Figures, the media credits the giants D

The media always needs a story line or a reason that one team won and the other team lost. It will be the typical media's laziness when they site the Giants defense as the reason they won. In all reality, except for the Packers final drive with under 2mins and trailing by 17, the giants recorded 1 sack and 1 pass defended. THAT my friends, is not smothering defense. The giants also did not FORCE the 3 fumbles, the kuhn fumble was caused by his own guy, the grant fumble he just let it slip out. The only turnover the Giants actually created was the strip on Aaron Rodgers... which was a gigantic turnover.

The reality is that the Packers beat themselves today. I do believe the giants are good, and i wouldn't be shocked to see them win the superbowl. My only point is that the packers really beat themselves way more than the giants actually forcing a victory. 8 drops, a hail mary, 2 fumbles not caused by the giants. None of that stuff had anything to do with the Giants, it had to do with the Packers poor play. If they would have done this against the Colts they still would have lost, just like they lost to the lowly Chiefs

Packers beat themselves? Come on, bud. Both of your TD drives were bailed out by the refs. You can't deny that.

Footballguy44 = hater.    Giants D got 4 sacks.  2 by Boley, 2 by Osi.  It pains me, but you've got to give them credit.

How can you say the Packers didn't beat themselves?
Everyone said, "oh the Giants are a different team than the first matchup. Look! They can run the ball! Look! They can rush the passer!"

Giants didn't do either one of these. GB shut down the run and protected Rodgers. Rodgers was off, but if they don't have even half of those drops it's a totally different game. Turnovers are completely uncharacteristic.

I will never say a team won ONLY because they beat themselves, but we haven't seen this team make so many dumb mistakes in over a year. Maybe the Chiefs game. If any team was different in this game, it was GB, not the Giants.

Giants have a good team. We are better. But we choked when it mattered most.

How about you worry about that defense that's ranked dead last and a crappy running game instead of making pathetic excuses.

The Giants dominated the entire game. You're lucky you got in the endzone. Thank Bill Leavy for me.

This is pathetic, the Giants destroyed you in your own back yard, yeah it sucks and yeah one of the touchdowns for the Packers was due to a phantom blow to the head on Aaron Rodgers that didnt happen. The Giants are the better team, quit being sore losers. Everyone besides Packers fans have been predicting this would happen in the playoffs as the Packers dont play defense.

Talk all the smack you want. The Giants were better tonight. Nobody could/will ever argue that. Packers played like complete you know what. Are you really denying this? Not only did the defense stink in the first half, but they had how many drops? Fumbles? How many people here really think GB played their game? How many here really think the Giants D shut down GB? Rodgers had guys open all day long. How many of those drops happened with a Giant not even in the window.

The Giants are a dangerous team because they're confident. They have a great shot to get to and win the SB now that they have the niners to match up with. But you will never convince me they are a better team than GB in 2011. Nothing suggests that except this one January game.

And if you think I'm being a sore loser or I'm sour grapes, that's OK. But because we were blown out so bad I honestly rarely even had the chance to be upset in the game. Even when it was close, it wasn't really close. You could tell in the first quarter that we weren't right.

The best team in NFL doesn't always win and that's ok. GB wasn't the best team in 2010, but we won everything. GB was the best team this year and they choked. It's part of the game.

Wish you all the best if you get to the Bowl.

San Diego Pack, maybe they should have a regular season trophy for people with your mindset. Maybe you'd be happier that way? But recent history (08 Cardinals, 07 Giants, 10 Packers) has shown us it's the hottest team that gets to the Super Bowl. And it's the playoffs that really matter. 9-7 was good enough for the Giants to win their division and hence clinch a playoff spot. So at this juncture the Giants are the superior team. Better defense and the offense isn't built for an indoor and/or warm type atmosphere. Good luck to you guys next year but you will never convince me the 2011 Packers are better than the 2011 Giants just as you will never convince me that the 2007 Patriots are better than the 2007 Giants. It's the playoffs that MATTERS.

