DeLoss Dodds on playing Texas A&M out of conference: "That would be hard to schedule"

How so, Dodds? When A&M has made it perfectly clear they would keep the rivalry going in an out of conference game a la Florida-FSU, Clemson-Sout Carolina. How would it be tough to schedule? I'll break it down for you. Let's play Thanksgiving Day. Like we do every year. You get 3 out of conference games in the Big 12. So do we here at A&M. We already will be moving Arkansas from an OOC game to a conference opponent. That frees up a spot with us. You can play your one game versus Rice and another versus a team of new-borns for all I care. Then have the balls to schedule a game that isn't just a cakewalk for your players. Guess what? All that money that Texas gets from the game ain't so bad either. It's not scheduling, Dodds. It's something else.

I think Richard Justice summed it up quite nicely in a tweet: DeLoss Dodds confirms Texas is afraid to play A&M.

I have to agree Texas is scared and not only of losing but also being left all alone, the doors are closing fast on them.

It would not be hard at all to schedule the game.  If they are not afraid then tell us the truth as to why you don't want to schedule the game.  Saying it is to hard is just pathetic.

Either they are scared of something or else they are pouting like a 4 year old and taking their toys home. Who in their right mind would pass up a big money game like that with all the tradition involved unless they were scared of playing a tough OOC game or else being spitefull and childish because things didn't all go their way.

Wow -- in aggie style too -- yall SUCK!

Well this is the first of many send offs you will get from the Big 12--- LOL

And on National TV, too --- in front of your new conference

As tamu enters a new conference; football will become much worse, fan base will shrink, recruitment will suffer, academics will go even further in the toilet.

I see tamu becoming the whipping boy in the SEC -- like Ole siss -get used to your new roles--- boys.

I never imagined in all my life that tamu, a college full of tradition, would throw their honor away so cheaply -- a true disgrace.

Other Sports like baseball, basketball, track and womens sports will carry your football program.

I guess your emotions got in the way and you let some non-aggie admins throw your honor away. Never again will you be great.

Great in the sense that A & M used to have some standards-- that academics was #1-- this is over-- forever.

The worst thing about your move to the sec, is that you forgot the most important thing--- Of how at the end of each and every day that we are all Texans; first.

I will forever be ashamed of you---  and the words Texas A & M will go down in Texas History as the damned.

I will not post here again as I do not wish to associate with trash.

Way to support your fellow Texans d-bag. This isn't the tune you teasippers were singing to until we decided to bolt to the SEC.

I was expecting all the whornes come riding in on the I told you so band wagon. You know the other two teams that are in the cross-hairs of the SEC got KILLED yesterday and no one is bashing them. Arkansas got blown out yesterday and now I suppose that they should go ahead and accept tu's offer to join the Big 12 because the SEC is clearly too tough for Arkansas or A&M right? Where does that put tu?

As tamu enters a new conference; football will become much worse, fan base will shrink, recruitment will suffer, academics will go even further in the toilet.

This is the whole point of going to the SEC. The fan base has already grown significantly. First time that all non conference games were sold out. Season Tickets were sold out. Merchandising is through the roof. A&M's recruiting is already improving and Football will continue to improve. Academics really don't have anything to do with it.

I beg to differ. You probably checked at least three times since you posted waiting for someone to take the bait. Why don't you go find a Baylor fan and you can debate on how you should preserve the Texas rivalries...BTW didn't we offer to keep scheduling the tu game every year? It' not like our strength of schedule will suffer if we don't.

Going to the SEC will not hurt our fan base or our recruiting and I expect you to honor your word and stay away.  That is all I am going to say on this matter.

The Aggies couldn't compete with Texas, so they took their toys and left. They couldn't compete with Oklahoma, so they took their toys and left. They couldn't compete with Texas Tech or Baylor either recently, but they think they can compete in the SEC. It is going to be priceless to talk to an Aggie twenty years from now, When Texas is still at the top, and they haven't sniffed a conference championship since they left their big brother behind. Pooooooor Aggies!

Hmmm...I got a feeling you must have gotten your arse kicked by your kid sister alot when you were a little tyke buddy. Maybe you should have lifted weights or took a karate class and then you could have stood toe-to-toe with that kid sister of yours. A&M won 3 of the alst 5 and owns the series advanatge for the last 25 years and the last 35 years. Maybe you better stick to flogging the dog and leave the fighting to your kid sister.

This is a perfect example of why they should require people to pass some kind of I.Q. test before they are allowed to post on this board.

i don't think he meant it literally, as it would be logistically hard to schedule the game.  i think he meant, given what has ocurred it would be hard for him to overlook all that and continue to schedule the game.  call that pouting or sulking or whatever, and to some extent, that is exactly what it is.

that being said, and as much as i hate to see this game go away, i have to agree with dodds.  the ags got sick of texas being texas, so they decided to leave.  that hurts the conference, no two ways about it.  for every action there are consequences.  the consequence of texas being texas is the aggies leaving.  the consequence of the aggies leaving is texas not scheduling the game anymore.  believe it or not, texas has pride too, and to just keep playing the game like nothing happened....well i think pride prevents that.....at least in the short term.  kind of like getting dumped by your girlfriend for a better guy, and still going to dinner with her every month....not bloody likely.

that's as honest as i can be.  it's sad, but it is what it is.  good luck in the sec.
