Recruiting Update Thread

Recruiting is a huge deal in college football and there are some of us that are absolutely obsessed with it 24/7 365 days a year.  Personally I don't have the bandwith or the patience to follow it very closely until after the season.  Somehow getting reports on 8th grade football prospects just bores the crap out of me.  Now just 14 days out it is time to catch up and I am betting there are a lot of guys like me out there so help us out and give us the scoops.

Use this tread to post the following:

How this years class is looking for this year.
Who are you most excited about.
How you think you will end up in the rankings.
Is your team filling their needs.

It will be interesting to see how you guys rate your own teams and your thoughts on the incoming class.

Gators kicking butt. #3 by some recruiting experts. After just having the #1 and the #1 player and qb in Driskel, preranked top3 defense and Brisett I'm hoping the last 2 years will be a distant memory.

I meant " just after having the #1 recruiting class recently after the first #1 above.

Auburn

How this years class is looking for this year - Kinda nervous the coaching shake ups at Auburn can make things go either way.
Who are you most excited about - Zeke Pike the QB prospect we really need him to pan out and be ready to play early.
How you think you will end up in the rankings - Top 20 definitely but would like to see top 15 and I think it is possible.
Is your team filling their needs - They seem to be but I really want to see more secondary players and tall ones at that.

Overall I have faith in Chizik and his staff IMO they have exceeded expectations in regards to recruiting so I am sitting back, watching what happens and hoping for the best.

How you think you will end up in the rankings: Top 10 if we can land 2 of the following 4 - Andrus Peat, Kyle Murphy, Josh Garnett, Aziz Sh!ttu
Is your team filling their needs: Not exactly. The QB position will be a big question mark still. Top QB prospect Jameis Winston supposedly visited this last weekend, but I have not heard anything about it. Our secondary is in need of help too. Alex Carter is a good start, but we need more. We really built on our strength though in the trenches (on both sides of the ball).

What about D-Line Stanford could use some beef up front.

According to "Scouts.Com" the averaged ranking from 2003 to 2011

1. USC  4.2
2. LSU   6.7
3. Tex   8.0
4. Fla    9.5
5. OU    10.2
6. FSU   11.0
7. Bam  14.8


It appears USC is still KING even with sanctions. I didn't use Rival or ESPN. I read earlier that ESPN had this kid ranked 198 in the nation, when he committed to Bama, they moved him up 100 spots to 98th., anyone see the BS, I look arduously  for the thread or post, but couldn't find it.. Trust me it's true. Scouts is by far the fairest recruiting board

Their right around 18, but they do have the highest rating per commit at 3.92 followed by FSU at 3.81.  I expect  they will get  3 or 4  more 5 start recruits

Florida

How this years class is looking for this year: Top 5 in all recruiting sites. Bringing in some solid recruits that could make an early impact, especially on the lines.

Who are you most excited about: Kent Taylor/TE and Brian Poole/Safety.

How do you think Florida will end up in the rankings: In the top 25, and thats all I'm asking for.

Is your team filling their needs:  Florida has a solid recruiting class as always. Still thin on the D-Line and Ends, could use 1 or 2 more on the OL as well. RB is a serious concern only landing one recruit. I would like to see a playmaker at WR, enter Diggs and or Agholor.


I think/hope Brent Pease will turn the Offense around this year to compliment the Gators' Stout D, especially since the basket case seniors are gone.

Aziz Sh!ttu is a 5-star DT that we are trying to land. He had a soft verbal commitment earlier this year. Not sure what is up now, but I think Stanford is still in his top choices. He came out to the campus this last weekend for what I think was his 4th visit.

Big Boy, You might think that USC is "still king" even with sanctions but i beg to differ. The sanctions haven't even started to take effect yet. We will see how good USC is here in about 2 years when they really start to suffer from it! And i will take a 14.8 average ranking from 03-11 and the 2 National Titles to go with it!! Bama is back and they look to be staying there for many years to come! ROLL TIDE ROLL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off USC is not Alabama. Back in the early 2000's Bama was under  sanctions, they had 45th. ranked class and have struggled until recently. I doubt seriously USC even gets in the low 20's in their recruiting process over the next 3 years

I think Oline will be off the charts, they pretty much re-shirted the last recruiting class, and will get a few more 5 starts this year. The LB are just awesome with all freshman last year with 2 more  great ones coming in this year. Scott Star is said to be a Cushing clone. The secondary will also be off the charts. They only area of concern is the Dline.

In 2010 USC also got the # 2 & # 3 QB's in the land, ya know at least 1 of those guys are going to kick arse

Greetings all:

Ohio State's class is looking exceptional, #3 rivals I think #5ish scout. We were #18 when Meyer got hired with some key guys swaying, so he is doing an exceptional job. Best D line class that I can remember and we just got two 4 star OL recruits in the past 2 days. OSU booted 2 problem players that freed up 2 more schoolys so we still have room for a few more players. I see us ending up somewhere around #3-#5. the main needs were OL/DL and LB. we still neeed to pick up a good LB IMO.
I'm probably most excited about Adolphous Washington, he is not ranked at DE as high as Noah Spence but he was a beast in the army game.
