burf....your question about why other teams don't want Ryan Raburn as a DH is a good point. (Assuming the Tigers care to trade/release him). A simple answer might be - look at all the other DH-types still available. Vlad, Damon, Abreu avaiable by trade, etc. Teams that want to create headlines/fan interest, will jump on these guys before they get interested in a Raburn type of DH....even though RR would probably give you more offense per $ than the "name" DHers out there and still play a position, if needed.

A smart GM should grab a Raburn over a Vlad....if they are looking for a DH. Unfortunately, they won't. They'd rather pay a Vlad or Damon rather than paying an "unknown" like Raburn. Better PR.

Point taken about the headlines ect....but you have made the point before a lot of this is driven by money but sometime you have try to win. In the off season you pick up some lesser known, Raburn, and not have to worry about fan interest. Some of the guys you mentioned that are still out there are about done and they still want big money. They may still be out there when the season starts.

FYI Delmon hit a three run homer today. Tigers up 3-0 in 3rd. Raburn is playing second.

"See cleaves....this is why I take you as a fool"

who cares, youre a lonely old man who sits on his computer trying to get attention giving threats like "ill kick you in your nads"....when in all reality, you wouldnt do chit! all talk!

"And I was the ONLY one, cleaves???? (shakes head sadly)"

actually you were the only one on that thread that said they had NO chance or ZERO chance.....remember i told you my friend from muskegon had said it was all over the talk radio shows....and you came back with your friend out of petoskey, telling you something..dont know what it was, you know news travels slow to petoskey, so i guess he was out of the loop....people said we didnt need fielder, BUT you were the only one who shot down i think the poster was "hotness", when they brought the idea up of signing fielder.....in fact you made them sound dumb for even bringing up the idea of fielder on the Tigers.....just like Nate McLouth is from muskegon huh........but god forbid you call a "manager" a "coach', or god forbid you talk baseball if you dont have an avatar to do with baseball.......i was told by you iffy that i knew nothing about baseball vbecause of my avatar.

"I will have to say that your responses today have to put you near the bottom of the ladder"

why because i didnt agree with you? or was it because i pointed out your mistakes? ..either way it goes i could care less what a diamondback has to say...(((insert your crafty tiger name-dropping from the 1950's or 60's to let us all know that you DID watch the tigers once)))

"  Go look up and compare the offensive and defensive performances of Ryan Raburn and John Wockenfuss."

i actually liked wockenfuss......good role player......dont think he ever played in 113+ games a season 3 years in a row though.

"Until last year, Raburn was used in a role to give others a break or used as a player to fill in if someone was injured.  Last year was the 1st time they made him an everyday player and like clockwork, he struggled in the 1st half of the season."

im not saying raburn is the worst tiger ever.....i was just stating if muzzer believes that, that is his opinion....everyone has had tigers they have hated....i hated bill fahey because i was such a big parrish fan and i hated when parrish sat....hated enos cabell.......hated Eric Munson.....

raburn only batted a few more times last year then what he did in 2010.....seems tome he has played alot in the last 2 years....in fact hes played in 113+ games in 3 straight years......i also tend to believe his numbers dont prove anything more than inconsistency......i remember alot of his HR's being hit when we are winning or losing by alot.......clutch AB's always seem to end in a KO....i remember one AB that he came through...last year in the comeback vs the White Sox...but he always kills the sox......we wont even get into his fielding issues.....6 errors in the OF last year?  he had 10 errors in 56 games at the easiest infield position of 2B.....i like the stat of him playing 3B....5 errors in his last 12 games played there.....no matter where you put him he is a liability.....funny how certain people are all anti fielder because miggy has to move to 3B.......id rather have miggy at 3B then raburn anyday....it is what it is.....raburn is no more than a role player that leyland plays alot...and to say you dont notice raburn batting 2nd or 3rd is crazy.....raburn seems to always find them 2 spots...yes he bats lower but he has batted at the top alot.

" And cleaves, if you use the phrase, "I seen with my own two eyes 2 years ago...",,,I will kick you in the nads.

all i want for xmas is this old man to just try and kick me ANYWHERE!.....another old tuff guy on the net.

