Washington's most pressing needs....

i like V-jax but again what is the point of paying big for a WR when you don't have a QB
You really believe our coaching staff will go into another season with just Grossman and Beck? please, someone new will be under center next season so saying that we should not sign a #1 Wr because we dont have a QB is pretty stupid.

You really believe our coaching staff will go into another season with just Grossman and Beck?
i don't beleive Rex Grossman will be back, i can see shannahan proving he is the smartest guy in the world and brining back John Beck as our starter, but i don't anticipate it.

so if i look at the potentially available starters I have

Drew Brees - will be franchise tagged
Andrew Luck - will be drafted by the Colts
RG III - all reports have the Browns drafting him
Matt Flynn - my guess is he will end up with the Dolphins
Peyton Manning - i don't see him going into the same division as eli, i dont seem him going to a bad team i would see him going Jets Cardinals or 49ers
Kyle Orton - i would say sign Brandon Lloyd who has had success with orton
Mark Sanchez - if peyton comes to the jets i could see him going to the 49ers
Alex Smith - is he any better than what we have?
Jason Campbell - won't come back

so RD who am I missing that we are going to bring in to be a significant enough piece to spend $10M on a WR?

I'd be willing to bet money that we draft RGIII, so QB imo should be taken care of by the start of the season.  Are coaches would be foolish to pass up a QB who could be our franchise guy for the next 10 or so years, giving up 4-5 picks in 2 years to solidify the quarterback position for years to come is well worth it.

It's looking more likely that Bowe will stay in KC but he would be my top choice followed by Robert Meachem

That would give us: 1. Meachem, 2. Hankerson, 3. Moss, 4. Gaffney, 5. Paul and either a draft pick or an unknown player at the time as the #6 guy.  That's a pretty solid group to me and cumulatively would be one of the cheapest WR corps in the NFL.

Washington's most pressing needs....

Qb, wr,rbs, te, ol, dl, lbs,cbs and safeties.  Might as well add kicker, punter and Coach.
either you are not a Redskins fan and hate them or you are one and havent watched them. so let me say this. QB yes we need that, WR is a need, but in my book it's a small need, TE isnt a need, just re-sign Davis to a short term deal (doubt any team offers him a big one due to his drug issue). OL needs more players, D-line just needs to re-sign one player and deal with the signings they made last year, as for linebackers, re-sign Fletcher, sign another middle linebacker and you are fine, due need one or two more CBs and one safety, due need a kicker. now where you are WAY off. RUNNING BACKS!!!!! you GOT to be joking. i have already said this and will say it again, if the Redskins draft Trent Richardson then they have MAJOR issues in the front office because Royster and Helu are both up and coming players who both showed they can run for 100 yards. they do NOT need a punter if they keep Sav Rocca, he can punt and TE, no, they have Davis and Cooley.
i like them both too, but I think only sign 1 of them.  Lets see if Keonard hankerson or Niles Paul can be the big WR and then we can have smaller guys that can lead to a quick passing game
yeah, i personally like both of them and think we should sign both of them, let Stallworth and Gaffney go and then build on the offense with Hankerson, Moss, Smith, Gonzalez, Paul and Armstrong.
screw it sign both Steve Smith was a great possesion guy with the Giants
yeah, i like both, now do we get them, i dont see it, i still see us getting DeSean Jackson, but i would LOVE Steve Smith, i think his career with the Eagles wasnt good, but i dont think he was a great fit in that offense either.
i don't get bowe not worth what i think he will cost
i like Bowe and would want to have him, but i think KC either franchises him or re-signs him. Remember this team doesnt have a go to WR on their roster besides him. Breasten is good, but is oft injured and Baldwin is a rookie, i think they try their best to keep him.
i like V-jax but again what is the point of paying big for a WR when you don't have a QB
first off, let me address that i do think we get a QB, though it may not be the one that we want. i personally now want RG3, nothing more, nothing less. i wouldnt hate Flynn, but i would take that, after that, i would be biting my nails because the rest of the QB market isnt good. people love Orton and i am NOT one of them, i think he's another Campbell, average at best, and i think in the end, it's either Orton or Vince Young we get and i will get to V Jax in a sec.
please, someone new will be under center next season so saying that we should not sign a #1 Wr because we dont have a QB is pretty stupid.
i agree on both points which is why if DeSean Jackson matures i would love him here, though i think we do get him, i dont think he's mature. anyways with that said, my problem with Vincent Jackson is that i question how good he is. is he great???? or does Rivers help make him great?? as for your point on QB, i agree. someone new will be under center though i am worried about who it is. i WANT RG3 or Flynn, do NOT want Orton.

Washington's most pressing needs....

