Nice gut check game for the kids. It was sickening hearing Len Elmore bash the Heels all game and the officiating was by far the worst I've seen all year. (both ways) Kendall was horrifying in the first half, but steadied himself in the second. Zeller once again was great. His 4th foul was absolutely ridiculus. Maryland has a good young team and hats off to them for playing hard all game. I like the Len kid. With a little bulk and experience he's going to be good. He's aggressive as evident by his 4 fouls. Watching the game again on replay it's kind of funny. His 4th foul was a terrible call, but throughout the game he had least 9 other fouls that were not called and blatant fouls none the less. Stoglin in great off the dribble, but he probably shoots a bit too much. Anyways, great win in a hostile environment for the kids.
awesome game maryland had the momentum but we took the game over when it mattered. barnes was huge with massive shots down the stretch. great win and nice momentum for the puke game. i think we win that game by 10+
Len Elmore is ALWAYS brutal, but then factor in he is a Maryland guy, and you get a tremendously biased analysis. Mike Patrick is so over the top, too. He was ready to put Len in the Hall of Fame duirng the game. My guess is we're stuck with Patrick again for Duke, but most likely with Dickie V, which isn't much of an improvement over Elmore.
Anyway, like it has been mentioned, good gut check win on the road. I do think the Heels made it a little harder on themselves than they should have. I thought this would be the game whee free throws came back to haunt them. They were only 17-26 for 65%, but did make them when it counted. Henson is such a liability on the line, he has to be on the bench in close games. If I were an opposing coach, in a close game, I'd start going to the Hack-Henson strategy with 3 or 4 minutes to go.
The first half Marshall had me concerned. He does not play well when the Heels are down. He was pressing and being too aggressive on offense, like the FSU game. Luckily, he settled back into his game in the 2nd half.
Zeller has quietly become a force. Right now, he's my MVP for the Heels. He has been the most consistent and dominant player for the Heels in conference play. He will need another big game Wednesday against Plumlee, who has improved his game tremendously in the last 5 or 6. Foul trouble will be key in that matchup.
We needed this... A good ole back alley fist fight. One concern I have is Marshall plays different when we're down or in a dog fight. I understand he want to put the team on his back sometimes but he made some foolish turnovers. All n all it was good gut check game UNC needed. The acc is fighting back more than I suspected but I'm glad we're taking the punch and delivering them back.zeller was awesome henson made a some clutch plays HB40 went to honey badger mode players step up. I like our depth it was the key as the terps being gassed in the last part of the game. Big game coming up lets hope every body get rest Barnes ankle gets better. This terp game was good warm up game for Wednesday puke will be ready we gotta make sure they know whose daddy.
