nobody forgot about gary payton. this topic is about rookie seasons. as in, "ricky rubio is having the best rookie season since Magic johnson"
the glove didn't have a great rookie season. Those players i listed had GREAT rookie season. GP did not.
Dude, that was not my interperation, above is the first post on the thread.
This is correct. Not basing these comments on stats.....I just used those rookie stats to support the argument. My position is solely based on what my eyes are telling me. Obviously, the stats help to affirm what I believe I'm seeing in his impact on the game.
Looking at the T-Wolves +/- differentials for this year per player, Rubio is sitting at +101 while the closest teammate is only at +55 range, with Love at a +51. This boy brings some big chips to the table on a nightly basis.
I hear you Inimical..........but the T-Wolves just went over .500 for the first time since Garnett, without Kevin Love. Rubio's stat line is bongers to me. Didn't see the game, but I know Rubio was passed over by the Kings in the 2009 Draft, as they took Tyreke Evans. Players pay attention to that stuff. Tyreke Evans ended up with 11pts-4reb-3asst, something like that. While Rubio ended with a 6pt-6reb-14asst-5stls......and the win. Without watching the game, it just makes me think that Rubio is what I think he is. He's young. His body isn't mature yet. Magic had Lebron size, even taller. Rubio isn't capable of doing the things Magic could do as far as rebounding, but he can pass the rock. Derrick Williams needs to be on the court for at least 30 minutes per game. The Wolves have the pieces available to make some roster moves in order to clear room for Williams to get those minutes. They need to find the right pieces that fit around Rubio. He could have the Wolves as a #3 seed for the next 10 years if they make a move for somebody like Dwight Howard. They've got the pieces, including Love.
