MAJOYENRAC'S ALL STAR PICKS

February 6, 2012 4:41 pm

Theycallmepro,

I hear ya on the ESPN thing.

Back in maybe early January, Derrick Rose and the Bulls played Chris Paul and Blake Griffin and the Clipps, and Rose absolutely owned CP3 all night, I mean it wasn't even close, Derrick took the challenge and just destroyed him on the matchup, and it wasn't until Rose sat that CP3 got some easy scores and assists to make the stats look somewhat close (though clearly in Rose's favor).

Yet because it was like the first week of the season and Lob City was all the rage in ESPN, the highlights on ESPN basically focused on the few nice CP3 plays and didn't even show the freak of nature reigning MVP who's 3-4 yrs younger and is a legit superstar for the game he had.....

It was crazy.

That said, yes you have beef, especially after TP's 42 pt explosion (which happened after my post), I think the Spurs are and have been long deserving all stars.  If Duncan played more minutes he too would be close to being an all star yet again....

I wouldn't see much fault in Parker making it, but he didn't as Westbrook is the future of the West PG's (he's the almost Derrick Rose).

It's tough out West at the PG spot, as any of the Paul, Westbrook, Nash, Parker, (really Monta Ellis), Ricky Rubio guys can make it, they're all in that same league....

MAJOYENRAC'S ALL STAR PICKS

I think it's funny all these people on here feel Monta is just some run n gun, shoot first Guard... And thats why you are writing on a CBS message board. To the people that actually see Monta's game, you would know e is much more than just a scorer. And nice to see a couple people on here can recognize that as well.

MAJOYENRAC'S ALL STAR PICKS

February 13, 2012 2:58 pm

Props to MAJOYENRAC for knowing about the Warriors and Monta Ellis. I wouldn’t compare him to Gordon. If you want to compare him with anybody compare him to D.Rose. I don’t want to go over that comparison again but Rose and Ellis games are almost identical players. Rose is a much better ball handler and Monta is a slightly better finisher around the rim.

At this point you really have to ask..What does Monta have to do to make the all-star game? Can’t be that the Warriors have a losing record because Nash made it this season and Love and Griffin made it last season. I don’t even think the T-Wolves had double digit wins last season and Love made the All-star game. I don’t get how everyone enjoys dismissing Monta’s numbers by saying good numbers/Bad team but guys like Love get a total free pass. It’s like people look for a reason why not to believe his numbers.  It has to be the system. Or it has to be because he’s a chucker. Then you actually look at the numbers and he doing pretty much the same thing all the other top SG are doing minus the free throw attempts.

I heard the other day that he’s the only player in history of the NBA to score 40pts 9 or more times (Career)and not be selected to an all-star game (vs.OKC 48-2-7, @BOS 41-4-6, vs.HOU 44-7-3, vs.NYK 40-4-5, vs.HOU 46-3-2,@DAL 46-7-2, vs.IND 45-1-5,@SAS 42-4-4,vs.SAC 42-9-9). He’s the only player in the top 10 in scoring not in the All-Star game this season.  The only player in the top 8 in scoring last season that didn’t make the all-star game.  The only playing in the top 5 in scoring the year before last not to make the ASG.

Let me just list the only guys currently averaging over 20ppg and more than 5apg

Kobe: 29-5
LBJ: 28-7
Westbrook: 23-6
Ellis: 23-6
Wade: 22-5
Rose: 22-8
D.Williams: 21-8

* and no I’m not saying he’s better tha Kobe, D-Wade or Lebron, But he can definitely hang with the rest of those guys on that list. And is deserving of some type of recognition base on his performance the past 2 and half seasons.

He the only player in the league that avg. 20 plus points and 5 plus rebounds not to make the ASG, This is the 3rd season this has happened. He’s finished the each of the last 2 season in the top 10 in scoring (8th in 10-11 and 6th 09-10) And it’s not like he shooting 40%. He’s a career 46.7% shooter which is pretty good considering; he takes a lot of shots and defenses are focused on stopping him.
