LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -

This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.

THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!

PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, NBA, Soccer, MLB, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.

RULES FOR POSTING -

We take it upon ourselves to donate our time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. We will not track your LOCKs if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, we won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.

- Post only 1 LOCK per day.  You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week.  A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday.  Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL.  You do not have to stay in one sport.  Spread them around if you like.

- No "buying" points for LOCKS.

- We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit . If the LOCK is not posted within 30 minutes of the scheduled CBS start time the LOCK will not count.

- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc

- First half or mini lines are OK.  No second half or quarter lines. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.   

- No parlays. Period.

- Props are OK as long as you give a site where we can check the line.

- Hockey, baseball, and soccer plays need to be -129 or better.  No HUGE favorites for LOCKS.  Anything -130 and over, take the -1.5 goals or runs if you feel like it is still a LOCK.

- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.

- LOCKs MUST be posted 30 minutes before the time CBS says the game is set to go off, anything less than 30 minutes the LOCK will not count.

And, THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!

You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on the said team.

Good Morning Everyone!

I went 3-0 on posted plays yesterday but did get a little lucky on Ohio St. covering the 14 at the end. That brings my record to 47-41 (2 Unit plays) and 2-1 (Locks, 5 Unit Plays) and last week I wend 8-2 (2 Unit) and 1-1 (5 Unit) for a +9.9 Units. Looking at keeping that going into this week. I'll try and be back on later with my plays.

It's been awhile since I've last posted here.  I've been doing my best to get a handle on Bonnies basketball but they are so up and down this year I would rather not LOCK them.  So I have expanded the focus area to see if I can find any good plays.  The last couple of weeks I have seen some things here and there but nothing I feel to strongly about. 

That leads us to tonight's games.  Not a very competitive slate but I have found a game that I really like here.  The benefit of playing this game is that not too many people follow the IVY league schools.  The plus here is that the IVY league style of basketball is much more consistent and plays out the way that it should more often than not.  To some of you that may not make sense, but to those who have capped and watched basketball for more than just an entertainment value, you know what I'm talking about.

The Penn Quakers are 2-0 in their conference and they are playing a big game tonight against Princeton.  Princeton is stumbling a bit this year with a very young core of players and they desperately need this game.  Vegas understands that the common guy knows this.  That's why the spread started at only -2 in favor of Penn and has dropped to -1.5 in some books. 

What I'm telling you is that Penn is a very good team both offensively and defensively.  Zach Rosen is a very solid player who is also one of the better leaders in the country.  He runs the team and exemplifies the way the IVY league basketball is played.  The X-factor though for making this pick is Tyler Bernardini.  He has really improved his game from the start of the season and is playing his best basketball of the season. 

The Quakers have been dogs in their last three games and have won them outright.  They are starting their conference play and they will open up tonight with a big win against Princeton.

I have my first play of the day and it is a big one:

LOCK  Pitt +6  5 Units

Pitt is playing their best basketball of the season since the return of star Travon Woodall. Woodall really sets up their offense and for the first time this season Pitt looks like a Big East contender. Pitt knows that they have to basically win out or win the big east tournament to have a shot at the big tournament. West Virginia on the other hand might come in with a bit of a hangover from Saturday's heartbreaking loss at Syracure. West Virginia has been good at home this year but against the better teams teams they have faced at home (Cincy, Miss St, Baylor) they are 2-1 and only wone those two games by two and three points respectively. I look for a close game throughout coming down to one or two posessions at the end with Pitt pulling out a win in a must win game at the buzzer. Pitt 67-66.

Same here terrible calls in soccer over the weekend  and yesterday was really bad 1-1-6 on my plays. Watched Inter and Arsenal games.
Lecce goalie really made some incredible saves off some great headers that I thought were going in for sure. Maybe it was the mask that gave him the superhero look. The linesman also waved off two goals for inter,one off a header that came back off a post and the other I thought was a bad call. Title hope is gone for Inter now.

I will regroup and sit things out, good luck today. Dirt nice work keep it going. I can't disagree with you on your midgetmen. Already put  huge bets ont the Giants team tot over (lock) Giants with points (lock) game over and Giants ML. I really don't see the Pats winning this especially with the Gronk high ankle sprain.

