Apparently Dwight Howard would now like to play along side Derrick Rose and would be open to joining the Bulls

Clicky Clicky

I hope the Bulls pursue this later in the season.  The Bulls have a lot of talent and they have the Bobcats pick.  The pick is very nice because the Bobcats blow and will probably be bad for a bit.  In most situations the Magic are going to get picks that are going to get much worse as soon as Howard joins the other team.

I still think this would have to be a 3 team deal.

Howard and Rose would be ridiculous on the pick and roll; especially if the Bulls could keep Luol Deng

If you're a Bulls fan, you should actually be scared if management makes this trade.  What do you give up for him? The thing is, Chicago has a great nucleus and right now are neck and neck with the Heat.  I mentioned it eariler on this board that Rose will raise his game up in a few years where he will get past the Heat (as this has been the trend in NBA history).  With trading for Howard, you will have to take on Hedo's contract.  You will likely have to give up a combination of Noah, Boozer, Deng, or some important bench player like Taj Gibson.  Orlando is going to make the trade that best suits them (which Chicago has some good tradeable assets).  However if he hits free agency then there is no way he can make it to Chicago based on salary cap restrictions since Noah makes $60 million, Rose - $94 million, and Boozer - $80 million.  Your nucleus is stronger than anyone else's in the league.  If anything trade Boozer to get a suitable 2 guard since RIP is nearing the end of his career at 33 or 34, and depth at PG/PF and start Gibson.

I think if you are a Heat fan you should go to your own board.  This thread is for Bulls fans to discuss.

I have never even thought about going to the Heat Board.  I am not going to be held accountable for all Bulls fans actions.

I don't care what Heat fans think.  I don't seek or want their opinions.  Like I stated:

allaboutdatu doesn't seem to be a troll and actually has something relevant to say, so I couldn't careless if he post on here.

All he brings up is the "other side of the coin" that all Bulls know is true.  Who do the Bulls give up?

I believe Deng now joins Rose on the "do not touch list".  Minus Lebron, there's no other small foward in the entire NBA that plays BOTH offense and defense on on an Allstar level like Deng.

Trade any 3 way combination of any Bulls player (including draft picks) except for Rose and Deng.  And I personally would try and keep Gibson and just let him start at PF.

Rose, Hamilton/Brewer, Deng, Gibson, Howard.  Bench CJ, Hamilton/Brewer, Korver/Butler, PF-vet, C-vet

starting line up: Rose, Hamilton/Brewer, Deng, Gibson, Howard (so much defense AND offense in one line up).

Noah, Boozer, and 2 draft picks should do the deal.

Then Gibson starts at PF and they can go get Kurt Thomas back.  Then the big rotation will include Asik, Thomas, Gibson, and Howard.  There is no doubt that the Bulls need to do anything in there power to get Howard here.  If it includes Deng, then I think they need to do it.  Whatever we lose on defense with Deng, we will get back with Howard clogging up the middle.  I know it would suck to give up Deng but with the minutes and games he has logged in, he can only play up to this level for only a couple of more years when we can Howard who will play up to this level for about 8 more years.  If Deng is the only other option that makes sense, then so be it.  If Turkolug needs to be in the deal, Reinsdorf needs to sack up and amnesity his a** if need be.  That will make up for never using the luxury tax in franchise history.

If we could send Boozer and Noah's crappy deals and picks for Dwight I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I don't think Orlando would be interested in that, maybe if they include 3rd team, but I doubt Pax & Gar (i.e. two clowns) are capable of something like that, but who knows.

Considering Deng, I know many of fans have soft spot for Luol, but I think we wouldn't miss a beat with Brewer & Dwight instead of Luol & Noah, although we wouldn't get much better in that case.
Btw. Luol, Noah and picks for Dwight and Hedo's crappy contract is what Orlando would probably want.

To summarise it all, ideally we trade Boozer to 3rd team for something Orlando would want in return (something like Igoudala from Philly) and package that with Noah and couple of picks for Dwight and Hedo.

If we lose Deng. we don't get much better, but we DO get better so we should make the deal in any case, and it's up to management to struck the best possible one from Chicago side.

Btw. czman, don't worry about the Miami fan, he's just scared about this potential lineup...

