Boise Ducking Arkansas?

Per Twitter @NWAMatt: Boise State's AD tells the Idaho Statesman the Broncos aren't likely to play Arkansas at Cowboys Stadium in 2012. 15 minutes ago What up with that? Why would Boise turn down that kind of money to play another SEC patsy? Arkansas fans really want to play this game. Arkansas is breaking in a totally new defense while Boise is rebuilding its offense. This could be a great game. You Scare?

could be because Boise State already has 12 games for next year including at Michigan St., and at Hawaii, they can play a 13th game to help make up the cost of travel to Hawaii but to travel to Dallas as well would be a bit much for a young team, are looking for a home game to make up the cost.

Boise would get 5 million to play in Dallas if they could sell their allotment. The dates are open or it wouldn't even be an issue. It does not look good for a team who plays the disrespect card to turn down an opportunity to play real competition. So they have a solid OOC in Michigan State but that is not enough to even break into the top 100 SOS. Go undefeated with wins over Arkansas and Mich State and you have earned a spot in the title discussion. If the go undeafeated next season and get left out for a one BCS AQ team they can go cry to congress all they want but they will have not earned the right to play in the title game.

I read today that Boise State is looking for a home game, as they already have 6 road games scheduled. @ Hawaii gives the Broncos a extra game to offset the travel costs. Arkansas has 7 home games and only 4 road games so far next year, maybe the would go to Boise?

So, what kind of money did they turn down?  Why do all these neutral site games that Boise is asked to play in STLL have a southern flavor?  Why the Rose Bowl?  Why not Arrowhead stadium?  Or Memorial Stadium in Lincoln Nebraska.  Better yet, why not just a regular home and home?  I'm sure Boise would pay Arkansas the same that Arkansas would pay Boise.

Is that the same money Arkansas is getting?

Boise gets 5 million if it sells the full allotment to Arlington. And it is a home and home at a neutral site. Arkansas is just looking for a replacement for A&M who backed out of the contract because of the realignment. And do really believe any CFB fan outside of Boise wants to visit Boise? The site is great because it has so much to offer. I've been to Boise. Very nice people and a nice town but not much going on for visitors.

BigRed, Boise is the contender, they should travel.  And why play in a small stadium (Boise) when you can play in a coliseum?  It looks alot like Boise is ducking. BSU has to prove to the nation that they are worthy to play with the big boys, Arkansas doesn't. And this is based on historical achievements.  I know it shouldn't but it does, that's why OU is ranked #1 every year only to not do anything with it...

Arkansas fans love Dallas and sold their allotment to both the SWC and Cotton Bowl. The only city I'd rather play in is NOLA and that might only be because of the BCS bowl excitement.

BTW I appreciate you taking up Boises cause because it seems the fans are also ducking this thread.

Are you going to really answer my questions?  What is the payout for Arkansas?  And once again why a neutral site that is more southern than anything else?  Finally why not a rreal home and home?  Allergic to blue turf?

Almost every conference in the country has teams with huge stadiums and stadiums--not so big.  If this is suposedly a home and home why put it on a southern "neutral field"?

RazorVet, do you have a link to where Boise State will make 5 million? Boise played @ Fed-Ex (@95,000) and made 1.25, 2 years ago and @ Georgia Dome, last year and made 1.25 million. What is Boise State's allotment 100,000? I think your mistaken or full of it, that Boise would turn down 5 million to play 1 game @ Dallas.

Not that long ago:

Arkansas played #2 Texas in Austin in 2008.  Texas built a 52-3 and pulled its starters. 
The Hogs score a last second meaningless TD versus Texas walk-ons to make it 52-10.

Arkansas was scheduled to play Texas at home in Fayetteville in 2009.
Bobby Petrino cancelled the game because it made the "Schedule too challenging" after the 52-10 beatdown.
I imagine a home game versus the #2 ranked Longhorns at night was worth a fortune. 
But, they cancelled in blatant cowardice rather then make a fortune playing Texas.

Houston Nutt was so thoroughly embarassed by his Alma Mater he offered Texas a one-way HOME game in Austin versus Ole Miss.
Mack Brown accepted the series, but Mack insisted it be a fair HOME/HOME series with the Rebels.
That is why Texas is playing Ole Miss next season.

Well, if what I think you are saying is that Arkansas fans won't travel, then fine. You mention Dallas.  You're going to a football game NOT Disneyland.  I know for a fact that Fayetville (spelling) doesn't have anymore to offer entertainment wise than Boise.  And it's not that much bigger.  I mean how many bars and strip joints do you need?

Boise has the better track record in BCS  games (than Arkabsas),  they don't need to cower to anyone.  And by the way...my guess is--because you won't tell me, Arkansas is probably being paid ten million dollars.  

One of the biggest reasons I support Boise like I do is because Nebraska went through what Boise is right now albeit 50 years ago.    And if you're wondering why no Boise fans have responded?  They've been there, done that and are tired of being insulted.             

Arkansas sells its allotment so we get the full 5 million. If Boise fans travel as well as they claim and they sell the full allotment they make 5 million. I thought I answered the questions as well as possible. My reasoning for more games being in the south is people seem to enjoy nice weather. I'm starting to think someone here might be closet Boise fans posing. Otherwise why would a Husker fan not have knowledge of an offer to answer Boises "Any one, Any where, Any time" by the Huskers being replied to win a demand for 2 million for a game. It seems all the appoligists forgot it was Boise who called out the CFB world daring them to play Boise. Well here it is. Boise could have 5 million to play in the worlds premier sports venue. Any thing but a yes is just posturing and ducking a real schedule. Boise fans need to call the AD and tell them they want this game and will be in Dallas supporting the team. Or stop pretending your AD didn't really mean "Some one we think is beatable, when we think we can beat them, where we think we can win." And he'll yes I'm allergic to blue turf. That field makes my eyes bleed. It's time every team in CFB match the field to the home jersey color and see how long it takes the NCAA to ban that abomination. And even in that cesspool of a stadium Arkansas would be happy to go play Boise for 5 million.

And Texas agreed to let Arkansas out of that deal so they could do the ten year SWC deal. The year Texas beat Arkansas Texas was in the NCG and Arkansas failed to make a bowl game. It was an all freshman team playing a top five team on the road. We lost big. It happens. It happened to Boise the last time they played Arkansas, it happened to Arkansas at LSU this year, it happened to Texas when they played Arkansas in the Cotton. That will happen unless you play better defense against your schedule than you do your opponent on the field. Remember that Arkansas didn't proclaim their arrival to the CFB world with "Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere" and we are just trying to recognize Boise as a quality opponent that the fans would love to see play. And if any of you Yanks know of a stadium with an owner in the tundra who is willing to pay Arkansas 5 million to come play then please have them tweet Jeff Long and make the offer very public so he can't deny us the opportunity out of defensive scheduling.
