Since it is the season of wishful thinking which 4 recruits do you think Michigan will finish their 2012 class with?
There are many to choose from but try to pick 4 recruits they really have a shot at.
Stefon Diggs- Need position at WR and strong ties with Michigan (Countess)
Josh Garnett- OL He seems like Michigan is the school for him!
Greg Garmon- Surprise pick but need position of RB/Athelete.. (Don't think we get Dunn I think he would COMMITED already)
Javonte Magee- Another off the rader guy but fills the need of DT..
Just thought it would be fun to see what people think we will end up with. These are names that are thinking truly of coming to Michigan and fill the needs of the 2012 recruiting class.
Happy Posting!!
GO BLUE!!
I'll call this my Wish List Within Reason:
Yuri Wright
Stefon Diggs
Josh Garnett
Pharoah Brown (I hope fences are mended)
THe others are speed positions (QB excepted). Giving the incoming recruits on the OL a year to grow and develop and get out ahead of the future spot-light players makes sense to me. 3stars can look like 5stars when they get big holes to run through. So my wish list has 2 more major OL talents. Walking into the homes of class of '13 and '14 5star prospects and letting them know they'll have a carreer making OL opening holes and defending against the pass rush seems like it'd be a major selling point.True freshman O-Linemen never start at a school like U-M. For all the reasons coyote said. Of all the great OL's that U-M has had through the years, if they started as freshman, they were redshirt freshman. That includes Long, Hutchinson, and any other OL you can think of. I don't see any true freshman in there next year either. Bryant should replace Huyge in the mix, and Khoury or Miller should replace Molk. Otherwise it's the exact same mix of guys as this year (Lewan, Omameh, Schofield, Barnum, and Mealer).
My feeling is that, yes, we needed to recruit OL, but I believe we have already done that. We have 5 (or 6 depending on Williams' position) OL’s already committed for 2012, including three 4 or 5 stars. That’s plenty, especially when considering we have Bryant and Miller from the 2011 recruiting class. In 2013 we should then get another 4 or 5, and I would think that would be the normal cycle going forward. College recruiting is about balance since guys at all positions only get 4 years of eligibility. Yes we needed to get OL, DL, and LB in here as Hoke took over because RR neglected those areas. But with the exception of maybe another big DT or two (and I know Hoke is still working on that), he has taken care of those positions now between the 2011 and 2012 recruiting classes. The hole going forward is now at the offensive skill positions, WR and RB. A good WR could come in here and depending on how things shake out may even get real playing time next year. A RB is needed for depth in case of injury to Fitz or Rawls, and for the future.
Via DGDestroys twitter, Michigan has started to get back in to things with cornerback Yuri Wright. "Yuri Wright, says Michigan is the school he's always wanted to go to and that they'll definitely get a visit. That was from back in August. I've read some of his tweets from boards and think it comes down to Michigan, Colorado or Georgia. He seems to really like Michigan and has a visit like the 2nd week of January to AA. Prime time to pull a recruit just before signing day. I have a gut feeling Yuri will be Blue.
