It makes me sick. I cant watch it anymore
FBS football is about tradition much more so than anything else. That's about as honest an appraisal as you're going to read in the debate as to whether FBS should change its post-season format. I never grew up in an area where College Football was king. The pro game was where it was at for me. That being said, football for me, as a spectator sport, was superior to the other sports so I naturally was attracted to the college game as well. As I've gotten older I've begun to question the way a National Champion is determined. If tradition is so important why even move to try and clarify the system? Why not just keep the "traditional" bowl/conference tie ins? Of course the obvious answer is MONEY. But, tradition does not seem to be as respected by the power brokers as you would think. So, if the college presidents are willing to forgo the traditions and create things like the BCS and push for conference realignment then it's only natural that the fan is going to demand a true playoff. I'm a big proponent of a playoff. I would be willing to be patient with the process if some sort of a final scenario were presented and a plus-1 were offered as a stepping stone to get there. But, a plus-1 as the end result does no more to settle the controversies than the current system. People keep throwing numbers like "8" and "16" as if that too were going to settle things. The biggest problem is HOW to determine the participants? People say use the current BCS ranking system. REALLY??? The ranking system itself is the starting point of controversy. Anytime you have a system that depends upon an "eye test" and where 2 teams win over the course of a weekend but one can leap frog over the other it becomes, in my opinion, illegitimate. Also, for those that honor tradition, how can you reconcile the differences between how the NFL and FBS determine their champions? No one screams foul when the Super Bowl doesn't pit NFC #1 vs. AFC #1. So why do the traditionalists insist that BCS #1 square off against BCS #2 as the only true way to arrive at a champ?
again the simple question is this, then if the sec is just a product of the bcs then why dont they lose the bcs games?? why have they not lost a single bcs champ game? well except to another sec school!! why dont these other teams just line up and beat them on the field, why has the big10 have more teams in a bcs bowl game then any other conf if the bcs is just set up to help the sec, why is the sec the only team from a major conf that had a team go undefeated but get left out of the bcs champ game? but just for the record speaking of worth, forbes has 4 of the top 10,7 of the top 14 and 8 of the top 20 most valuable college teams as sec schools, just thought you would find that intresting since u spoke of worth
the perpetuation of greatness in your own minds is the only thing keeping you down there. And we sure as heck don't want you up here.If you're quiet at night in the South, you can hear the clamoring of southern sports fans praying that God will bless them and send them to Cincy...so they can freeze and get robbed by the Bengals' starting defensive backfield.
