Garth has made a plethera of moves, most under the radar, but he has gone thru the FA Dumpsters and pulled the likes of Moulson, Grabner (both loocked up for 3 years or more) and trading for Montoya and Ty Wishart.

Along with the years of solid drafts and late picks that are becoming High Quality Prospects such as Anders Lee, Kevin Pulin, ADN ISLES STARTING D MAN Andy MacDonald, Justin DiBenedetto and Casey Czikas.

Not to mention the following 1st, 2nd & 3rd rd picks: JT (No surprise there), Nino Neiderreiter, Strome, Hamonic, De haan, Brock Nelson, Mayfeild, Anders Nilsson, Kiril Kabanov, Johan Sundstrom, Corey Trivino, Aaron Ness, Mark Katic and Kiril Petrov.

And then reupping the core: Jt, KO, bailey, Grabner and Moulson!

Enough already, Islanders are still terrible and you shouldnt trust Garth especially after all the mistakes he's made. Come back when they have an NHL goalie, 6 defenseman....hell even 4 defenseman, and more than 1 line.

Its a fresh new start. The Islanders could have challenged, at least, for a Playoff spot last year if they didnt have that one prolific losing streak of 15 or so games. All they have to do is prevent that in 11-12 and they should challenge for #8 seed or even a #7.

Its all talk right now, for every team. But the Islanders are getting better.....slowly.

The concern I have as an Isles fan is who is in net? Its a 3 headed dragon with Evgeni Nabokov, Al Montoya and Rickety Dipietro. I have no idea what to think.

But I'm ready for puck drop on reg season...where the pts count.

well, angry Islanders hater/Bruins fan...i didnt mean the 3 headed dragon was a good thing, or that any teams should be afraid of it.

i want Dipietro to retire, Nabokov to be traded and Montoya to be #1.

Al Montoya was just fine in the NHL last year playing for the Islanders. He's no Tim Thonas, but he did just fine while he had the #1 spot.

Haha,,,False...The Islanders finished the season 20 points out of the last playoff spot. Even if they had won half of those games during that impressive losing streak, they still would not have made the playoffs. You could say this about any team really, if Carolina had not lost 5 straight in early December, they would have been a playoff team. You cant just ignore one whole month of a season.

The Isles are heading in the right direction, but that defense is just brutal. Streit is really good, but no respectable player wants to sign with NYI so Garth cant bring in free agents unless he drastically overpays them or unless no other teams wants the poor schmuck. Let's see how Montoya looks over an entire season before we all praise him further. Who knows what the Isles are going to do with Nabakov. But this team is still a bottom 5 team in the eastern conference until some of their younger guys full develop because they clearly arent bringing in players via free agency who will make any contribution.

New York had 586 man-games lost to injury last year, and if they can stay even moderately healthier this year, they could resemble their second-half stretch for a full season.

No, I just like watching hockey more than I like watching fight night. It's obvious that the Isels can't compete on the same skill level with the Pens (even with Sid and Malkin out) and have to resort to changing the games into brawls to compete with the Pens. Hopefully the Pens won't get sucked down to the level of the Isles' goons again this year.

news flash. Penguins had injuries all year, and they were one of the better teams in the league all year.
