Is this all they are--a .500 team? It's great to watch Patch fly around the ice.

With Patch out, they need more shots from Gionta and Cammalleri! Will one of them rise to the occasion?

Who's gonna be the new G.M? He should go first or at least at the same time as Martin. He's overseen this team even when Gainey was there. Do they bring in Pierre McGuire and see if he knows as much as he thinks he does? He's well connected and passionate! More than can be said for Gauthier! Who does he bring in as coach then? If he has to be bi-lingual then who's on the list? I say screw the bilingual part and bring in Carlye. They need a no-nonsense guy for a while!

Great idea genius!

Screw the Francophones that make up 85% of the population and alienate those who have been overwhelmingly supporting the team for over a century! Great business plan there Einstein.

And while we are at it why don't we just put a unilingual Latino as the assistant coach just to piss Anglophones off as well?

BRAVO

Ah ok smart guy, you like being a .500 team and just scraping into the playoffs better? You are the bright one for sure. It's funny that no one cared about having an English coach in the late 70's when they were winning cups!
Why would anyone care what language he speaks if he's the best coach available.
It's because of morons like you that they're forced into choosing a coach from a much smaller pool.

BRAVO to you

Guys, guys. The team is in decent shape--they don't need an overhaul. They just need someone to replace Markov and add another scorer who doesn't mind finishing his checks. Someone like the Pens' Neal.

I now feel that they should do what any incomplete team should do...fight for the draft lottery. I have officially given up hope that the Canadiens can do anything good this year. It is time to accept that it is not going to be a playoff year and we need the best draft pick we can get. I have felt this way since they got Kaberle. I feel that the holes on D are not holes anymore, they are blue line wide gaps. I just feel bad for Carey.

Hey mr. big business,

Don't look now but the Habs made an anglophone the interm coach! Gee, do you think that anyone will go to the Bell center now? Is anyone alienated yet?
Obviously you really have your finger on the pulse of the city and province living in MA.

Once again, BRAVO

Why fire the coach then?! If this was going to happen, why not two weeks earlier?! And with a good coach to replace Martin. I thought the team was just starting to come around... they actually had a winning record and starting to show promise!

In my 60 years of rooting for the Canadiens I have never seen such a mess.  Management has lost control of the players and the players have given up because of that.  The owner a should fire everyone from the President, GM all the way down to the stick boy.  In case you didn't get it I'm disgusted with the whole thing.

They need a plan and they simply don't have one.  It likely starts with ownership and trickles downward.  The plan should give them their identity on and off the ice.  I am a Bruins fan, but see the Canadiens as a long term rival, and having them down and out is not good for the Bruins either... or the NHL.  They totally need a hockey system reflective of their old traditions, and right now it looks like a bunch of players playing pickup... no plan whatsoever.

Cleaning house would likely be a great start, and ownership need to be more concerned about hockey than beer sales.

Hey Francophone Hater ms67, like the nice coach change you were whining and bitching for? 0-5? Lucky it wasn't a French coach you'd burn down the Parliament again as the '' Angry Anglos '' did in  1849! Everyone IS alienated across the whole Province all the way to the Natiuonal Assembly. You also ''really have your finger on the pulse of the city'' by demanding for a panicky short term fix to a long-term problem.

Nice call there country boy! Let's look on the bright side, now we went from a playoff spot with Jacques Martin to a possible top ten draft pick with your unilingual ''Cunny''!

Continue ton bon travail on commence enfin à ressembler aux Les Leafs, les idoles de ta communauté anglophone si chère!

Hmmm Francophone hater? I'll have to tell that to my unilingual FRENCH wife! She's unaware that I hate Francophones. By the way, we weren't in a playoff spot when they fired Martin...and if you recall I wanted a complete house cleaning.
Not everyone is alienated...actual Habs fans don't care what languge is spoken....the uproar of all this is about extremists looking for anything to complain about...if you actually lived here you might know this.
There was nothing panicky about changing coaches...should of been the G.M as well....that will come at the end of the year.

En passent mon ti cue, je connais pas UNE personne qui aimes les maudit Leafs de Toronto....pis toi, tu peux mange la m......

Can Montreal fans please acknowledge the fact that Pierre Gauthier has done a terrible job w/ this team and should be fired? Amazing how his job seems to be somewhat safe while this coaching controversy nonsense gets the headlines. Scotty Bowman isnt winning with this roster.
