REALLY? Serena has 27 Grand Slam Titles and Venus has 21 Grand Slam Titles!  How many does Oudin have?  ZERO! Who else would you like to put on the team to replace Serena and Venus?  By the way, the last time I looked, The Williams Sisters are AMERICANS.

Serena will lose, then make excuses, then run down everyone and everything. That's after she cursed and threatened an official and scolded a ball girl. Go anyone else.

Serena is a spoiled brat who thinks she can bully her way through a match. Then in the press conference she pulls a Diana Ross diva act. She's pathetic.

Well, well - WHAT a surprise.  Notice which players who actually play to represent their country, year-in, year-out, have participated in Fed Cup play for the US over the past FOUR YEARS:

2008 - Lindsay Davenport, Laura Granville, Ashley Harkleroad, Lisa Raymond
2009 - Melanie Oudin, Alexa Glatch, Liezel Huber, Vania King
2010 - Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Melanie Oudin, Liezel Huber, Christina McHale
2011 - Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Melanie Oudin, Liezel Huber, Vania King

Now, did y'all know that Fed Cup participation, to some degree, is required for a person to be allowed a slot for the US in the Olympics?  IT'S TRUE!!

To play the Olympics (singles, doubles or mixed) players must compete in at least two Fed Cup matches. Venus was on the roster for a tie last season but Serena has not played and therefore must be on the team for both ties this February and again in April to be eligible for participation the summer London Olympics.

I suppose that William and William, you know, the ones whose daddy stated "I'm not even an American, it just so happens that I was born in America", just didn't feel enough of a surge of patriotism during the past few years, to perhaps have helped to prevent the US from being relegated for the first time ever in Fed Cup play... nah, there were no self-serving needs for them to be... 'patriotic'... until now.

Look back in prior threads on this board - I stated months ago that this would occur.

I wonder what the chances are that it's simple irony that William, and his other brother William, suddenly have the urge to participate for the US in this venture?

Pretty small those odds are, methinks.  *LOL*

IT'S 2012!!!  Get ovah playing the RaceCard, William fan-bots!!  Wink

"Serena has 27 Grand Slam titles"

Wrong! She has 13. William SHARES the other 14. Shes 6th on the all time list, thats 6th, not 1st like you'd love for everyone to believe your tribal brother has accomplished.

Archie..

You big dummy!  She has 27 Grand Slam Titles across the board (in Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles).  She is one of the GREATEST and most balanced tennis players of all time.

I never said she was first in Singles.  In fact, Steffi Graf is a better Singles player than Serena.

You are truly ignorant, and still a RACIST.

Stop whining Archie!  The Williams Sisters are choosing to play if they want to.  They have earned the right to play.  Smooches...

Gawd, you're truly stupid...

They have earned the right to play.

Um, sorry - NO, they haven't.  The women who actually HAVE participated for THEIR COUNTRY over the past four years...

2008 - Lindsay Davenport, Laura Granville, Ashley Harkleroad, Lisa Raymond
2009 - Melanie Oudin, Alexa Glatch, Liezel Huber, Vania King
2010 - Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Melanie Oudin, Liezel Huber, Christina McHale
2011 - Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Melanie Oudin, Liezel Huber, Vania King

...are the ones who have EARNED the right to play.

It's 2012... and yet some continue to feel the need to play the RaceCard.

Lindsay was a GREAT player..major props to her!  However, for the rest of the girls you mentioned, they are not that much better than 5.0 material.  The only thing that separates them and some girls who are teaching at the country clubs and tennis facilities are that they are being bankrolled and funded by somebody.  Serena and Venus have earned the right as the best AMERICAN players on tour on the ladies side.  Please tell me how many Slams (excluding Davenport as she is since retired from the main tour) COMBINED that the girls listed above have won.  By the way, I have seen a couple of the girls you listed above at Challenger tourneys.  They have been pushed and have been beaten in some of these tournaments.  They are not world-class tennis players.

Sorry, Archie, but the facts are the facts!

Venus, Serena want those Olympic spots!!

January 27, 2012 5:25 pm

Let's make this really simple for you, RaceCard.

There are those of us who feel that Olympic Singles spots should go to those players who participate for their national teams on a regular basis, a thing which the William brothers (as you can see in the 2008-2011 table, above) have NOT ONCE done during that time, regardless of anything else.  THEY played for the US National Team during the past four years; THEY have earned the spots.

Are you truly so ignorant that you believe that they're suddenly doing so NOW out of some grand burst of 'patriotism'?  *LOL*  I suspect you are.

Let's make this really simple for you, RaceCard.

There are those of us who feel
THAT's the problem, Archie...you go on your feelings which lead to your RACISM!  Like I said in many other posts you have these DOUBLE STANDARDS for Joker, Oudin, Bethany, and the scrubs (exluding Lindsay) that you listed above, who have trouble with country club pros at Challenger events.  Let's make this really simple for you, you are a RACIST, who has DOUBLE STANDARDS!

Venus, Serena - 'self serving', y'think?

January 28, 2012 3:28 pm

And, yet again, the point being made goes completely over your head.  *LOL*  The degree of your ignorance is staggering.

And, I'll say (yet again)... it's 'Bethanie'.  Perhaps after 3 or 4 times of informing you of such, it'll sink in.