The Giants D played well enough to win.  The biggest story should be the Giants offense totally dominating the Green Bay defense.  In 2007, Plaxico made Al Harris his beotch.  Tonight, it was Victor Cruz making Williams his.

Eli played a great game today and line protected him well.  Good luck to the Giants next week in San Fran....

Downinorlando, I honestly don't disagree with any of this, except the opening line. I KNOW what matters. I've seen GB win two SBs and play in three. I've also seen really good teams choke.

I never dig myself into threads like this because from the winner's perspective you can never win the argument. Just open myself up to all kinds of hate. GB got quite a few big breaks, especially the Jennings fumble. But I think its funny that close to zero Giants fans will even come close to admitting that perhaps GB didn't show up. If the undefeated Packers were beat by the Giants in their regular season matchup would you have considered the Giants a better team then? What if the Giants didn't beat the Cowboys in that last game? IMO, and I bet in the opinion of near every Packer fan, the Packers were responsible for a ton of this loss. I'm biting the bullet for it. You can accept that opinion or you can leave it.

The Giants won the game period. And that is what matters. I never said anything other than that, was just responding to some of the early posts. Like I said, the Giants were undoubtedly the better team today.

If us Packer fans can't see the base truth of this then you live in a dream world.  We played the same sloppy, weak defense all year long and today a pretty good team made us pay - NO surprise there.  We tried to make up for it by trying to strip the ball and only ended up missing tackles.  The Giants scored on a Hail Mary - a Hail Mary.  Just pathetic.

Our leading rusher by far was Aaron Rodgers.  Yeah, that's what I want, my million dollar man pounding the ball for first downs

This is true as well.  Even poor officiating could turn the tide.  I don't know why the have a replay booth or stop the game to review these calls.  They should have a ouija board on the sideline.  The Giants took control of this game on the first drive and maintain control throughout the game.  The defense kept choking the pocket and they took our receivers out of the game.  You wouldn't know that James Jones or Jordy Nelson played in this game.  You only had to see Charles Woodson standing on the sideline in the 4th quarter staring into space to know that the ass-kicking was complete.

Congrats to the Giants - they deserve it.  Good Luck and represent us well in the Super Bowl.

Of course the Packers beat themselves, who else could beat them?  It couldn't be because they played a more complete team.  It couldn't be because their defense wasn't good, their run game wasn't good and everything they got this season was on the arm of their QB.  It couldn't have been any of that, it had to be because the Packers beat themselves.  Way to take a loss!!!!

How many people here really think GB played their game?

Better question, with that Oline, that running game, and that defense, how many have been wondering why the Packers weren't playing like this all season?

How many here really think the Giants D shut down GB?

I watched the game so mark me down as a guy that thinks the Giants D shut down the Packers.

But you will never convince me they are a better team than GB in 2011. Nothing suggests that except this one January game.

the Giants were up and down this year, the Packers were steady.  But seeing that it's 2012, not 2011, then the answer to the question is, yes, the giants are a better team in 2012.  The second season when it matters the most.

And if you think I'm being a sore loser or I'm sour grapes, that's OK.

that's exactly what it is.  Glad to see you're OK with it.

Living in denial...priceless.

You're right, the Packers are the best team in the NFL.  They are so dominant that they just can't be beat by anyone because there are no better teams out there.  Only the Packers can beat themselves.

Except for having zero defense and an average (at best) running game.  Except for those, the Pack are the best.

PackMan20-  The lone voice of reason in Packerland today?  Well said and props for being man enough to admit.  I agree 100% and I had a response all set up but decided to read throughthe entire thread befor posting.  I was going to say the same things you did so instead of just repeating it I will simply say that the Giants outplayed the Packers yesterday no if ands or buts. Pakers fans can make all the excuses they want but none of it will change the fact our defense and our running game are not super bowl quality.  This team got 15 wins 95% on the backs of the offense and when the offense can't do it they will not win.

Congrats to the Giants for kicking our behinds yesterday and hopefully their fans can see that not all Packers fans are in denial.
