Other Options At QB - I.E. NFL Rookie QB's?

This is a team that was in literal shambles when Shanahan came in and he and Bruce Allen are righting the ship
Mike Shannahan is fired with another 6-10 or worse season a .500 record is the only thing that should save his job.

this team was a year removed from being .500 and was destoryed by what all of you would call an inept head coach

shannhan has failed in 2 years to turn this around 3 strikes and he will be out

IMCO if we don't get RG III don't waste a draft pick on a QB, if he doesn't win shannahan will be fired and the new coach will bring in his own guy...... see John Beck and Chad Henne

A name no one seems to mention is Darron Thomas from Oregon he is very athletic and many probably see him as a position change but his numbers as a passer are very impressive and he could be drafted late he could be very succesful in our offense rolling out on bootlegs and creating time for our receivers to get open.
could be, but i dont think he's ready to start right away.

not with Jim Zorn as our head coach, he would never improve our offense.

I have already stated that I'd rather have Flynn or RGIII at QB, but I watched some video of Tannehill this weekend and he's starting to interest me. He won't be ready to start the season, but he seems to be a pretty smart player to make the transition and play as well as he did after starting his college career as a WR. He would also have some value if we use a gimmick play where someone else plays QB and he goes out for a pass. ;)

Here's something that Rotoworld posted about him in their underrated column.

2. Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill (6-4/222/4.65) - The former Aggie wide receiver is a natural quarterback, possessing a strong arm and compact release while handling movement in the pocket very well. Where Tannehill falters at times is his decision making, trusting his receivers to make plays on contested catches -- many of which did not go Tannehill's way in college. Even more necessary than arm talent, a quarterback must be a game manager who makes sound decisions. I am confident this is an area in which Tannehill will develop, and he is already more adept playing under center than most draft-eligible signal callers. While some consider there to be a major drop-off after this year's top two quarterbacks, Tannehill possesses all the qualities of an early-career starter. With the Browns, Redskins, and Dolphins drafting in the top ten, I see little chance that Tannehill makes it into the double-digit picks.

I don't see him being drafted in the 1st round, but you just never know these days. If he can have a really good pro day, since I don't think he's going to be able to throw at the combine, then he could move up the boards. I'm thinking that if we can't get Flynn or RGIII then trade down some and pick him up later in the first while getting some more picks in the process.

Of course, we'll need a QB who can hold the position and play fairly well until he's ready. ;)

i do not know a lot about Tannehill however have watched some film of him recently and also read about him as of late. He seems like a QB that is smart, and has the skills to make it in the NFL. He is going to go in the first round most likely. If we trade down I do not think he will be there for us. We tried that last year and did not get a QB at all.

I do not think we are going to find a trade partner to move down and get another pick in the first round. Maybe we will and I would be ok with that. I would prefer RGIII first and Tannehill second in the draft if we do not get RGIII. I do not want a free agent QB like Flynn or Manning. I want our QB of the furture from the draft. Flynn will not be a good fit here in my opinion. Manning is not worth the price and we are not a QB away from a playoff run. Flynn wants to start and get paid starter money. I do not want the Redsins to give him that as I do not think he is a fit for our offense.

I my opinion we should show interest in the free agent QB's and if we can get one for a decent price take him. Draft RGIII if by some chance he falls to us, (that I doubt), if he does not draft Tannehill and develop him or trade up and get RGIII. If by some miracle we get RGIII we can start him immediately or let him sit for a portion of the rookie year and start him when ready. If we get Tannehill we let him develop and start him later in the year.

Flynn is dudu, why sign a guy with 2 career starts to a starting QB's contract?  I would only sign Flynn if you can sign him to a backup QB's contract.
