God..i wished Jerry would just SHUT UP!!!

January 24, 2012 11:30 am

This another reason why this guy is an idiot...and has abosolutely no football knowledge at all...you give him one little piece of information and its like giving a 5 year old a loaded gun with the safety off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cowboys owner/coach/spokesman/G.M. Jerry Jones was asked Monday at the Senior Bowl about the success of the Super Bowl-bound New York Giants.

In Jones’ estimation, the biggest difference between the Cowboys and the Giants is simple: Eli Manning. Ouch.

Calvin Watkins on ESPNDallas.com reports that Jones subsequently offered praise for Tony Romo, possibly in an effort to put the toothpaste back in the tube. But the point seems clear. Jones essentially said that the 31-year-old quarterback of his division rival has a big edge over his own 31-year-old quarterback.

Perhaps this was Jones’ way of sending a message to Romo that he won’t be coddled any more. Even if that’s true, I fully expect Jones to later “clarify” these words and make a show of support for Romo.

It’s also worth wondering if Jones takes an overly simplistic view of what separates the two teams. We’d give the Giants the edge in terms of their pass rush, their coaching continuity, and their ability to make the right front-office decisions.

At least whoever wrote this article has a little common football sense...by his final statement...which is correct...

....how about secondary, offensive line, defensive line.  He does say some moronic things.   It really irks me when he comments on player personnel and who he thinks is doing well etc.  Dude, can't you just sit in the owners box and shutup like the others.  You don't know jack shit**** about the intricacies of football.

I agree, I have about had it with Jones, but you have to be careful reading articles on PFT.  Biggest Romo hater website on the net, and they completely butchered what Jones actually said, which they do pretty much on a daily basis.

When asked to pinpoint the major difference in the Giants’ play here lately that has propelled them back to the Super Bowl, compared to midway through the season when they had lost four straight games, Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones  had an easy answer.

Eli Manning.

For Jones, it starts and ends with the quarterback and from his perspective, he gives Manning the bulk of the credit for the Giants’’ turnaround, although he admits the Giants’ defense and its constant pass-rush pressure is a nice advantage, too.

But when it reflecting on his own team, and trying to compare the two situations, Jones doesn’t necessarily think the Giants have been quarterback play, but maybe just a better supporting cast.

“Their quarterback play, as a team they got better and better near the end,” Jones said. “I don’t want to take anything away, but the big difference was Eli came up here and started what seemed like a pretty significant (run). But the quarterback play with Eli was the huge difference. But I was pretty impressed with how they’ve defense played the last three or four ball games. Eli came up big for them.”

But bigger than Romo? Jones wouldn’t say that.

“I thought Romo was competing at a level that would’ve given us that opportunity but the rest of us need to play better and get better before we can really gel the way the Giants are,” Jones said.

Manning did out-duel Romo on two occasions this year, including the Dec. 11 match-up at Cowboys Stadium, where the Cowboys led by 12 with five minutes to play. But Manning engineered two touchdown drives to help the Giants rally for a 37-34 win, giving Manning a perfect 3-0 record at Cowboys Stadium. Manning passed for 400 yards in that game and another 355 in a playoff-clinching win against the Cowboys in the season finale.

Manning was selected to the Pro Bowl but won’t be able to participate now because of the Super Bowl. He will be replaced by Carolina rookie Cam Newton, who was the first alternate, ahead of Romo as the second alternate.

Romo had a career-high 102.5 quarterback rating and threw 31 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions.

While Jones admitted there is some serious rebuilding to do for 2012, he didn’t sound like quarterback was a concern area at all.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do with our personnel,” Jones said. “The good news is that we’re not starting out at quarterback. We’ve got a competitor there and we’ve got a lot of good skill people around him.”

But obviously not as much help as what Eli Manning got, and is still getting as the Giants’ season rolls on.

And certainly Calvin Watkins isn't the greatest source for information either.  I would think the next day he tries to push Jay Ratliff's buttons will probably be his last.

I read the story and he in no way placed Romo under the bus but from memeory stated that Romo was not the issue here.  He did praise Eli though but that in no way states he believes Romo was an issue IMO.

Now when speaking about Newman, it was what he did not say...that's the story.

Well let's look at the facts

Eli Manning has led his offense with different personnel on each trip now to two Super Bowls.

Tony Romo has led his offense to,...................................
.................................NO
NE.....

Your excuse is it's everybody else.  Here's the problem with that excuse, nobody else threw three picks to destroy the largest lead in Cowboys history in the last forty years Tony Romo did that.   Nobody else decided in the red zone up 17 points to try to take it in the endzone and then fumble the ball when there were three easy points laid out to take,......that was him.  Nobody else bobbled a snap that cost a playoff game,.....that was him.  He was at the helm when we got smashed by the Eagles and Ravens in 08' nobody else.  He was at the helm when we got smashed by the Vikings,....nobody else.  When it was time to find a way to get it done Eli has done that and the offense followed him,...............

One of you Romosapians said "as Tony Romo goes, so goes the offense" or some crap like that.  Well Tony Romo doesn't inspire or lead with his will to get it done so as you said,........so goes this team,.....he shows no real inspiration so they don't either,......why do you continue to blame them when he's the leader and it's his job to be leading by example?   Because you know he's not showing any example or inspiration.

