I think it's entirely possible DD will simply retire and save TT the tough decision. One of the best Packers of all time. I'd love for him to come back but I have a feeling the JJ extension, and the Cobb drafting, were done in anticipation of no DD in 2012.
On the plus side, that's a lot of money that can be put on defense or given to Finley if we want to bring Finley back.
To be honest its hard to say ... i dont know if DD doesn't have anything left in the tank & besides .. i'm sure he was thinking this team was alot better than what they showed on Sunday so i'm sure he knows the Packers could be a legitimate threat for another SB run in 2012...
Then again he has a ring and nothing to prove.... guys like Keyshawn Johnson won only a single ring and decided to call it quits.... so why not....
Just read on the Packers site where DD would like to keep playing. He was the only receiver to really show up on Sunday and he is always around to make the toughest of catches. He is still tougher than a guy like James Jones and almost as productive. He has obviously dropped a step and that means that a big threat guy like Cobb sits the bench or developing talent like Gurley lingers on the practice squad. This will be a tough call and the kind of call that will earn TT more haters.
It would be easier if Donald Driver simply said that he has had enough but I doubt that will happen. I would hate to see this come down to "budget cuts". Training camp could be a real slugfest if TT lets them settle it the old fashion way. Either way, I love Donald Driver and what he brings to the offense. He is by far the toughest receiver that we have and has earned the right to prove it agian next year.
Well whatever Driver's future holds it sure was nice to see him grab that last ball for a TD. If this is his last season, that's a good note to go out on. I sure wish him luck in whatever he decides to do. He is a great Packer!
In an iterview Donald Driver said he plans to play next year and hopes it is in Green Bay, but either way he will play. There were two recievers on the practice squad that turned down chances to go to other rosters, this means they were told they had a chance to play next year. James Jones just resigned last year, Gregg Jennings, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, add one of those two rookies and it looks like driver is odd man out. Too bad Big Driver fan wish him all the luck unless he ends up iwith the Vikings, Bears or Lions.
I would hate to see him go. Can't think/remember anything bad about DD. Love his infectious smile and leadership. However, I think that Jennings and Rodgers can still keep the prima-donnas in line even without Driver around. Cobb will be better next year and I can only hope that Jones and Finley get their shat together. Promote Gurley and see if a little more competition gets their attention.
Time moves on and some tough decisions need to be made.
How about we cut Peprah and have the Donald play safety?
Best of luck to him where ever he plays next year.