Rose - Rip - Deng - Taj - Dwight

(with Watson, Korver, Brewer, White Mamba and Asik on the bench)

... going against his Moheatos from South Beach (although he does bring couple of good points about possible chemistry issues, loss of depth, etc.).

Don't worry about me Scyte, I'm hoping you make that trade for Howard.  Although I hate Noah (the Lazy transvestite Dominican), he actually plays with a soul and has a thousand times more heart and grit then Howard ever will.  This may sound ironic coming from a Heat fan, but if anything was to be taught from last year, it's that although having star power is nice, team cohesiveness is what wins the championship.  I can tell you that Dwight might actually hinder your team in certain respects that makes the Bulls what they are right now.

Also, without Deng, who covers Leron then? Last time I checked he had a field day yesterday with Deng out.  You think Dwight is going to go out in the perimeter and guard Lebron?

And let him taste his own medicine, just like he was guarding Rose in last Playoffs, haha, jk.

As I said, in ideal scenario Bulls trade away Boozer to the 3rd team and package that with Noah for Dwight, in that case they become instant favorites in the East and the whole NBA.

But if they trade Deng and Noah (plus picks) for Dwight and Hedo, then they don't gain any advantage against Miami in the short term (they would improve, but lose that chemistry X factor).

As a Heat fan, You're stupid to say you hope the Bulls somehow make the trade for Dwight.

Without Deng, Brewer covers Dwight. Yes, on the wing you take away Deng and now there is only Brewer for either Lebron/Wade. But you cant just discount the best help defender in the NBA, and the best defender period, in Dwight Howard

Yes I can.  Because everyone likes to make their little predictions on what the Magic will take for Howard and like to throw out their little scenarios.  I even saw someone who though Boozer and a 1st Round pick would be enough.  Once again, the Bulls aren't the most talented team, but are the most cohesive and are the type that buy into Thibs philosophies.  Dwight Howard is a child and you're going to have to give up quite a bit to get him.  Once that happens, you're not going to have that edge that you guys have over other teams.

First of all allaboutdatu is a true fan and I respect his opinion even if I happen to disagree with him at times.   He knows quite a bit about basketball so I respect his opinion.

Secondly, I am not getting too excited about this story because Howard is just marketing himself.  First we're not on his list, now he'd love to play here.  Last week he loved Boston.  I'll wait and see if/what the potential deal is before I get excited.

No way do I trade for Howard. The Magic would all but assuredly want the Charlotte pick. To me, it's all about that pick. In the lottery, it'd be, at worst (to date) fourth. Meaning Chicago could get a decent caliber big (Perry Jones III ahem) and groom him until he becomes a monster.

Charlotte pick is lottery protected for next 4 years so what you wrote makes no sense at all.

allaboutdatU, you offer some really good points, but if Howard wants to come to Chicago, don't you think it'd be crazy for the Bulls organization NOT to try and trade for him?   He's the best #5 in the game.  Yes he acts like a child sometimes, yes he needs attention, but everything is curable when you win.  A championship is the ultimate cure.  DRose needs help.   Appreciate your objective comments though allaboutdatU.

Which is why it would be sooooooo very nice if he would saunter back over to the Heat board and forget he ever found this one.

The Bobcats pick is:

2013 top 12 protected
2014 top 10 protected
2015 top 8 protected
2016 unprotected

It is not lottery protected at all.  It is top 8 protected at the very least for 3 more season.  The Bobcats do stink.  It is all but certain the pick will be protected this season.

If the Bulls are going to make a deal for Dwight Howard I think it has to be a 3 team deal.

Just to kind of mock up a two deal though:

Magic get:
Joakim Noah
Carlos Boozer
C.J. Watson
Ronnie Brewer or Kyle Korver
Bobcats pick
Bulls 2 round pick in 2013 and 1015

Bulls get
Dwight Howard
Chris Duhon
Jason Richardson

I honestly think the Magic are better off keeping Turks contract.  It has only two years left so after next year it is a large expiring contract.  A large expiring contract has value and it is coming up pretty soon.  Duhon has 2 years after this one while Watson has a team option.  Richardson has 3 years left while Brewer/Korver only 1 year left after this one.

The Magic could also try and move Carlos Boozer to the Nets.  the Nets need something to keep Williams there.