That sounds like what Jerry said in that article.  He sounds like he's tired of Tony Romo not  being more inspired to lead this team to the Super Bowl than he has been.  But when your hero's best come back is "at some point this team's gonna win another Super Bowl",............wow, what a ringing endorsment,...yeah let's follow that guy he sounds confident.

Romo has embarassed Jerry Jones twice now by doing what is unthinkable.  He allowed another QB in his division to get to the Super Bowl (again),......  You seem to keep forgetting that fact.  Tony Romo twice now has been out done by Eli Manning when twice now they faced off and Tony Romo had a chance to beat Eli and the Giants,.....................sounds like Jerry's tired of it.

If I were you I'd tweet Tony and tell him he better get it in gear or he might find himself being shopped to another team in a couple of years, his time seems to be running out with each failed season where he doesn't get us to the Super Bowl.

NO IDIOT !!!! Jerry Jones allowed Eli and the NYG to play in their second Super Bowl !!!!  You say how is that ????  The NYG put an Offensive Line together that protects Eli and gives Eli time to throw the ball.  Unlike Romo who has pratically NO Offfensive Line and is running for his life on every snap.  How many times have you seen Eli get injured ?  Ummm.... NONE.  Romo - Broken Collar Bone, Broken Ribs and Punctured Lung, etc.  Eli is still playing with the Coach that drafted him, Romo is playing with his 3rd coaching staff.  NYG Puts together a good solid team and Coaching Staff that knows what there doing with good preperation, good game planning, and good play calling.  Jerry Jones gets Romo Wade Phillips Mickey Mouse and Co.  Jerry Jones 2009 Draft 12 Picks, 2 years later only 2 players from that draft are still on the team Victor Butler and I don't even know who the other player is.  Eli has a Defense that dominates games and protects leads, unlike Romo his Defense blew eight 4th quarter leads.  You mentioned the Jets game and the Lions game where Romo messed up, but you didn't mention the first Giants game that Romo gave The Cowboys a 12 point lead with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter and the Defense blew it.  How many times did you see the NYG Defense do that ?  NONE  You know what if the Defense protects that lead The Cowboys Win and The Cowboys go to the Playoffs and Eli and the NYG go home.  The Second game against the NYG, The Defense gave up 21 points in the first quarter but you don't mention that, Do you see the Giants giving their opponents double digit leads NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!  Eli is playing in his second Super Bowl because he's has a better team, a team that backs him up, and a team that makes plays for him.

Your excuse is it's everybody else.

A complete lie. Everyone who's addressed you has acknowledged Romo deserves his share of the blame. Learn to read sometime.

That sounds like what Jerry said in that article.  He sounds like he's tired of Tony Romo not  being more inspired to lead this team to the Super Bowl than he has been.

-------

That wasn't what the article said. Again, learn to read. Or have someone read it and explain it to you -- you're reading comprehension is atrocious.

If I were you I'd tweet Tony and tell him he better get it in gear

-------

If I were you I'd tweet your heroes Matt Ryan, Mike Vick, and Josh Freeman and ask them what the fudge happened. After all, you promised wild success for each of these stiff, didn't you?

TR2,

Who blew the snap in 06' that lost the game?

Who couldn't pull back into the lead in 07'? Granted the defense let gate open in the first half,..but Eli has twice now brought the Giants from one game from being elminated to the Super Bowl,......name a season Tony Romo has brought us from being elminated into the playoffs?  He hasn't, because he can't, he's not consistant enough when it counts.

Who got intimidated by Ray Lewis in 08' and lost?

Who got blasted out of the stadium by the Eagles in 08' and never even got us ten points in that game in which the Eagles eliminated us?

Who the next season got blasted by the Vikings by almost the same score as the Eagles game the previous year, not even managing 14 points?

You're either missing the point or don't want to admit to the truth.  He does not possess the ability to do what Eli Manning has done twice now.  PERIOD.  Name a season he's brought the Cowboys from the brink of elimination into the playoffs in his nine years versus Eli with his eight years?

Saying it's everybody else's fault does not change the fact that when Eli needed to he galvanized the team as a whole and led them somewhere twice that Romo hasn't.

Sorry Axe... We sent her the script, but she turned us down and forwarded it to Jessica Simpson since Jessica already had a familiarization with the Cowboys organization...  The good news is that Megan Fox is already signed on for the sequel cause she's still upset about all the money she's lost from getting fired from the Transformers series!

G-strap, you can take Blu's side.. but you will look dumb like him.

Post a link where i ever said the following:

Tony Romo   will win us a SB
"              "  is a GREAT or ELITE QB.
"              "  Is NEVER to blame

you can't... cause I will say it here, as i do everywhere.
Tony Romo IS to blame, just NOT 100% IE = Poor secondary, rookie HC mistakes, bone-head QB play at times...

on the contrary though... I can post links where Blu said:

Michael Vick will lead the Eagles to a SB or multiple playoffs wins
Matt Ryan will do the same
Josh Free will Progress past Tony Romo
Kevin Ogltree is stepping up nicely for #3 WR and a leader, he just has "it" and wants to win a playoff game.

That's 0-4 from the great blu ballz, I can find more, if you want... he's wrong ON EVERYTHING.
Except stating some of the obvious things that have already happened, like TR hasn't stepped up in the playoofs.
