And before you say, "Well, teams will look more for 'premium' positions like offensive tackle or rush defensive end or shut-down corner, that's why he's rated lower," there are 10 WRs on that list. Robinson, according to CBS Sports (for what that's worth), isn't among the ten best free agent WRs.
Well for what's it's owrht, tha'ts a pretty SOLID list. So, for him to bemaybe like 11, with a list of 0 guys like tha tisn't bad. (not saying he's 11), just for sake of argument. Either way, most of those WR's will be inked up by their teams... Unless something Crazy happens.
I can see the actions jacksons departing, if niehter of them get franchise tags. They have both been outspoke about the contact and organization. Other than that, the guys listed are the teams ONLY WR threats... so maybe that puts Robinson, just inside that list, #9?
Agree about the Jacksons -- I think it's possible both wind up with new teams.
Bowe should re-up with KC; wondering if Buffalo has the $$$ to re-sign Steve Johnson.
The Saints have Colston, Moore, Meacham, Henderson, and a young Adrian Arrington (whom them like). I'm guessing they'll re-sign either Colston or Meacham, not both.
Welker should go back to the Pats -- he fits too well there. Quite frankly, I think the Pats should make a push to sign DeSean Jackson -- that's the deep threat they're missing.
Colts are likely in rebuilding mode -- not sure Wayne gets re-signed there.
That's basically the way I see it.. so if lets say 60% of the "top" free agents, don't make it to free-agency, the article is moot and Robinson could still get thrown big money.
Now - all you have do is look at his 4 prior seasons, he didn't even equal the stats he had last year, or even see the field that much? Why? Is he not really that good? Was it the Cowboys system where everyone but ogletree seems to be able to step in when asked and have production? Was he a small college, late high school WR tha took awhile to develope? (Mile Austin)?
I just don't know, I don't think I am some kind of scout, and I hope we get to keep him, and JJ does it right. He is a really, really, good #3.
Lance Moore signed a 5yr 20mil deal to stay in NO this year. I think that should be about the breaking point for Dallas signing Robinson. If the market is more than that for him, congrats and thanks for your services.
Why's that Axe? Lance Moore only got 200 yards less and 2 TD's less... on a team where a QB can target 10 different "pass catchers" a game ya know? 4 WR's, 2-3 TE's, 2-3 RB's lol
You know... Sean Payetons scheme is the BEST for a QB to play in... that much leverage... that many options to throw the ball too. Wish we still had him.
Lance Moore lacks the size most teams look for in a number 1 or 2 receiver. Robinson is prototypical. Life is hard for guys who don't fit the mold, just ask Jesse Holley. He can't run a sub-4.5 second 40, so he is labeled athletically challenged. He runs a 4.6, Dez runs a 4.5. Funny how much difference one tenth of a second makes...not that it seems to hurt guys like Welker who also runs a 4.6 or Emmit Smith, who was always too small and too slow his entire life. Anyway, rant over. Point is, Laurent Robinson gets a bigger contract than Lance Moore because that's what teams look for, a combination of size and speed.
Isn't it amazing how much a 10th of a second means in football in terms of how good a player could be. Financially, the difference is in millions of dollars. I wish someone would clock or develope the field speed and mix that in with structured track speed.
I like that Robinson is not on the top 50 list and hope they do not do a "Roy Williams".
