New Penn State coach and current Patriots OC Bi...

February 8, 2012 6:50 pm

Someone already pointed this out, but I found it funny enough to dog pile:

LMAO....Tradition?  How many PSU national championships have u witnessed live? Im not talking about tapes, but live television.

I watched the game against Georgia and went to the game against Miami.  That makes two.  I watched the Ohio State championship against Miami in the early 00's, but would have to get out the reel to reel to see the one in '68.  Give me a second to do the math...

one more second....

Ok, my calculations come out to 2 for Penn State and 1 for Ohio State that I have witnessed as they happened.  Check my figures and let me know if you come up with something different.

Luke at least was from Ohio and was in the program already, learned from Tressel.
...But had 0 HC experience, so if you believe as you say, why did you start multiple threads last August about why Fick would be much more successful than Brady Hoke, who just happened to have prior HC experience?

Bellicheck descipals all have failed
...except for the ones that didn't.  (But we won't talk about them, will we?)  And by the way, if you're going to use a word repeatedly, try to find the correct spelling, not the hooked-on-phonics version.  It's disciple.

Obrien is from any kid in the midwest's arch enemy (well for 2 yrs, not even long time).....the Patriots
Care to explain to this midwestern "kid" why the Patriots would be my arch-enemy?  'Cause I have kinda liked them for a while, mostly since a guy from my favorite college team is the only player in NFL history to have a sack and a TD catch in the same SuperBowl with them...

The only way to justify the Obrien hire is he was the only one willing to be a puppet for PSU. There are a million more uniquely qualified Individuals whose hiring at PSU would have made more sense.

If I was an OSU fan I'd be much more worried about Urban Meyer than O'Brien.  Meyer wins when he has an elite QB, but if he doesn't his teams typically do not do well.  He had great success in Utah, but that was mainly because he played in the MWC, had the #1 overall draft pick in Alex Smith as his QB(who he didn't even recruit), and got to play a Big East team in his bowl game.  Then to Florida where Tebow won him a couple NC's.  But after Tebow left?  7-5.  And when the stress got too much and Urban knew he couldn't win without an elite QB he just quit.

The expectations on Urban at OSU are rediculous, he walks away from the stress within 5 years and 0 National Championships.

I think the expectations on Meyer are too much, but I think he will do fine and continue to dominate the Big10.  The recruiting fiasco will calm down and Michigan St, Wisky, and Penn State will get their guys in the future.  B. Miller can be a great QB as he showed flashes of his skills towards the end of last season.

Meyer won his first NC without Tebow really.  Tebow's stats against Ohio State in the big game: 1-1 (for 1 yard) passing with a TD, 10-39 rushing with a TD.  The TDs he scored were the last two scores of the game and were a non-factor as Florida had the game in hand by then.  Chris Leak was far from elite, but he was the starting QB for the National Championship Gator team.  Meyer will see plenty of success at Ohio State, but will the fan base be happy with anything less than 2-3 NCs in the next 5 years?  Because that is the expectation.

LMAO....ok, so u wanna knock a two time NC winning coach from the SEC? (yeah, thats an easy conference to win in).  OK, forget Florida, go look up what Meyer did at BG and Utah.

Why again do you guys like Obrien again?   ESPN only ranked Obrien the 24th worst hire out of the 26th this past season.

O'Brien  may or may not be a great coach, but as of right now he has the interest of many top rated QB's that PSU in the past either didn't go after or didn't have any interest in PSU.

Give me a break.  Dont believe that nonspense spin outa State College.  Hoke and Urban will cherry pick whoever they want.  Obrien is insignificant, he couldnt keep Cam Williams and Armani Reeves from MASS or Sky Morniingwig (dad OC w Eagles) there.  Obrien is a horrible choice for HC at PSU or any other program or NFL team.  Oh, I forgot, Obrien never had any other HC offers ever until PSU begged and pleaded him to be puppet because anyone w PSU ties publically said they are not interested in the job.
