One scout tells long-time NFL writer Len Pasquerelli that the Browns aren't sold on Baylor's Robert Griffin III as worthy of the No. 4 pick in the draft.
Skepticism is advised. The same scout acknowledges the Browns are far from sold on Colt McCoy as well. The Cleveland Plain Dealer has suggested the Browns would have to "turn their offense upside down" for RGIII, as he's only operated out of the shotgun and was never required to read defenses at Baylor. If that criticism sounds familiar, it's the same question Cam Newton faced leading up to the draft last year. We suspect RGIII's talent will be too enticing for the Browns to pass up -- if they get the chance.
According to the Washington Post, the Redskins "aren't believed to have much interest" in free agent Matt Flynn.
Chris Russell of ESPN 980 Washington reported in mid-January that the Redskins were "very interested" in Flynn, so there are conflicting reports. The Post mentions free agent Kyle Orton as a potentially more cost-effective target, though he wouldn't solve the Redskins' long-term franchise quarterback need.
A person with knowledge of the situation tells the Washington Post that the Redskins "would have interest" in Peyton Manning should he become available this offseason.
"You’d be crazy not to want Peyton Manning if he was healthy," said one league official. "Nobody knows now if he’s going to be cleared to play. And if he is cleared to play, wouldn’t the Colts either want him, or [pick up his option] and then try to trade him?" As Mike Chappell of the Indy Star recently pointed out, however, the Colts would take a large, lengthy, prorated salary cap hit if they picked up the bonus and tried to trade Manning. Expect the Redskins to show interest if Manning is released over the next five weeks.
A lot of Kyle Orton talk lately. isn't he the guy that Rex Grossman beat out in Chicago? Just saying.....No Rex Grossman was drafted 8th and due to a hip injury his senior year at Purdue kyle orton was drafted in the 4th round (joe gibbs we should have drafted orton)
