Early Thoughts on the Cowboy Draft

I have to agree with Sampson on this one. We have WAY too many other issues than who is our 3rd WR. And, yes on this team, Robinson would be #3 next year behind Miles and Dez. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to have him back, but we have very limited funds and if Jerry were to find some money, he should spend it on a Guard. If there is anything left, it must go to the defense.

Put it this way, which option would you rather have:

Laurent Robinson as #3 WR and Alan Ball as #4 CB

or

Kevin Ogletree as #3 WR and 2nd round draft pick as #4 CB because you signed Carlos Rogers as #1/#2 CB

Give me option #2 all day and twice on Sundays!!!

Hate to flipflop on you but rumor is that Dez was arrested in Florida for fighting at a nightclub last night.  I'm starting to think they need to show Laurent Robinson the money and show Dez the door.

Don't get stuck on a number Axe.  My point is exactly what Padak is saying.  Teams overpay for free agents every year.

Yeah, they do. And Robinson certainly helped himself with the year he had, plus he's got a bit of leverage seeing how weak Dallas' WR corps is behind Austin and Knucklehead Bryant.

But I'll ask a serious question: do you really see someone offering Robinson (bascially a one-hit wonder) a 5-year, $50 million deal? $10 mil per is what guys like Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston, and DeSean Jackson will be looking at; not sure if Robinson has put himself in that company with just one preductive year to his name.

Heck if I know.  Miles Austin got over $50 million after one good year.

A legitimate point. Though Austin was "home-grown" talent who developed, and not a guy who scuffed around on three teams before emerging.

Guess maybe I'm whistling past the graveyard a bit -- with Miles and Dez around he's still our #3 guy, and I don't want to see someone throw a ton of money at a #3...
