Agree with winggin. Nick Johnson had moments, but I actually thought he played better in nonconference than conference games, meaning he got no better as the season went on, and regressed if anything. Now if one of the recruits turns into a D-will, different story. Also could be a different story as teams fiigured out how to defend us w/o a post game late in the year, and that should be fixed if the recruits turn out ok. I have just seen to many 5 stars be just OK (Shakur, Turner) and 3 stars be great.
Nick Johnson played fine. Though struggled with confidence. He's naturally trying to get others involved before allowing himself the glory. But look for a more confident, mature, and above all, a leader next season. Him and York will be crazy good together. Zona will be a very tough team to defeat.
Nate, zona was no better last year. It will be nice though that when we play next year it will be for much higher stakes as it should be for both of us in the Pac-12.
bruins38 - I'm just thinking for the both of us and our programs it will be great to see us competing and fighting for the PAC 12 title next year and hopfully both going deep in to March Madness - Best Wishes but got to go Bear Down Arizona
I miss the Arizona Stanford rivalry myself. Loved the 2001 game when Michael Wright got that last second layup when the Cardinal were #1. Agree on post play. It's going to be wonderful to finally have size again. I hope and pray it's GOOD size. As for N Johnson, he did regress, but what I liked about him was he did what Miller told him to do and he buckled down on defense when he needed to (had some nice blocks as well). I think he is really going to evolve. With the possibility of Lyons coming in and the dark horse Ju-co and the Duq. transfer, things look bright in the desert again. Not expecting a whole lot this season, but we'll definitely see what Miller does with a high class
OK - don't get the new top 25 by Parrish going in to this season. If we have the #1-3 recruiting class coming in with the boys that are returning, why is UCLA 10th and Arizona 21st? Any ideas?
Pre season ranking are pretty useless anyway. Lets not forget the team was ranked last preseason and we see how accurate that was. Its where the team ends up at the end of the season that I'll pay attention to.
Again, not expecting much this upcoming season, but I'm growing slowly anxious to see what they can do. Arizona and Notre Dame both have stellar classes and eligibilities hitting the right times. This could be a fun year
