Recruiting Update Thread

You're right, Swamp. I mean, what would I know (as a UGA fan) about NOSE TACKLE issues? (btw, UGA used an end/4-3 DT at Nose in Grantham's 1st year- DEANGELO TYSON, who is just barely over 300lbs.  That fill failied miserably, although he was a great defensive end this year).  Floyd, Easley, Mann, Jacobs, Williams and Hunter are all between 280-300lbs.  None are prototype NOSE TACKLES.  We even tried moving justin anderson's big useless ass over to Nose for a year in order to try to take up some space in the middle.  I'm not saying you don't have great DEFENSIVE TACKLES.  I'm saying you don't have a man-mountain to anchor the middle of your line.  A guy who eats space to take double-teams.  That's what John Jenkins, Kwame Geathers, Mt Cody and other giants are used for in a 3-4.  This is the SEC, and even the Centers in this league have enough meat to take on your Tackles head-first or with quick cut-blocks.     Florida has plenty of speed and talent...they're missing beef.  And you need it for your Buck to be able to drop back into coverage and generate more speed pressure off the edge.  You put a guy like John Jenkins on your interior and people would be RAVING about Ronald Powell, b/c he would only need to worry about chip blocks from RBs.  Without it, you're still running a 4-3.

I keep bringing up your QBs b/c, frankly, what the hell have they proved?  If Florida was running a school for tackling dummies and sack lunches, you'd be right at the top of everyone's lists.  You rant about a #1 QB who hasn't shown any kind of #1 billing (yet).  Which is why I'm skeptical.  But maybe I'm just a hater, and you're not a homer at all.  Maybe that is what this is all about.

 we also have leon orr who is 6-5 310. he was a freshman last year and didnt see much playing time. who knows. i get what you are saying. we have the depth at d line, but i will agree we lack that run stuffer. maybe orr will step up this year. one can only hope


  my point about our QB's is this. there isnt enough for either one of us to say one way or the other. both made their first appearances against BAMA and LSU respectively. and i never said he has showed any kind of anything, i brought up his ranking to say their obviously is talent their. every team in the nation wasnt offering this kid because he sucked. whether or not he pans out is another story. i just think the fact that you discredit the kid based on him coming in against bama doesnt make sense. thats the only measuring stick we have.

Points taken.  We started off on the wrong foot.  As WT can tell you, I hate the Gators more than the thought of contracting herpes.  Pretty much the same for Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Southern Cal (I live in SoCal right now, don't ask or I'll start ranting).  However, I will respect your team and give a fairly objective opinion about the situation I see.  If the Gators looked like USC or Oklahoma does for this year, I'd be giving them the credit that they were due.  And you're right, we haven't even been through spring practices or summer camps/drills yet, so there really is no way of knowing.  Hope there's another good Cocktail Party this year.  Good luck to your team and your new Coach.

 and i hate georgia more than any other team. ( maybe with the exception of miami ) but i still respect UGA and their program. always ave. and i honestly dont know what this season holds for the gators. this is the first time in a long time where i honestly can say i wouldnt be surprised to win anywhere between 7-9 games with 10 being a stretch. our defense is proven but our offense is full of question marks. however i do like what pease brings to the table and if we land diggs this friday i feel he will contribute right away and will help us out tremendously right away.  and thanks, good luck to georgia as well. i have always been a fan of murray. ive been to the cocktail party the last 3 years and plan on being there again this year!

I would have to rate the Georgia class this year as good as Ala, for their needs.......Georgia will be the class and team to beat in the East for the next several years, I think the Gators will be back up there at the top again but not enough to over take the Dawgs....South Carolina will be back where they always have been, 3 or 4 in the East.......best of luck to the Gators and the Dawgs this year, just wish the Hogs could play y'all this year.

I don't think he's sucking up.  I just know a smart poster when I see one (definitely not WT).  Go on Hog...keep it comin' with those prognostications...I like what you're seeing in your "crystal ball". <ya see what I did there...with the whole "crystal ball" pun?>

Diggs seems to be a heavy lean to Maryland we will find out to day I guess.

Yeah, that guy GatorFanSteve, the one I work with, he thinks Diggs is going to Florida.  I told him, "Steve, why would he delay his announcement to take an official visit to Maryland, annnouce the decision on a local Maryland network, at a DC Highschool Awards event if he was planning to go to Florida?"  To which he replied, "GO GATORS!  You got any moonpies or RC Cola?"  I guess moonpies and RC are brainfood for Gator fans.  Helps the dendrites make all the right correlations- kind of like a redneck's version of connect-the-dots.

Yeah I had myself convinced he was coming to Auburn too but you know what you can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up the fastest.  One guy does not make or break you but man it is sweet to land the big dogs even if they don't pan out because they never go back and "adjust" the rankings it is just plain good in the PR department and for the fan bases.

Went through the same thing with Lattimore and I am still convinced he wanted to come to Auburn but the in state pressure was too much. 

We still have a three star lineman, Kozan, out there that hasn't annouced so the glass aint empty yet.
