I sent wral.com (local CBS station in Raleigh, NC) a link to Pete's original blog and the message boards. I'll let y'all know if I hear anything back.

I was blown away last night after reading Little Red's comments.

This would be a big story if it involved any other professional sports organization. Same deal if this was some Hollyweird star's dirty little secret.

Let's see how the spin docs handle this one.

dixemup I'd like to thank you for your interest in Little Red Vogt's response. Little Red is my husband and is not  hard to find via facebook. The phone number is real. He is real. And, his memories are real. Little Red was born Charles Thomas Vogt on March 1, 1934 in Atlanta as the second son of Louis Jerome "Red" Vogt. These facts are easy to confirm. Since Little Red will be 78 in March, his typing isn't what it used to be, but Little Red's memory is sharp as a tack.

He could tell you so much about the beginnings of NASCAR, NSCRA (the predecessor of NASCAR), bootlegging, and all the greats. It's no secret that Bill France, Sr. took NASCAR and made it a national sport. Little Red has never denied that fact. What he disputes is that France founded NASCAR.

Red Vogt was a great man in the racing world and not just NASCAR. As I write this I'm looking at a photo of Little Red Vogt and Smokey Yunick flanking a mock up of the bronze plaque that was placed in the naming of 'RED VOGT GARAGE'  on November 7, 1998. A portion of Smokey's speach was published in Autoweek, April 5, 1999. Smokey knew where credit was due and made it public.

For you historians out there, Little Red Vogt is a primary source, let's hope he doesn't pass before somebody will actually take the time to avail themselves of such a source. It's disappointing that those like Section, his step-mother Betty, and his step-sister, keep insisting that Little Red Vogt doesn't exist. Little Red doesn't need to go researching for what he knows; he LIVED it. Raymond Parks, Red Byron, Roy Hall, Smokey Yunick, Lloyd Seay, the Flocks, Fireball Roberts, et al were uncles, brothers, and contemporaries of Little Red Vogt.

Actuallly Trish, I never said Little Red didn't exist. I was skeptical if the person who posted it was who they claimed to be.

Give me a call if you wish, Section_725 and I can fill in some balnks for you except I am writing a book on my Dad's life and I will not choose to 'blow-the thunder' if you will be so patient with that. 805-878-6892 -- I am not at ll intimedated by discussing any issue regarding these matters as I know all of the History and LIVED it.  And "...all of the misspelled words..." are as a result of my having had eye surgery -- if that passes for an excuse - if I need one.

OK, Section_725,

What do you suppose is ever going to be the KEY {if there is ever to be one} to having you believe anything that is being said by me {or anyone} about the issue of whose ORIGINAL IDEA NSCRA WAS -- THAT LED TO IT BEING REORGANIZED -- AND RENAMED {BY HIM-"RED" VOGT} NASCAR?  AND BTW - For the record ALL OF THE FUNDING FOR BOTH NSCRA AND NASCAR CAME FROM RAYMOND PARKS {IN TOTAL THE MONEY BEHIND NSCRA/NASCAR} WHO ALSO FUNDED William H. G. "Bill" France and made it possible for him to own his Service Station in Florida --{Oh, and BTW, The man who named NASCAR {"RED" VOGT} also paid his Childhood Buddy's way down from Washington, DC in 1934 and gave a job to the then BROKE "Bill" France Family {Anne & "Little Billy"} who LIVED WITH US in our East Lake home in Atlanta, Ga. ------ and so-forth and so-on and-on-and-on-and-on.........

THERE IS, SIR -- OH SO MUCH YOU DO NOT KNOW....................AND IS NOT KNOWN -- and unless I get my book finished I fear may never be known.

Red, I wish you'd try to get to Pete Pistone on NASCAR radio on Sirus radio.  He is on from 7:00AM EST to 10:00 AM EST.  I know that is early for you on the west coast, but to get him to talk to you and let you have your voice would be great.

I wouldn't expect them to allow you to say anything because Pete and all the reporters for NASAR seem to be puppets for NASCAR.

I wish you luck in getting your book out and gettng the NASCAR story out to the world.

I hope you will allow me to jump in here and CONFIRM for you, without any doubt what-so-ever, that Raymond Parks was indeed the SOLE source of funding for "Bill" France, Ossinsky and absorbed virtyally all of the expenses connectd with NSCRA, the precursor to NASCAR and everything to do with NASCAR to get it off the ground until monies from income from the Races began years later to support the Organization.

You need to know that whne "Bill" France and his Family arrived in Florida they did so at the bidding of Raymond Parks and with the financial backing of Raymond.  The "rumor" of "...bags of money being taken down to Daytona/Ormond Beach by various persons under Raymonds employee ..." are absolutely correct!  They many times were packaged at my Dad's Garage on the third floor where the safe was located.

France "did not have a pot to piss in" during those days!!  Where it not for the brillance of my Mom, Ruth Olivia Maddox Vogt and thw solid support of Raymond Parks -- my Dad probably would not have had one either.  When Dad lost my Mom as his Wife due to his very bad behaviour -- he lost what was the potential of The Vogt Racing Dynasty as that is when things began to fall apart for him and for my Brother and Myself.  The one person who really knew that true story other than myself was "Smokey" Yunick -- and he is not here to confirm things for me. Actually just about no one is -- perhaps with the exception of Francis Flock - who really was not that close to it all as was her WONDERFUL HUSBAND, TIM!!

I know Violet Parks knows much more than she has ever talked about as she heard from Raymond but bless her as she has always protected the Vogt Family privacy.

Red, I meant no disrespect to you, I come here to talk about sports, and generally having fun, and tend to avoid "serious" discussions. The clown avatar pertty much sums up how I try to treat these boards. I don't take much of it seriously, and like poke fun at others here.

. Reading some posts by you, as well as the post by Dixie, I believe you are who you claim to be. I never claimed to know everything about NASCAR, especially the early days. I wasn't born until 1970, and only got really into Auto Racing around 1986.

Thank you for the history lesson. Maybe one day your father will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, along with many other deserving individuals who founded NASCAR.
