Could Robbie Hummel kick Glenn Robinson (10th) out from the top ten Purdue scoring list? E'Twaun Moore (3rd) and JaJuan Johnson (7th) each made it in the top ten last season. As of now at 11-3 in the 2012 season, Hummel has 1,442 career points. The Big Dog left Purdue after two seasons with 1,706 points. That leaves Hummel needing 264 more points. With at least 18 more games this season, he will have to average at least 14.6 points per game from this point on and about 15 per game on the season. It seems highly likely after doing the math that it's going to happen.
Even though he has been regularly scoring in double figures so far this season, I have a feeling he has had a cold hand so far. I do believe the threes will be back in his favor, and the inside shots will fall in his favor at a higher percentage. He has to make more attempts from close in to draw fouls and get to the line.
I agree it would be great to get three from the same recruiting class in the top ten scoring ranks.
His field goal percentage has dropped much. In order for him to be complete, he needs to get to the line more. He's already showing signs on rebounding improvment. He'll get better and better as the season goes.
Hummel passed 1500 career pts in the Iowa @ Purdue matchup, but 0 - 11 from the field in the Boiler at Sparty contest was disappointing for him, you could see it in his face. It was not so much Mich ST defense as it was just a cold hand. It almost appeared the Spartans stopped guarding him from beyond the arc.
Well, he's officially averaging 10.7 points per game in conference play and under 16 on the season. There's no way he will stay in a slump like he is in now. Shooting 34% from the floor in the last eight games!
Robbie went from being a likeably top ten player to being voted off of the top 24 Wooden and Naismith Watch lists. His struggles with his shot may effect this poll, as well!
Looks like he is only 2 points behind the Big Dog now. One three pointer against IU and he will have the ten spot. If he has a great Big Ten Tourney and goes deep in the NCAA, he could get close to JJ.
