I figured once I said I wan't goint to respond the vitriol would roll. Looks like I was right. There used to be another poster that had the same tendency, hmm.
And still you give the players no credit at all, only how disappointed you are in them and their fans. That's a pity. You seem to be capable of cogent thought, but your negative attitude and need to win an argument keeps you from adding anything beneficial to the conversation at all. Again that is too bad as the board always needs people with factual and effective points to discuss. You seem capable, just unwilling. If only you used your pwers for good instead of evil.....LOL
You have repeated your one verse of the song over and over again. We get that you think you are owed something by a college basketball team, and that you have projected yourself into being part og them in some way. That because at times they have been very good in the past, and over history the third best team in the conference, that you think no matter what the current situation, and facts aside, they should be playing at a higher level. You believe that just by you, or anyone, or even everyone else demanding that thngs be better, that they will in fact be better, or that you are owed some explanation. Perhaps if you were a coach that would carry some weight, but you are not, so it does not. Perhaps if you were in charge of someone that had something to do with recruiting it might carry more weight for them, but you are not, so it does not. And other than that, for the short time this staff has been here, I don't really see how anyone could have expected better recruiting for next season or the miraculous job they did just to get enough players to fill in the team for this year and do what they have done, but again we understand that is not good enough for you today.
We get that you believe that if someone had held previous staffs to a higher standard or removed them, that the program would be in a different place, for better or worse. On that sole point you are correct, but again we don't know who would have been replaced or if it would have been for the better or worse, especially if you feel a HOF coach should have been removed prior to this year. I think most would agree that is about the just of your many rants.
So we understand your frustration. We went through it at the end of last year and during the off season, and got past it. I trust that you also were here under a different sign on, as your pattern of posts, attitude, and phrases suggest, but perhaps not. In any case after you get past woulda shoulda coulda, we have moved on to rooting for the team, analyzing what they need and discussing the current team dynamics and it's future based on what we know about people coming and going, the progress of these players and this team, and the obvious skill of the head coach courtside, and the assistant coaches at least in recruiting. I am not priveleged to practice, nor do I have time to go to them to tell you how valuable the asst coaches are there where fundamentals and situations are taught. I doubt you do either, or you may have enlightened us, in between your entitled attitude as to what you have actually seen, instead of simply being disappointed with the final results or the record. In fact you have never even made reference to in game play that I remember, if you even watch the games.
As for being talked down to, that is your own personal, under any name, paranoia. I simply take more time to answer you. Everyone on here, including myself has agreed with you that we are dissapointed with the current state of not only the basketball program, but the entire athletic department other than a few bright, onfield spots in Soccer, Lacrosse, Field Hockey and Womens BB, evidenced by the cutting of many programs next year due to lack of funding. That however has not been good enough for you. Just because you are not agreed with, does not mean you ar being talked down to. Pointing out that you are wrong or unreasonable is not talking down to you, it is disagreeing with your point like an adult. Until you take it to a different level it is devoid of put downs or name calling. In fact I think it is you who on several occasions have put other fans on here down for "accepting mediocrity" as if if they are not ranting and calling for heads, they have accepted anything other than the team is what it is for this year, and attempting to still have positive conversation about it.
As for me personally, I have never bragged about anything. Certain things are simply fact, and those facts do carry weight to opinion at times so they are brought out for that reason only. As you point out we know nothing about what you do off these boards, so your background carries no weight at all. Unfortunately you fall into the whiney fan without knowledge or reason catagory, whether that is a correct assumption or not. you have given nothing else. That is not to say you have to work for the team to have a valid point or opinion as long as there is something to substantiate it. You simply have not done it, and have no reputation on here to fall back on, at least not under this alias.
For the record, I played football at Arizona State for two years while I was in the Navy in the BOOST officer program. I did not start and I was not a big part of the program. I did get to go to, and play a little, in the Rose Bowl. Though I was much bigger, it was very Rudy-like. I spent 13 years in the Navy as an enlisted man in the nuclear power program on submarines, and then as a supply officer after receiving my commission in 1988. After working for 5 years at the knee of a very talented IT person and attending many classes in specific disciplines, we became partners, he passed on too early, and I built the company into a private, very exclusive and profitable database management company. My clients include the Baltimore Orioles, OPACY. Verizon Center (though not the teams), and the Washington Navy Yard, and I have offices and permanant employees aat all those facilities. Since I live in Baltimore, I spend most of my time at Camden Yards. So there you have it, my short biography. None of it gives me any insight on how to play college basketball, but I was recruited heavily out of HS, by UMD, before choosing the Navy, so I have a little experience there, albeit old experience, and I have played and coached team sports, as well as private and military working teams most of my life. Other than serving my country proudly, and building the company into what it is, which I am also very proud of, none of that is bragging. It just is fact, and facts that anyone would be proud of.
I hope this clears up any misconception or attitude, as there is no need for all the vitriol to continue to come up under this or any other sign on you have. It's ok to not agree, and in this case noone has agreed with you, other than we all agree that this level of play should not continue year after year, so maybe it is not all of us that are wrong on this one small point. Of course if it is the only point you have made then it is 100% isn't it?

With that said, and with all of your experience, you still have a nasty habit of talking down to folks when they don't agree with you...and you may not even realize it. It's all in your delivery! Like I said on another post board: I know that Gary is an arrogant SOB, who tried to get an excellent UMD employee, who barely made more than minimum wage fired...eventhough the worker was doing his job. If you are familiar with UMD golf course, you would know that golf carts are not allowed in the parking lots. Gary drove one to his car, and the worker informed him that carts were not allowed in the parking lot. Gary's response: "Do you know who the f#ck I am?" Then Gary went and tried to get the worker fired. Gary became lazy and more arrogant and abrasive after the NC run.
I never learn. I have to express myself better. The whole post meant as a tongue in cheek poke at 81. I thought I was getting it across when I said you had no problem using your Mac screen name...my bad. I never thought it was you...sarcasim is so difficult to get across in print.
Being a Redskin fan makes it hard for me with regards to the Giants, but I'm a sucker for a turnaround story like the 7-7 Giants. I truly think the Pats defense will provide the Giants the Title. I guess Coughlin will be safe again until they go through another stretch of mediocre play.
As a Skins fan...I'd take the ups and downs of the Giants any day. It reminds me of Andy Reid in Philly.
Going to the game tomorrow...not expecting much, but hopeful that the crowd can get the best game of the year from the Terps.
I never suspect Mac of underhandedness. If anything he is upfront. One of his endearing qualities. If he wanted to I am sure he would not create an alter ego to carry on an argument. I think we have been very cordial/ LOL. Unless he really is Whatsisis anyway. LOL