MIZZOU/TEXAS UNDER 145 1/2.  The spread and the total on this game look pretty good. If both teams play well it makes sense that it would be played in the low 70's and go down to the wire. These 2 met recently at Mizzou and the result was an 84-73 Tiger win. Mizzou went 8 for 10 from the 3pt. line in the first half and led 43-30 at the break. They went cold in the second, shot 2-10 from 3 but managed to still produce as Texas outscored them only 43-41. Texas plays much better defense at home and the fact that they were unable to stop the Tigers from scoring even when they weren't making their 3's at Columbia would indicate that they will have to focus all the more on defense tonight. The Tigers only managed to score 63 against Texas Tech in their last game which was at home. Seems likely that they will not burn up the scoreboard vs. a much stronger Longhorn team that will out rebound them and will do everything they can to have this game played in the 60's instead of the 80's like the last time they met. 

There's another way to approach this and I'm going to stick my neck out and do that as well. I played:

MIZZOU TEAM TOTAL UNDER 73       and also       TEXAS TEAM TOTAL UNDER 72 1/2.

If I am right about how the game plays out both of these will cash. If one team plays great and dominates the other should be a split. The only risk here (in my mind) is a shootout with poor defense on both sides. This seems unlikely enough to me that I think this is a relatively safe way of playing the Game Under.

I like Texas tonight at home vs. Mizzou.  Mu is playing their 4th game in nine days and Marcus Denmon is struggling lately shooting at only a 29% clip _ I think his struggles continue on the road tonight.  The Longhorns can be very testy at home, and they have the big bodies to make life troublesome for Mizzouri's big Man Ricardo Radliff.



"These two played at Mizzou just over two weeks ago. The Tigers won by nine but Texas outrebounded them 41-30 and lost because the Tigers hit 10-21 from long range and got to the line seven more times. Now the venue switches to the Frank Erwin Center, where the Longhorns are 12-1 with only loss coming to #4 Kansas."  (sportswagers) 

Mizzouri had difficulty on the road last year and I'm not convinced that this year is much better for them- they are just 3-2 on the road this year.

Texas has had some difficulty closing games out this year, but that's been mostly road games.  J'Covan Brown has been hot his last two games, but he will need some help against Mizzou tonight. 

I still like the Longhorns at home getting one point.

I expect this to be a tightly contested game where defensive stops are going to be needed, so I'm also leaning on the under 145.5 here.  Six of Six between these teams when playing at Texas have gone under since 1997 (Big 12 was every other year at home in North vs. South for most of this).

I also like BMW's N. Colo pick - No. Ariz has an RPI of 325.

Before I posted I read my writeup and thought that I made a decent case to take Texas+1. Then the very next post is BudBud taking Texas and making a decent case for the Under. SO......adding TEXAS+1 over MIZZOU. As a fan this isn't easy for me but I have to admit it's the right play going in. At least I will get a little comfort if Mizzou is able to pull off a win. If they lose I get some cash to ease the pain. GL today everybody.

Bulls -4.5 1st half
Bulls TT over 50 1st half - Bulls should be well rested having been home all of last week playing only 3 games with 4 games off. Bulls play well on b2b and well off loss and have been putting up good 1st half numbers last few (64 v. Phx, 63 v. Cavs, 59 v. Nets, 54 v. Ind and 51 v. Bucks) and I expect them to come out razor sharp off tough loss to Mia. Wiz's honeymoon with new coach should end as they have 2 wins both against Cha. Wiz tend to allow a lot of 1st half points (58 to Hou, 51 to OKC, 61 to Den, 62 to 76ers) are horrible from 3pt, do not get to FT line much and get owned on the boards (32-42 v Cha, 44-55 v. Hou) and occassionaly have a ton of turnovers, not a good recipe against Chi off a loss. They just allowed 99pts to Cha and Bobcats were without 2 top leading scorers.  Also a good sign for points is last meeting bt/w 2 had vegas total of 180.5 and went well under at 142pts (78-64 Bulls) and yet Vegas has raised this line to 190, red flag and tells me points should be a plenty at least to begin. GL
