Well its been a while but we are almost back, Daytona is less than a month away and I am ready to see what the 2012 season will bring for Dale Jr and the rest of the nascar field. I havent posted a lot lately but I hope everyone is doing well and having a great start to this new year.
I noticed their was a thread out there about optimism vs pessemism for Juniors season, I didnt really read through it but just as a conversation started for this thread, how do you think Junior will fair at Daytona will all of the rule changes and do you think we will see pack racing this year or not?
I'm a fan of Trevor Bayne myself, but since he has only a part-time schedule, when he isn't running I tend to follow Jr. I think we'll see the typical Jr. of old at restrictor plate tracks, because I think the last race at Daytona where he and JJ waited to long kinda pissed him off a little bit. We might see he and kasey paired up together instead of JJ this year. As far as the pack racing, I sure hope so, but I'm not holding my breath. Seems like they tried a lot of things last year and it didn't seem to help. Hopefully these changes will at least limit the 2 car draft. Good luck to all in Jr. Nation this year.
The did a lot of different things at Daytona testing earlier in January to encourage pack racing. The consensus is that the two car tandem will not go away totally but how long the cars are able to stay hooked together will be a big factor. I dont think nascar minds if they stay hooked up for a lap or 2 but when they can stayed hooked up for hundreds of miles it becomes a concern.
I just read a greta article on nascar.com about Junior and Letarte and their relationship. I really expect better things this season with a full season under their belt and another off season of work together.
1. Expect the Jaguars to win the Superbowl this year 2. Kirstie Alley to get naked with me this year 3. Richard Petty Motorsports to win the chase this year 4. I'll hit the lottery for 28 million
All fans of racing like this thread Dan, thx for your efforts. JJ and JG do not get along; JR and JJ are in same garage at RH. Will never happen ,JJ pushing JG, nor JG pushing the great 5 X s.
Top 10 again, and they will take a few more chances this year to win. An amazing feat to finish 7th last year; though JR and JJ are my favs, IMO, Kasey will be the star of the team this year. One of the best qualifiers and top road racer, he will easily make the chase.
USC it will be interesting to see if Hendrick can get all 4 cars in the chase. In the past one at least one of the cars has seemed to get the short end of the stick at HMS. For years it was the 25 car, Junior had some rough years in 2009-2010. The 5 was way off last year. So it will be interesting to follow. Kasey would have made the chase for Red Bull last season if it wasnt for a load of rotten luck. Anyways I believe they all can make it but we will see.
I am reading your concerns here Junior Fans and I think they are warranted, Dale is back under a long contract, Hendrick supplied SHR is coming off a title, SHR is only giving Ryan another year and he better deliver, Danica is in the fold along with the #10 car running a complete Cup schedule, Jeff Gordon seems motivated and Jimmie says hes all in and Kasey maybe the best driver in the Hendrick mix.
Your concerns have teeth, you are thinking the #88 will be this years #5 Mark Martin, and I think you could be right.
SHR along with HMS have to keep the #10 car in the top 35 so when Danica races she is guaranteed a starting spot, but I do think Dale will be a factor at Daytona with the new rules and if Dale wins the 500 the burden will be lifted and then the rest of the plan can go into action, If Dale doesnt win the 500 I think the 3 year drought will continue because he is signed, t-shirts and jacket sales will sky rocket with Amp gone and Diet MT.Dew clothes hitting the market and Hendrick and Dale's bank accounts will once again top out.
HMS plan off getting all 4 cars in the chase along with Stewart and Newman and keeping Danicas ride in the top 35 is a big order..... But just where does the cash cow #88 fall in that order, time will tell, But I see why all the concern here and its justified. Spikes.
Look Ducky, when you have nothing left but to attack a coach at our school, you have classified yourself as an idiot. Kiff called and won 35 and lost3 during his OC with PC. He was hired at 32 by another idiot(AD) who finally has died, thankfully. He did not want that dumb LSU QB, but was forced on him by Davis. Just how many coaches has Al had in the past 10 years? or even after Lane? At Tenn he wa s given carte blanche to put a team on the field who could compete vs Al, LSU and that he did. he was 7-6, 2nd in his div. The previou year the Vols were blown out by 30 and 40 by those two teams; Kiff lost by less than 7 and one in OT as i recall. Now , he is 18-7 at USC, 75Pct fool. He is paid 4.4 mil a year, top 10 in nation. Not one of us has said a bad word at your fat coach. If any of your so-called USC chums cant answer your stupid question about why we hired Kiff, then either you are bsing(bingo), or you need to find a lil smarter pals to hang with in your communes.
When you come here with stupid comments you have downgraded your school even more than their history pkays out. When your lib school wins maybe 5 RB s, currently 1-6,lol then come here and maybe we can give you some type of a foolish pat on the back. ole Chipper will lok more and more like fatso Weiss in a few years. "Chip", now that s a real coaching name id say. FYI, Lane is 1-1 at age 35 vs your 48 fathead in 2 meetings. Without your hoodlum players, ie Mazolli, you are done. You have no chance this year or the next 4 to be within 14 of our Trojans. With 11 titles, 26 P10 titles, we dont need to even defend our great schools history to so-called Duck grrens like your types. Now, til you learn some respect, you need to run along back to your greenieworld and wallow in the "duck-crap" you brought here.
dam, thought i saved Spike reply and gave my last Duck thrashing, lol sorry disregard
lets try again--- well stated Spikes. i believe David will make the top 35 easily, maybe 32. RG was 34th and he ran only 25 and an under-financed Toy. Like Ryan, Koey , my sources have told me, must make the chase or he will be sponsor-dumped. That is a lkot of pressure for the kid, he drove poorly las\t with like pressure.
How are those eng probs working out at JG? anyways, see you at the Beach! im from Redondo Beach, and your from the "mussel shoals'? we dont need ole Neil around, anyhow. That is forsure, lol
Here is the question Junior Nation needs to answer and understand. The pecking order at HMS.
We know
1 is JJ
2 is Jeff
But is 3 Kasey Kahne or Dale Junior?
Rick did a lot to get Kasey Kahne in the fold and Kasey is younger than Junior, but time will tell. Also, there is speculation and descent going in the garage that Finch's deal with Kurt Bush is really a 5th HMS car. If that is the Case who is the number 5 teams at HMS Kasey, Junior or Busch?
I ask because Finch has spent a lot of money with Rick over the years, just like Haas did and we saw who Rick concentrated on last year in the chase.
I am not a huge Jr. fan but it would be nice to finally see him win a race again... He is a very down to earth and likable guy
I think he puts to much pressure on himself to live up to the lofty expectations of his HUGE fan base that he inherited... I will predict that he wins 2 races this year... Last year he was very close a few times but could never get the job done.
