any kid that signed with OU after Boo was fired was recruited by Stoops, not Boo.
Stoops had no idea who Boo was after becasue the arsehole Blake destroyed all the recruiting records.
at least 12 kids that played in 2000 when OU won the MNC were recruited by Stoops

wheat i don't know what you mean by this other then stoops FIRED some players he can't do that. Besides the articale said blake recruited over half the players on the 2000 team.

Ok, let's settle down, here's the truth. Yes, Josh Norman, Antoine savage, Roy Williams, rocky, thatcher, both the lines, yes, all boos players. However, Josh Huepel and Jason white and Nate hybl were not boos qbs. That was Brandon Daniels. Let's face a truth, it took bob showing up to have half these guys in the right positions. Josh was a db/rb that got converted to te (well, slot), rocky was a middle who should have been weak side and was made so when bob arrived. Jt thatcher was a rb as well who never played special teams. That worked out. See shel, I agree with who recruited them, but I also know who coached them into something special.
Well chapity you may have hit on something here cause i never disagreed on who coached them i just disagreed on the players thats all. And like i said before MOSTLY BLAKES PLAYERS.
I guess you could say mostly Blakes players when 10 players Stoops recruited played or started during 2000....but it still doesn't change the fact that Boo was the worst HC in OU history and didn't have a focking clue how to be a HC.
And if you want to argue about it, Boo's winning percentage of .353 (12-22) is the worst in OU history, bar none. There have been only 3 coaches in OU history that never got above a .500 record and both ended up bettrer than Boo. Gomer Jones was 9-11 for .452 and Lewie Hardage was 11-12 for .481.

of course a coach can't fire a kid, good lord. that's not what I said.
I said that any kid that was recruited to OU after Boo was fired, was recruited by Stoops, not Boo.
Not that I want any part of trying to explain things to certain folks, just to difficult for me. But who gets credit for a player that was on campus, but the new staff changed him to a different position. Do you give Blake the credit for that player or would you give Stoops credit for looking at his skill set and giving him a chance to succeed. IMHO I would give that player a Stoops check mark. John Blake made it painful to be a Sooner fan, he had the ability to get the least out of a player like nobody else. Is there not some board devoted to the greatness of John Blake that people can go to so the rest of us don't have to relive the hell that was his time as the Sooners HC. Blake blows. Thank GOD we now have to deal with 3 losses being a horrible season rather than a great one.
Wheat i never disagreed that blake was a bad coach, i just disagreed about the players that he recruited.
While that may be technically true, Shel, you have said about 100 million times (Ok, that may be a little exaggeration) that Boo deserved more time, that he was turning the program around. The implication there is that he was a good coach but just didn't have enough time.
plus he said Stoops won with Blakes players, the implication being Bob didn't recruit anybody who played or contirbuted to the 2000 MNC, when roughly half of them were Stoops recruits.
LOL now this is a funny thread. The only thing Boo was good at other than recruiting was dominating the Chinese food buffet where I'd see him constantly when I worked there back in grad school in the late 90s at this restaurant. Saw him 2-4 times a week, and I only worked 5 days a week. The place lost money on him...
And I do remember the Spring Game....you know, the place where hope springs eternal. Boo: "We're going to run the option with Brandon Daniels." Great. Oh how #8 could run past our defensive ends. It seemed like Jamelle had returned, that is, of course, until we faced a real team and got stuffed every time. Fortunately we somehow beat Texas that year, otherwise we could have gone 0-11 in 1996.
Boo is not the worst IMO, but he was a nice guy, which played into his recruiting advantage. I did not know he did things like erase the hard drives and such. Seems very sad an OU player would do that to his own school!
I'd wager Howie Pass-The-Bourbon-Please Schnelly was worse, although his record was better, although skewed by only being there one year. Just putting those dorky stripes on the sleeves of the unis was bad enough, let alone his water-depriving tough-guy ways.
Let's do face facts, gentlemen. Stoops brought in little Stoops and some guy named Mike Leach. While the cupboard was never truly bare in Normantown prior to Stoops (just unmotivated), these coaches utilized the existing players' talents very well, and also recruited some guy named Josh Heupel. Without Mike Leach, I doubt Heupel would have come to OU.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Sometimes it's best to look at the past to appreciate the present.
