Knicks Steam Room

January 5, 2012 8:15 pm

Come one and come all to the Knicks Steam Room.

You can come here anytime and talk about whatever you want Knicks related. You can come here to releave "steam" that the Knicks are causing us. It's kinda weird, the Knicks have soooooo much potential but they never seem to live up to their potential. Fans, players, and coaches should all be scared of what this team could become if we get the chemistry and timing down. It is still a work in progress to get that going and it won't just click overnight.
With the shortened season, (66 games), everyone is important so this is a nice lounge to chat all the drama that is New York Knicks basketball.
NOTE: Clyde Frazier quotes are always welcome. Smile

D'Antoni said he may go with Shumpert in the starting lineup on friday against the Wizards.
I don't know if I want to push this kid after he reinjured his knee last night.

Well, it's clear we need Baron Davis "Swishin and Dishin" out there.

Baron Davis is a respectable good guard when healthy, Unfortunately he can't stay healthy at this stage in his career.  Even if he was able to play now though I still only see a mild improvement to the team with all the other problems.

Walsh left this team because of a Melo trade that he didn't want to happen the way it did.  Thank Dolan and his priority hunger for cable ratings by bringing a big name in at ALL COSTS to the team.

D'antoni is a lost cause for this team nowadays as well, they might as well try a new manager out soon because its obvious D'antoni's lost touch with the players. And other than Chandler we're still getting the same inconsistent to nonexistant defense from the rest of the team.

You guys have to read this......LOL

Baron Davis' injury took on a painful new meaning Wednesday, when the Charlotte Observer reported the Knicks' injuries entering Wednesday night's game against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Davis, who has yet to debut in a blue and orange uniform, was listed as "recovering from a herniated d*ck." Of course, the Observer intended to write Davis is recovering from a herniated disk.

The newly acquired Knick point guard took it to his Twitter account to clear up any confusion about why he hasn’t suited up since signing with the Knicks days after being waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

When Davis gets healthy, he will be a big part of our offense. Then he will be and dishining and swishing.

For those who are unaware, here are some Clyde Frazier quotes:
"dishing and swishing"
"swooping and hooping"
"bounding and astounding"
"movin' and groovin'"
"out-muscling and out-hustling"
"shaking and baking"
"spinning and winning"
"posting and toasting"
"stumbling and bumbling"
"banking and thanking"
"hustling and muscling"
"slicing and dicing!"
"huffing and puffing"
"stopping and popping"
"hanging and banging"

He didn't reinjure anything, it was cramps in his other leg. I'm all for the Shumpster to be the starting 2 guard, the kid can straight up ball, easily the best rookie the Knicks have had since David Lee.

I agree, but they aren't going to start him.  Still he needs major minutes.  He may already be our best guard.  I'm not sure if that means he's going to be good or that's just how crummy our guards are, but it's still true.

I saw an article about a possible trade between the Knicks and Magic. The trade would include Amare and Chandler for Howard. I know Howard is the best center in the league by far, but I don't want to give up Amare and Chandler.

What do you guys think?

I like both Amare and Tyson, but push comes to shove and the Knicks keep playing under or around .500, I'm making this trade. I understand the Knicks just signed Amare and he helped bring them back to relevance last year, but that doesn't mean people should feel sorry for him if he gets traded like some reporters want to suggest we should.  A big part about why Amare came to NY in the beginning anyway was the big $ and long term contract he was given, and he wil still be locked into all that elsewhere.

Ideally I'd rather the Knicks offer up Fields, Harrelson, Amare...or some package like that instead of giving up Chandler but I don't think Orlando would go for it.

So should we give up both Amare and Tyson?  Depends on if Howard would be willing to sign a new contract with the Knicks immediately or not. If he is willing to then yes, the trade is fine.

Howard is also being pushed by Adidas to go to NY or LA because they want to start a legit marketing and sales war with Nike.  This would likely mean more dough for Howard if he agrees to go to the Knicks and sign.

A few more notes:

-The Knicks barely won last night but it's nothing to brag about considering the winless last placed Wizards led by 16 at a couple points throughout the game and took the Knicks to the limit.  What are the Knicks gonna do when they face the real teams?

-Amare Stoudemire is from Florida so another reason why a trade there wouldn't be all that hard on him.

-The Nets have a pathetic team again and Deron Williams will likely not sign to stay there. So if the Knicks trade for Howard a get rid of Amare's and Chandler's big contracts, they'll likely have enough room to sign both Howard and Williams(or at minimum another very good guard)

Either way our gaurd play will have to improve and our bench. I still think that whatever team takes Turks contract will get Howard. Bottom line, I'd do the AMARE and Chandler Trade in a heartbeat and see what we get from B DIDDY (Not too excited about it). If B DIDDY is balling then we go after a shooting guard in the off season with the money we saved from Chandler. If not we go after Felton or D WILL.

Except you don't have that money because you now have Howard's number to replace Amare's number and Turgolu's bad contract.  That means you don't have cap space to add another legitimate player.  Can we please let this group work it out for a while before we are ready to blow it up.  It's been 8 games, and we've won half.  It could be worse.  Settle down with the D12 talk.

I like Shumpert as well, and feel he will be starting by the time B Davis can play. I want to see what they look like then. I don't want to see Amar'e traded, and would only want to see a trade that would send Chandler, Fields, and maybe a Toney Douglas for Howard. And no Turk

Changing the subject from the bogus trade rumor, the Magic ain't doing it! Bottom line! I took a look at Boston's schedule, did anyone else notice the amount of days in-between games they have. Just look at teh 5 day break they are getting now and unless I missed something, I don't see any back to back to back games on their schedule. Looks like the NBA took care of the Celtics, thinking about their age, etc... Anyone else "steamed" about that?

For the trade to work, they would need to send out Amare and Tyson and they would get Howard and Turk's contract. Moving away from the trade talks, I'll talk scheduling.

The C's dont have any games 3 days in a row. The Knicks have 1 such trio of games. The Knicks need to get the continuity (Clyde Frazier word) down and when that happens, they will be clicking like the C's have been the past few years.

STOMP.....I am "steamed" about that. LOL

vcfHarrelson is a nice role player and I like that his range extends past the 3 point line.  So far so good tonight.  I know Philly is playing their 3rd game in 3 nights, but the defense has been excellent.  Amare is playing well too.

100% agree w/ you NAVY.  The thing is, Harrelson is so inconsistant. He will have a 15 point game and then he wont have any points. He needs to hit the jumper consistantly.
Also, I noticed the defense last night was intense. A lot of turnovers and steals. We only gave up 79 points. Chandler is bringing something the Knicks havn't had since the days of Oakley and Ewing. Defense from the big man.
