LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -

This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.

THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!

PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, NBA, Soccer, MLB, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.

RULES FOR POSTING -

We take it upon ourselves to donate our time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. We will not track your LOCKs if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, we won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.

- Post only 1 LOCK per day.  You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week.  A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday.  Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL.  You do not have to stay in one sport.  Spread them around if you like.

- No "buying" points for LOCKS.

- We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit . If the LOCK is not posted within 30 minutes of the scheduled CBS start time the LOCK will not count.

- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc

- First half or mini lines are OK.  No second half or quarter lines. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.   

- No parlays. Period.

- Props are OK as long as you give a site where we can check the line.

- Hockey, baseball, and soccer plays need to be -129 or better.  No HUGE favorites for LOCKS.  Anything -130 and over, take the -1.5 goals or runs if you feel like it is still a LOCK.

- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.

- LOCKs MUST be posted 30 minutes before the time CBS says the game is set to go off, anything less than 30 minutes the LOCK will not count.

And, THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!

You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on the said team.

JAN 28 LOCKS

Hello LOCK Thread!  On a good little run lately in Pac-12 and I have a play for today.  NOT A LOCK!

Arizona State and Washington State under 129.5 is my favorite play for today (so far).  Arizona State can't score practically at all and have played some mediocre defensive teams in their last 3 and have scored 54, 43, and 54.  WSU is medicore defensively also, which should be enough to hold down ASU's below-average offense.  Maybe the biggest factor here is that Washington State's best offensive option, Faisel Aden, is hurt and doubtful for the game.  I think doubtful is being optimistic and I doubt he plays.  If he does, he will probably hurt the team even more on the whole as they usually run their offense through him and he is their only guy who can create his own shot.  I expect the Cougs to be really stagnant on offense and add that to the Sun Devils' ugly offense in general, and I think that 130 will not be reached.  I don'e expect either team to reach 60 in this one, creating an easy under.  Good luck today everyone.

Lock ....Pittsburgh -1 ........ Tray Woodall is the difference to a good Pittsburgh team and a bad one. Pittsburgh is going to start a winning streak because IMO they're a bubble team and they need quality wins. Today they're up against a top 10 team in Georgetown. Pitt is 11-0 at Peterson Evans Center against top 10 teams. Georgetown is 1-6 in there last 7 ATS and I believe they'll lose straight up today. Look for Pitt to win by double digits. Love Pitt today.

I like this one too heyjoed123.  Just too many games Sat, and it didn't make my final cut.  I think GTown is overrated for sure, and you are getting some value on Pitt still after their major slump.

I disagree about them being a bubble team though.  They have a sh!t-ton of work to do to get back on the bubble.

morning, 5-2 yestreday wanted to post this early as line will go against us

Memphis TT over 97 (guessing my total isn't out yet) - Grizzlies have to be focused to end this rd trip on high note after difficult loss to Clippers in which they shot 37.5% yet still managed 91pts. They've had a bit of bad luck with scheduling on this rd trip losing to Blazers after huge, energy sapping comeback nite before against Warriors and catching a pissed off Clippers team. This is a good spot catching Suns on a b2b, and Phx has shown that they allow poorer offensive teams to come into the desert and find success (Cavs 101, Nets 110 and Raptors 99) and I think Memphis is a big step up from those teams. I think Memphis will be very aggresive from the get go and not let up for all 4 qtrs. GL

Good morning Lockers thought i would try and post early since my last few locks have been really late.  I really like this game in the Pac 12 today.  UCLA has been playing very consistent on the offensive end of the floor scoring points and coming from 4 or 5 guys getting into double figures.  UCLA will also benefit from Josh (cheeseburger) Smith who seems to contribute at home scoring in double figures. UCLA the last five games have been scoring an average of 74 PPG. UCLA has went over the total the last 4 out of 5 games at home.  This is a must win for UCLA to have any chance at getting back into the Pac 12 race.  Colorado needs this win to stay with the rest of the teams trying to win the Pac 12 title and a road sweep in So CAL would be great.  With all of this on the line I see lots of fouls at the end of the game and the total not standing a chance.  UCLA 78  Colorado 67.  Good luck on your plays.

I am taking the Dortmund Over 2.5 in Germany at 9:30 they have been in great form and I see them getting 3 in this one themselves. I been tailing and hitting a lot, So if this doesn't hit, I'll be back to that. On Bovada/Bodog its at -150 .. but I think it may get to 3 by game time. Either way I like the over .. good luck fellas.

Sorry to Shock N Yall , not sure if I was being a jerk or not. Regardless it was a dik move on my behalf to call out a losing card. I never like to see anyone lose besides the guys we're going against. I wish you luck on all your plays. Again wasn't really neccessary for me to mess with you in the first place. Its something I used to have happen to me and its annoying. I blame work being slow, I just needed some entertainment. Again good luck and no hard feelings.

Liverpool have made it to Wembley in the carling cup but I don't see them going any further in this one. They only played on Wednesday in a good battle against Man C so they could rest Bellamy, who has been ther best player recently. Carroll is still yet to fire and they havn't been great at home. 'Man Utd got a great win at Arsenal and played well and are nice and rested.  Liverpool lack fire power IMO and United will be dangerous going forward. Rooney should be fit enough to start but ,they will have Nani and Valencia who are sometimes more important to have playing than Rooney. There will be plenty of strikers lining up to take his place. Welbeck, Hernandez and Berbatov will be ready.Could be tight but I can see United having enough to win this one against a tired Liverpool especially if they score early. If not fresh legs will prevail late IMO . Man U to win this and a draw will get your moolah back. I see a nice Man u win though.

First official pick on here.  Taking WVU +10.5 at Cuse.  Huge Cuse fan.  Our win vs. Cincy made us feel like we can do well even w/o Fab Melo.  Freshman Christmas stepped up.  But Cincy plays a lot of 3-guard (and occassional 4 guard sets).  They were not the team to best exploit Fab's absence.  W Va on the other hand is a great rebounding team. Jones is an absolute menace on the offensive glass and of course Klicli is a giant with skills.  tough ask for our freshman.   I see WVU controlling the boards and getting points in that fashion.  Reason to pick against WVU: they were dreadful at MSG the other night on both ends.  just brutal.  but i actually think that helps in this spot. i dont expect two in a row like that. what would concern me is that Cuse has been ICE cold from 3 over 4-5 games now.  due to snap out of it.  a few of those drop early and things change.  but barring a barrage of threes, I see this game in single digits from start to finish.   NOT A LOCK.  Just a pick.  WV +10.5
