Gregory have been pulling double duty as assistants for Izzo while doing their own HC roles elsewhere. No way he keeps up the winning seasons otherwise.
For the clown that ripped Izzo, what happened to Gary Harris? Oh yeah he s going to State, hmm isnt he from Indiana, whats a matter the so much better Crean could not get him in his own backyard, Crean didnt get him because Izzo did.
Didn't Izzo beat Purdue last year when they were #9? So what is that about 15 games ago if you include last season? How many final four appearances does Crean have to his name? I believe one as a head coach. Indiana beating Kentucky just shows that the big ten is powerful from top to bottom. Crean WAS NOT on the team in 2000 so you saying that he is the reason why MSU won the title makes no sense! Also, take that fake logo off from your profile image.
I also find it amusing that under your "rankings" post you praise MSU yet you continue to bash them.
