Yankees new Rotation

Mecca,
I will give you Eli Manning and Derek Jeter, but Carmelo has yet to prove anything other than that teams get better without him.  I am a huge SU Orange BB fan and therefore I am a Knicks fan, but I will tell you this.  The Knicks will probably win more games while he is out for the next two weeks than they won while he was playing for the last two weeks.  Hey, I love the guy.  He led Syracuse to their first NCAA Championship under Boeheim.  It was a long time coming, but if Hakim Warrick does not block that 3 at the end of the game, it could have gone the "Indiana" way just like '87.  I want the Knicks to win a championship.  I want Melo to succeed as much as Dwyane Wade, but that is not going to happen until he turns into the leader that his team needs him to be.

So how are your Yankees and their new rotation going to do against the brutal starters the Rays have assembled this season?  Time will tell.  I noticed you didn't include any Yankees pitchers on your short list.  What about Mo Rivera?  He is about the most clutch player I have ever seen.

Yankees new Rotation

The Rays have a nice young team but if you think that their rotation that much better, if at all, than New York's after the acquisitions of Pineda and Kuroda then you're obviously a Rays fan. Sabathia is better than Price or Shields, I would put Price at the top just because Shields needs to prove he can be consistent after 2 bad years then he did pitch very well last season. Price has yet to live up to expectations but could still live up to the hype that is now being dropped on Matt Moore, who has one career start. Hellickson pitched as good as he possibly could and was extremely lucky with a non sustainable BABIP so his numbers will most likely go up. Then at #5 Davis, who stinks and Neimann, who is injury prone and inconsistent. The Yankees have Sabathia, proven innings eater and as consistent as you get will put up close to 20 wins, 220 IP, an ERA in the low 3's and over 200 Ks, Pineda is going to be a monster, he was lights out in the first half and slowed in his first big league season which is to be expected. That won't happen as he gets use to the workload. Kuroda is very consistent and has the makeup to pitch in New York and Nova has already proven he can handle it as well. That leaves Garcia, Hughes or one of the young guys, Bettances or Buenulos at 5. The Yankees are also better at every position besides 3rd base and will definitely have a better offense than Tampa. I don't think that puts Tampa in the driver seat in the division and calling the Yankees rotation suspect when the Rays have such a young rotation is just ignorant.

THM23.  I disagree with your entire post.  Kuroda, Pineda, Hughes, Bettances, Garcia?  Sounds like the Yankees don't have a solid starter after their #2 guy in the rotation to me.  Ignorant?  You say that Price, Sheilds, and Hellickson are not better than your top 3?  That is hilarious.  I might give you Sabbathia over Price, but just remember who was right behind CC in 2010 for the AL Cy Young.  Davis does not "stink."  That's Ignorant.  Niemann might even be better and steal the #4/5 slot in the Rays rotation depending on spring training.  Better at every position?  Again Ignorant.  Cannot wait til these teams meet in April and the Rays start their domination of NY for the season.  11-7 Rays against the Bronx Bombers for 2012.
