Azarenka wins Australian Open women's title, ta...

The fans probably needed the constant screaming (from the players) in order to stay awake in this one. Normally, a match that went 1 hour and 22 minutes would be considered very short but in this case the fans were probably more than ready to escape all the screaming. What an over all tragedy for the ticket holders.

Sharapova should give back 1/2 her earnings to repay fans who attended.

Agree with the first comment, I got up at 2:30am to watch this game and after the first couple games I'm wide awake, it's like a screaming match out there I had to lower the volume so I dont wake up my neighbor. This is getting out of hands and some of the players do this purposely as a distraction to the opponent, WTA need to really look into this crap.

I figured she would win. I mean if she beat Clysters , she was sure to beat Sharapova.

On the bright side, after over a year of having a #1 player who has never won a slam, at least the woman now have a #1 that has. The idea that Wozniacki spent an entire year at #1 without even making a slam finals was absurd. Almost as absurd as seeing that happen and failing to fix their ranking system.

NC4, you'll very often give good commentary and insight here in the forums, and I like reading your posts, but I've got to disagree with you strongly on this one.  The shreiking does need to have a halt put to it, true - we're in total agreement there.  I have to say that I actually didn't notice it much during this match.

I wonder if you did see any of the match, though... as the quality contained within it was QUITE good.  The serving was fine - Maria's DF count was low, with only three of them; Vic had four.  The rallys were very often fantastic to see.  Both women were hitting the ball very hard, and with good, deep placement.  Maria's play was actually quite good, but Victoria's play, which was 'out of this world', makes it appear that Maria's play was substandard, which is a misnomer.  Vic exploited Maria's lesser mobility laterally, and constructed points which eventually got her out of position, the majority of which Vika won.

With that in mind, the UE count accounted to Maria is very, very misleading; the majority of those errors were FORCED by Azarenka's exceptionally good ball placement - very deep near the baseline, and all-too-often for Maria close to the sidelines.  The final shot that Maria had to make during too many of those rallys, but couldn't... yeah, they were reachable, but they were generally very difficult shots to make.

You missed what was, in actuality, a very good, high-quality match.

Clysters should of been runner-up. She was put on the wrong side of the bracket.

Hey DumbA@s Archie,  how can you have a forced, unforced error?  I will give you a tidbit Lassie, it is being discussed in the tennis circle, because logically it'd be a forced error.. as in somebody puts pressure on you and put you in distress, like getting you on the run, etc. and you hit in the net, wide, or long.  An unforced error is more like a missed overhead slam, or slicing a ball in the net without being in distress.  You are a dumba@s though and you follow the crowd anyway.

Not sure why I brought it up, because you have the mind of a juvenile and you probably can't comprehend the difference anyway.

Smoochies to ya Archie!

These girls scream because they put balls underneath their skirt and when they move, the balls tickle their vag's.

After top seeds are put in the bracket everyone else is supposedly chosen by random.  This may or may not be the case....Out of 128 players, how did Isner and Mahut draw each other at Wimbledon?

It is often the case that one who is being soundly defeated in a debating variety of discourse resorts to ever-increasing (or decreasing, depending upon your point of view *LOL*) levels of childishness, and uneducated trains of thought.  Congratulations on continuing that trend.

Suuuuure Archie....don't be mad because your logic about unforced errors versus forced errors is faulty!  It is also faulty with many of the experts and it is being addressed.  I can't fault you much on this one --eventhough you and your buttee (i mean buddy) are some really weird dudes/dudettes.

Soundly defeated?  I am not in a debate contest with you!  I am not looking to win points and win the match!  What an idiot! I feel sorry for your Mama and wife, hubby, Erupp and whoever else you are intimate with.

BigKittyJS, I must admit that I prejudged this one and didn't watch a second of it.  The rallies that you spoke of couldn't have been great in numbers as the match went 1h22m and Maria takes all of 40 seconds between serves as she walks around trying to avoid stepping on lines and all her other nuances.  I just couldn't bring myself to watch this one.

Although Sharapova is usually nice to look at, anyone else find it strange seeing a picture of the loser at the top of this article? Why not a pic of Azarenka, you know, the WINNER? I doubt CBS will put up a shot of the Super Bowl loser with their headline next Sunday night.