February 3, 2012 12:32 pm

Drew Brees - will be franchise tagged
agree, he's a Saint for a long time to come.
Andrew Luck - will be drafted by the Colts
agree, he's a Colt. now if he's a backup to Manning or a starter is another question.
RG III - all reports have the Browns drafting him
my fear!! i hope this does NOT happen and if it does, hope we can at least get McCoy, i like McCoy and think that he can be good in Cleveland and i feel we need a QB more, plus, i think they just need to get a QB to compete against him. someone like Kolb.
Matt Flynn - my guess is he will end up with the Dolphins
i wouldnt be shocked by this and is the best fit.
Peyton Manning - i don't see him going into the same division as eli, i dont seem him going to a bad team i would see him going Jets Cardinals or 49ers
i agree, i see him on another team, though i think the Jets and 49ers arent good fits for him. the Jets locker room in my book is not a great fit, he would have to go in and make these guys shut up. the 49ers are more young and need WR help. the Cardinals though do seem to be a great fit, sign Manning, let Kolb go, keep Skelton and tell him he's the future.
Kyle Orton - i would say sign Brandon Lloyd who has had success with orton
NO!!! i do NOT want him and 2nd, been there, dont that with Lloyd, do not get him either.
Mark Sanchez - if peyton comes to the jets i could see him going to the 49ers
if Manning surprises me and ends up in NY, then i could see Sanchez in Washington. first off, we thought about getting him and second, Sanchez actually kinda fits in Shanahan's bootleg scheme and maybe Shanahan (an offensive coach) can get something out of Sanchez. now will it happen, i doubt it, in fact, if i had to guess now, Sanchez is a Jet, Campbell is a Jet and that's his QB competition.
Alex Smith - is he any better than what we have?
i see him staying with the 49ers.
Jason Campbell - won't come back
he wont come back and i dont want him back. i think he should be a Jet or even a Brown. with all this said, my hope is the Browns keep McCoy, get him competition in either Campbell, Orton or Kolb, now if Manning isnt a Cardinal and is a Jet, then the Browns should get Campbell.
I'd be willing to bet money that we draft RGIII, so QB imo should be taken care of by the start of the season.
i hope so!!! my hope is we trade our 1st round pick, 2nd round pick and next year's first round pick for RG3. the Rams dont need a QB and can still get an OT or WR at pick 6.
It's looking more likely that Bowe will stay in KC but he would be my top choice followed by Robert Meachem
Bowe is a Chief, NOW as for Meachem, i wouldnt mind having Meachem, he can play and i woudl accept him here.
That would give us: 1. Meachem, 2. Hankerson, 3. Moss, 4. Gaffney, 5. Paul and either a draft pick or an unknown player at the time as the #6 guy.  That's a pretty solid group to me and cumulatively would be one of the cheapest WR corps in the NFL
i would still like to get Smith, even if we did sign Meachem, then the lineup would be Meachem, Hankerson, Moss and Smith as the go to guys. with that said, i do think Meachem can be had if we sign him to good money.

MWR,
I feel like we should be signing kumbya

agree with most of what you said because you agree with me

some points of disagreement

Kyle Orton - i would say sign Brandon Lloyd who has had success with orton
NO!!! i do NOT want him and 2nd, been there, dont that with Lloyd, do not get him either.
I have always been a fan of Orton and it pissed me off that Joe Gibbs traded all those picks for Jason Campbell when kyle orton went in the 4th round
as for brandon lloyd agreed i don't want him, but if you were going to bring in kyle orton (for arguments sake lets say we do) then i think it would be wise to bring in brandon lloyd versus some other guy who orton has no experience with

lets use Anthony Gonzalez and Steve Smith as an example if I sign Peyton Manning I would sign gonzalez even if i thought smith was the slightly better WR, because i think they have a built in comofrt level.  i wouldn't touch Reggie Wayne or pierre garcone but put peyton manning behind center and i change my mind

Mark Sanchez - if peyton comes to the Jets i could see him going to the 49ers
if Manning surprises me and ends up in NY, then i could see Sanchez in Washington. first off, we thought about getting him and second, Sanchez actually kinda fits in Shanahan's bootleg scheme and maybe Shanahan (an offensive coach) can get something out of Sanchez. now will it happen, i doubt it, in fact, if i had to guess now, Sanchez is a Jet, Campbell is a Jet and that's his QB competition.
i changed my mind, i think sanchez ends up with seattle if peyton becomes a jet
i love JC in NYC though

Washington's most pressing needs....

Nick Fowles looked pretty good though didn't he? He may also work his way up in to the late 1st round if he shows at the combines and pro days.

The first thing I thought of when I started watching Foles two years ago was how much he looked and played like Matt Schaub.

He's a little lite in the ass, but that can be fixed and I like the kid too.

I am starting to believe that we are going to sign a Kyle Orton type, say bye bye to Rexy, and try like hell to trade up for RG3, if that doesn't happen, we'll take a qb in the 2nd or 3rd and that 1st pick will either get traded back or will go to a WR.

I'd love to see Tannehill here, baldy, but 6 is a MASSIVE reach for him, and he won't get by the Seahawks at 9 or 10 or wherever they are picking.  He's a perfect fit because he's been playing with Sherman (who is a Shanny disciple)... but 6 is just a huge reach for him.

I agrre with you DC on Foles would not at all mind him.

I hope we are able to trade up to get RGIII and that we can get him for a fair price. I am not so sure that the price will be fair however we will see. I agree Tannehill is a reach at six. I do feel he will go in the first round as well. I think if we do not get RGIII we will try and move down and pick up a pick and draft a QB. If we can not move down from six then I would not rule out going after Tannehill by making a trade with our second round pick and package other picks to move up if Tannehill is still on the baord towards the end of round one. I agree he most likely will not get by the Seahawks however free agency will tell us who is looking for a QB in the draft.

Tannehill is a big reach anywhere in the 1st round, you can't give up a first round pick on a guy who has only played 19 games at a position.  And him sitting out of the Senior Bowl and now the Combine just hurts him even more.  In order for me to even consider him as a 1st round pick he will have to be flawless at his proday.

In my opinion Tannehill will go in the first round. Some team is going to want him and he will move up the boards unless he is not able to play at his proday or if he just does terrible. QB's seem to move up and after Luck and RGIII the drop off is steep. I hope he falls to us in the second round that would great. What would be better is if we can trade up and get RGIII!
