Trade help for a new owner

Points are usually the most expensive cat to trade for yet one of the easier cats to find on waivers. I would argue that you find your strong cats, weak cats and trade away from your weakest, effectively punting that category. As for your analyses regarding your team being very competitve in assist, I would politely disagree and say you've been doing it with some smoke and mirrors thus far. My suggestion, trade away points... Melo for a 1-2 punch, like rubio(steals, assist and ft%)/conley and bynum/hibbert (boards blocks), or a wade combo including an above average assists guy is something the other guy would do without hesitating, and it would boost your team in the harder to find cats like steals/blocks/assists. Just a thought...

Just some food for thought...
Melo takes a TON of shots, someone who takes that many shots "baselines" your teams fg%, and with him sporting 39% this year, I'll wager that your team is a bit below average in fg%. Think about what you have with Gortat, Al Jefferson and Iguodala... those guys get you some of those harder to find stats like steals/fg% and blocks. Trading away Melo will instantly improve your fg%, allowing gortat and al Jeff to be your teams new leading scorers with an fg% closer to 50% than 40%, and provide you with someone that will command a high prIce (rightfully so) in a trade. Think about the 2 quality guys you can get back that will allow you to drop dead weight like Diaw and Frye from your lineup...

Trade Melo and get howard back... he dominates points (less than melo) fg% blocks and boards, although he will single handedly sink you in ft%... him Jefferson and Gortat will destroy teams...

I'm sorry, but where in my message did I say to trade him straight-up? Without, at least, having the full roster list of that league it would be impossible to suggest any specific trades. So my suggestion was obviously for a trade centered around those 2 players. He's seems open to trading manu, what's so wrong about a Manu and Melo for Howard trade? And that's without even knowing what the team that has Howard needs...

Trade help for a new owner

January 28, 2012 1:17 pm

this is my first post, so i can not start a new thread. so i'm hoping for some advice. I'm in standard rotis basketball.must start 10 G/Fs and 2 centers. (3pts made, blocks, assists, fg%,FT%, pts, steals, rebounds) I am in first place but want to stack my team. my team includes j.jack,r.allen, t.allen, chalmers, d.green, p.george. Pau Gasol, klove, monroe, granger, thadues young. with camby, kaman and okur at center. I lead in 3pts, blocks, ft%, and rebounds. I was thinking of trading camby and young for Carmelo Anthony and bogut(so i can add a center with an IR move, IR moves are considered after waiver wire moves, otherwise you get one move a week. my thinking is if melo comes back healthy his FG% will go up, and i will get the points i need, with out giving up too much in rebounds(kaman is currently being delt and not playing). this will give me a moster set of forwards. what does everyone think? I would love some feedback before pulling the trigger thanks!

Surbs,

Are you asking if you should make that deal, or if you should propose it?  I can't believe anyone in their right mind would trade Carmelo Anthony for Camby and Thad Young.  It is a great idea to trade Camby on the heels of his 2 20 rebound games, but anyone willing to pay that price deserves to be taken advantage of.  If that deal has been offered to you, insta-click and pray it doesn't get vetoed.  My guess though, unless you have some really cool owners in your league, it likely will be vetoed since that is as one-sided as it gets.

Andrew Bogut also has some value since their are IR spots, but keep in mind he is very likely done for the season.  Bogut is not exactly known as a quick healer, so the 8-12 week time frame is likely closer to 10-12.  If the Bucks fall out of playoff contention without him, they will have no reason to rush him back.

thanks for the input...the deal has been agreed to...so i just have to put it in....This guy isnt smart, but on his behalf, he is last in rebounds, blocks, and fg%....young shoots plus 50%. and obviously camby helps him....im hoping for this to be enough for a non veto. plus i will now have to find two starting centers now that kaman is inactive and okur is inbred...thats why i question it for myself because of the trauma to my centers.

Marcus Camby could get injured by the time I finish typing this.  Not exactly a guy you can rely on.  Yes, you have center issues, but you had them before this trade.  See who is out there on the wire and don't be afraid to drop Okur or Kaman.  They are both potentially expendable for a spot starter.