"  explain to me again how raburn is untradeable?"

hes still with the tigers isnt he?

"  They'd rather pay a Vlad or Damon rather than paying an "unknown" like Raburn. Better PR. "

wouldnt signing jhonny damon be bad PR?....i know nobody in detroit wanted him before or after the signing of fielder.....oh except for u iffy!

on another note......how has miggy been handling 3B?  havent seen any games yet...i see we are off to a great start.......cant wait till fielder and miggy make all the non-believing tiger fans BELIEVE!

lol. Is that the vision you "seen"?

Hey burf....what was that you said about ME belittling people who disagree? I sure can't hold a candle to the 'vicious attacks' that cleaves uses! lol. cleaves - I will never be bitter as long as I have the comedy posts you produce that keep me laughing outloud.

BTW - did you ever find that post you claimed I made comparing Raburn with Al Kaline? Keep looking.

Sorry about the nads threat...but your use of "seen", in the contacts you used it, is sort of the fingernails on the blackboard thing for me. [Past tense of seen is saw]

Pall Malls?????? They don't still make those do they?

cleaves....just for you.

Iffster is not much like his logo. I have a full head of hair that reaches well past my shoulders. While I admit to some graying, it is no where near white. I wear clean boxers, not briefs....since that appears important to you. LOL....yes I often sit in front of my 'CPU' (say what?) because it beats standing. I have a fresh cup of coffee in the morning, if my wife makes it. No more than one! I don't use tobacco in any form and really never have...except for brief flirtations with it in high school. And, as I said - there is too much to laugh about in this world to be bitter.

Did I forget to mention that I am very handsome and intelligent?????

my fault.....i figured you knew sarcasm since you seem to always use sarcasm in your post's.

"...but your use of "seen", in the contacts you used it, is sort of the fingernails on the blackboard thing for me. [Past tense of seen is saw]"

are you kidding me? what are we in english class?

"look at all the other DH-types still available. Vlad, Damon, Abreu avaiable by "

its "AVAILABLE" ....SINCE WE ARE IN ENGLISH CLASS AND GRADING PAPERS NOW......i guess when you cant critisize someones baseball knowledge, you have to break down their grammar?

OK how about....i have SEEN many tools before, but i never SAW one as big as iffy?

"I will never be bitter as long as I have the comedy posts you produce that keep me laughing outloud."

you could win the 100 million dollar lotto and still be bitter..your daily routine of life itself proves you are a bitter and angry old man....do you EVER leave the house? have any "REAL" friends? last year your main goal in life was to over-take muzzer for the detroit line-up thread...i also notice....you sure dont post much on the arizona boards.....not many people over there to feed the fuel for your fire of attention?

lmao. Wow. That hurt. But, I 'seen' it coming.

The AZ board did have one guy a while ago, that spent most of his time calling all D'Backs fans stupid. Wrote extremely long posts about certain posters, giving his opinions of their lifestyle, personalities, looks, etc. Everyone just laughed at him. It would have been acceptable, accept he never bothered to post anything constructive about the game or players, just silly nonsense.

That's a different kind of funny. Raburns error makes me want to vomit and laugh at the same time. If the Tigers could guarntee me a lock of the #1 seed going into the Playoffs, then by all means start Raburn 162 games a year. This would make for some good laughs but not at the cost of a pennant.

FORT WORTH (AP) - Just a bit inside.

TCU and Baylor pitchers combined for an NCAA single-game record by hitting 13 batters with pitches Tuesday night.

Horned Frogs pitchers matched the record 10 by one team in their 9-4 victory. Three TCU batters were also hit by pitches.

There were more batters hit by pitches than hits (12). There were also a combined 11 walks in the game that took 3 hours, 53 minutes to play.

Baylor leadoff batter Nathan Orf was hit by three different pitchers. TCU starter Brandon Finnegan threw 4 2-3 innings of no-hit ball, but hit six batters.

The previous record of 12 combined hit batters had been done twice, by South Florida and UCF in 2008 and Nevada and New Mexico State in 1997.

Heard this on a sports channel driving back from the airport today. Thought it was funny, kinda wish I saw that game. When asked if there was any charging of the mound etc. Apparently not becuase it never made ESPN or any other outlet.
