I think Pastner is the kind of coach you have to stick with for more than three seasons.  He needs to mature as a coach.  He was probably handed to big of a job too early.  As gifted a recruiter as he is, he just needs time to work on the fother aspects of coaching. If he was at Southern Miss, doing what he has been doing it would be great and memphis would be slobbering all over him as a coach. He just needs some seasoning, which requires time.  give him 5-7 years and you will be glad you did.

How can ANYONE blame the best 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year coach in the history of Memphis basketball???? He didn't shoot, guard, dribble, or block, he only coached. It's not his fault that his players didn't show up against UTEP. Hell, the ballboy had more to do with this loss than Pastner did.

Can I bump this thread again. Worse coaching game of they year. He could have won with Stan simpson and the rest of his 4th string against St. Louis. Not trying to disrespect but they have 1 ball player that could be a backup on this team if we actually had a team. All I saw tonight was Memafrica tigers playing street ball and sulking after every miss 1 on 1 attempt. Maybe Cal was right not to recruit the local talent.  Maybe it is time Wiil and Adnonis go pro. It won't be the NBA but who cares. And take Joe and cris with you. Its obvious the name on the front does not matter much to them either.

Allow me to second your bump. 0-2 all time in the NCAA Tournament. This was supposed to be your year. Other Tiger fans claiming that he is better than Coach Cal, when in fact, Coach Cal would have won this game. Pastner is in over his head, and heading into the Big East, where he will be overmatched.
