for-the-SECs-Generosity.aspx

This gives you a pretty good ides about what the rest of the world and the SEC people think about all this whining, deragatory comments, downgrading,  and name calling the tu fans like whorn bone breath and his sidekicks the 3 Stooges are constantly cruising the boards and posting about.  Seems like to me that these nimrods ought to get over being butt hurt about A&M divorcing them and go about their business. if I was them I would be more concerned about that trip to the land of corn, hogs, and fat chicks this weekend instead of someone they consider so "insignificant".

My favorite one:

"you're an arrogant, 'butt hurt' fanbase trying too hard to appear happy about this."

LMBO...SOOOOOO TRUE!!!

Another point there that Enny, Miny, Miney, & Moe are either in denail of or oblivious to:

Whorn arrogance:

When Arkansas left the SWC, the whorns said "it's you, not us".
When Nebraska left. whorn said "it's you, not us".
When Colorado left. whorn said "it's you, not us".

And finally when A&M left they say the same thing. Pretty friggin weak.

ROFL A&M offers to clear schedule anytime anywhere and UT tucks its tail between its legs and refuses to play HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Have fun playing your D2 non-conference schedule in the Big 8.

Going to the SEC will not hurt our fan base or our recruiting and I expect you to honor your word and stay away.  That is all I am going to say on this matter.
Recruiting will sky rocket. There are tons of bluechips that would rather play in the best conference in the nation rather than the Big 12 and stay in state or close. So that alone will bring in a few top Texas and surrounding state recruits each year. I think A&M will see a big increase in quality of recruits in all sports quickly.

I just think it's sad Texas feels like the have to "punish" Texas A&M by not playing this game. Our fans will be just fine without the game (we've got a lot of good ones on our hands with the SEC), but other than Texas being petty I can't think of one reason why this game can't be played. A lot of rivalry games are played....Iowa-Iowa State, Florida-FSU, South Carolina-Clemson without conference implications. Why? Because they are fun. The generate excitement and revenue. And it's tradition.

Texas decided it's more important to hold onto it's joke of an OOC schedule. And let's be real, besides OU or OSU, they don't really want to have to play anybody anyways.

houstros,

I totally agree with your first paragraph.  I'm a little embarrassed by my schools actions.  You are 100% correct.  It’s not about Texas being scared, it’s about Texas attempting to punish Texas ATM.  Once again, money becomes the driving factor over football and traditions.  This is growing trend that is becoming more of the standard then the occasionally occurrence. It's not like we need the money from this LNN.  I keep waiting for the NCAA to step in, but then I remember they are making more money from all this as well.  Silly me.

With that said, I do think there should be some kind of balance with conference revenue, but the schools that bring in the most money should probably get a little more of it, but I’m also a republican.  What’s a little more?  I don’t know, but there has to be some reward for being successful.

Now your second paragraph, I have to respectfully disagree.  My wife is an Aggie and I follow both schools pretty closely.  I have the utmost respect for Texas ATM.  Your tradition, facilities, and your people are second to none.  I've been to your stadium many times and have always been treated respectfully.  Back to scheduling.  I have noticed over the years that ATM has had some pretty weak ooc schedules as well.  WE’RE ALL guilty of this.  Why?  It’s because it’s all about wins vs losses.  Should strength of schedule be more important when it comes to rankings and NC games?  Absolutely! Texas ATM is getting ready to find out how important this is going to be.  Your strength of schedule is getting ready to go through the roof.  It is going to be tough.  It would be tough for anyone.  You are going to the strongest conference in the land and unfortunately it’s still about winning games.  You almost have to go undefeated to have a chance at the NC game.  You can get away with one loss and still play in the NC game, but your loss can’t be late in the season.  If you are going to lose, do it early.   Believe it or not, I still hold some hope that Texas comes to their senses and works something out with ATM so they will do what TCU did.  Forget going to the other conference and come back to the Big 12.  Not going to happen, but I still hope so.  I'm going to miss you guys.  It's just a crying shame to lose this rivalry.

P.S. Again, I don't want to bash Texas ATM.  Great school, great traditions.  I can't anyway without paying a very expensive price.  My wife still controls something very important to me.  :)

Phantom

I think you are onw of the most level headed longhorn on CBS.  I love to read your post, because you are a litlle biased in favor of tu (but who isn't biased to their school).  I still think you have the most realistic thought of some of your "brethren."  Keep on posting here, I know I am glad to see you.

lol @ Phantom. You haven't been married long enough.

I believe that the rivalry will go away for a couple of years until people start missing how much money it generates. It might spark back up with a chance meeting at a bowl game or something. But it will be back.

What people don't really understand is that not playing Texas can hurt Texas even more than playing them.  Texas is faced with two choices:

1.  Play A&M every year and likely struggle against a battle hardened SEC team...or...
2.  Play A&M every five years or during bowl seasons.

They have chosen option 1.  What most Ag's don't see, is that actually this option can be extremely awesome for the Aggies should Texas lose to A&M on a very national stage during bowl season.  What millions of dollars of marketing money can't do, a bowl win over the Longhorns COULD do in an instant.

Realize, that more than likely, the next time Texas and A&M meet, Texas will have an undefeated season (or close to it) on the line. You people want a real rivalry?  Beat Texas when they have a BCS game on the line while the entire country is watching.  That's the way to do it.

That's is the way to change who owns Texas football, for a decade or longer.  Texas fans are so wrapped up in punishing A&M, they don't even realize what game is actually being played here.  A&M wants to change the game forever during bowl season and most fans don't even get what is happening.

One thing's for sure, the next time the teams meet, their won't be much question about whether there is a rivalry or not.
