All this Peyton Manning talk is starting to annoy me, Manning in DC would be a disaster.

Well, can't agree that it would be a disaster to have Peyton.  I definitely want to draft a QB, but the fact is that Manning could help any team immediately.  I just wonder if he could coexist with Shanahan's system.  Him under center could make the running game much more dangerous, especially with a 2-back system and we have good backs in Hightower and Helu.  That would help take some pressure off the passing game and Manning.

We just don't have the receivers and the o-line to maximize having Peyton for 3 years or so.  Can we fix that with free agency and the draft, without mortgaging the future?  I think if anyone can, Allen and Shanahan can do it.

We would have to change our offense to fit Manning's style, and he isn't even healthy and behind our oline he would get destroyed.

The only team Manning should be playing for next season is the Colts, I'm telling you signing him would be a mistake and just prolonging the inevitable.

I see no chance that Griffin flops, at the very least he will be a poor man's Michael Vick which would at least make us competitive.  And I feel like with Griffin's mobility we wouldn't have to invest as much into the oline since he can keep plays alive with his feet.

Why do people continuously try to do something to not invest in the O-line? If you just fix the o-line instead it makes the rest of the team better and you don't have ot game plan around it. you can do whatever you want at that point. Instead we try to use a rolling poclet or a stretch running game, or now you are willing to mortgage the rest of the drafft to take a chance on a QB that has never played against enough competition to judge if he is good or not, just because he can run so you don't have ot invest in the anchor of you team. I always think Redskins fans are smart until I read another thread like this.

Next Peyton Mannng does not havea style. Again you don't get a QB with a style. you get a guy that can play the position and do all the tings, make all the throws, and make all the reads leading to those throws, and that is Peyton Manning in any system. His arm strength is the only question. By every report he is no more likely to reinjure his neck than any other player. His neck is healed and many other players that take hits for a living at LB and RB, have fully recovered and played again at a high level after this injury. As I say his arm strength is a concern, but if he can just make the proper read and 15 yd pass it would be an immense improvement. If we picked up Manning there is every reason to believe we also give hi the protection and weapons to succeed. We already have two RB that are as god as any he has ever had at Indy, and if Cooley returns we have twice as many pass catching TE as he ever had at Indy. We need 1 WR to be the #1. Everyone else is more than capable of moving down to the next spot and being very good.

Ibelieve Mannign is playing for the Colts next year, but if he isn't then I would love to have him. Then draft Ossweiller in the 3rd or 4th. With your top two picks you could fill one or both of the need positions on offense with a WR and a C or OG. I wil lsay thin though. If I had to choose between Manning OR gettign a #1 WR, and 3 OL in FA, I take the 4 other players for probablyu less money combined than dropping 25 MIL of the cap on one guy.

For one our oline isn't that bad, and secondly just about every successful team has proven that an oline of 1st and 2nd rounders does not take you to the playoffs.  With a good QB you can get by with just an okay oline.  The Giants, Packers, Patriots, Saints all have lineman that are late round draft picks or undrafted and simply because they have an elite QB their oline looks much better than it really is.  Look at the Rams, Browns and us, we have drafted 1st and 2nd round lineman quite a bit in the last decade and we have all gotten no where.  Good QB play will make any line look great, put Rex Grossman behind any of those teams lines and the offense would suck.  With a good QB like Griffin behind our line I think he could excel.  Oh and the rolling pocket and stretch running game is part of our offense, we dont just run those plays because Grossman is immobile, we run those plays because that is our offense, regardless of the QB we will run those plays and I believe Griffin could be deadly running them.

Peyton Manning has a style, the coach calls the play in and he changes the play at the line depending on the defense.  Mike and Kyle would not be cool with that, the plays they call they expect to be run so if we signed Manning there would have to be some change to the way our coaches coach and call plays.  I just don't think signing Manning would be the smart thing to do, we would get 1-3 years out of him and then be back in the same position we are in now just with older players.

I really believe our coaches are smart enough to realize that we need a young QB to come in and grow with the young talent we already have, drafting Griffin would allow Fred Davis, Hankerson, Roy Helu and Even Royster a chance to grow and become the next generation of great Redskins players.  Pairing Peyton with those guys would be good for those 1-3 years but they would have to start all over with another QB when Manning is gone, draft Griffin and there is no problem.

Since this has morphed into another posting about QB's, lol, this was posted on Rotoworld this morning:

Peyton Manning - QB - Colts

Appearing on Bill Simmons' BS Report, NFL Network's Mike Lombardi said people who are catching Peyton Manning's (neck surgeries) passes as he rehabs say Manning not only lacks velocity, but can't throw to his left.

"He can't throw the ball," said Lombardi. "I've talked to people who've caught the ball for him. He can't throw the ball to his left. He can't throw the ball across his body, because he doesn't feel it. People that catch the ball for him say he doesn't really have velocity on the ball yet." Lombardi is skeptical of any franchise hinging its hopes on Manning. The hope, of course, is that Manning will regain feeling in his arm as the nerve regenerates.

********

So once again, I must state that I DO NOT WANT MANNING on our team. I just can't help believing that he's not going to be the same QB he was for the past 10+ years. He wasn't the most mobile QB to begin with. If he is having trouble throwing the ball and turning to the left, than we don't need him. Why waste money on another aging QB?

Yes, if he is 100% healthy and can make all of the throws, than you can give him an incentive laden contract. But NOT until he proves that he is 100%.

Unfortunately, he probably won't be able to do that until sometime this summer, if ever. So we need to just forget about him and either trade up with the Rams now and take RGIII or sign someone else in FA and still trade up for RGIII.

I know you all have your favorites from among the rookie QB's, but we need a franchise QB. And I highly doubt any of those other rookie QB's is going to be that guy. Maybe in 2-3 years they can be decent NFL QB's, but we need a top quality QB now.

Couldn't agree more, now we got people saying that Griffin may go first and Luck could be there for us at #2.

LOL Stupid peple say that just want to see who will repeat it, Griffins agent, and the Rams or Minnesota's GM to try to get someone to give them more for the pick ahead of Cleveland. I actually think he will be there for us at 6th. I think Cleveland needs more than a QB and Griffin is at least as much of a risl as Colt McCoy who is not terrible. If nobody trades up, I think he gets to us. That said i think someone does trade up into Minnesota's spot to take him. Most likely whoever loses out on the Flynn/Manning sweepstakes. I think it will be expensive. Too expensive for us to do, at least if I am running the show. At this point it is anyones guess though. it would be out of character for Allen to do, but not so much Shanahan, and we all know that the Danny is all for moving up and making the headline with the shiney new penny.
