LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -

This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.

THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!

PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, NBA, Soccer, MLB, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.

RULES FOR POSTING -

We take it upon ourselves to donate our time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. We will not track your LOCKs if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, we won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.

- Post only 1 LOCK per day.  You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week.  A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday.  Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL.  You do not have to stay in one sport.  Spread them around if you like.

- No "buying" points for LOCKS.

- We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit . If the LOCK is not posted within 30 minutes of the scheduled CBS start time the LOCK will not count.

- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc

- First half or mini lines are OK.  No second half or quarter lines. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.   

- No parlays. Period.

- Props are OK as long as you give a site where we can check the line.

- Hockey, baseball, and soccer plays need to be -129 or better.  No HUGE favorites for LOCKS.  Anything -130 and over, take the -1.5 goals or runs if you feel like it is still a LOCK.

- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.

- LOCKs MUST be posted 30 minutes before the time CBS says the game is set to go off, anything less than 30 minutes the LOCK will not count.

And, THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!

You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on the said team.

Well the record is now 12-4 on Locks and Saturday afternoon I have found a line that is offering tremendous line value.  I am going to LOCK Marquette -1 over Notre Dame.  Since commiting full time to the slow burn offense ND has won 3 straight in the Big East to put themself right smack in the middle of NCAA picture.  During this streak ND has bored the opposition into playing an ugly slow style of ball that puts them outside their comfort zone. A closer look at ND's recent wins points out a serious flaw in the opponents. Syracuse was without their big man Melo and Seton Hall and Uconn are both in the midst of a serious tailspin.  Marquette on the other hand is riding their own 7 game hot streak and come into this game with a boatload of confidence and game to back it up.  Marq has improved their shooting % from both sides of the 3pt line as well as the FT line during the streak.  Defensively they are causing alot of turnovers and improving on the boards despite their smallish lineup.  Marq has already played an away game at Wisconsin who also plays a similar ball control offense and the Golden Eagles won that game by 7pts or so.  Johnson-Odom and Crowder are two highly skilled studs that will present serious matchup problems for the Irish.  Johnson Odom will also be the man guarding ND's most athletic player Grant, and that will limit Grants effectiveness.  This game will hinge on the fact that Marq has too much offensive fire power for ND to overcome. The slow burn only works for ND when they can play with the lead or trail by a max of a couple possesions.  Once Marq builds a decent lead ND will have no way to fight back as they are an anemic offensive team that shot in the low 40's% even during their lastest wins. Marq also travels very well to this game historically as this game has been a sellout for months even when ND was in the dumps and losing frequently. Look for up to 1500-2000 Marquette fans in attendance.  I will take the generous line and look for Marquette to control this game throughout and leave South Bend with a 7-10 pt road victory. I see a final score of Marquette 66 ND 57.

First off, thanks to SW and Appleton for a great call on the Laker game last night. Right on the money...Speaking of which, where the heck is $$$, haven't seen him in a few days.  Hoping he comes back with a a HUGE lock on the Giants TT for tomorrow. :-)

I just don't see how Kansas State can be favored by 11 against any conference foe at this point.  Texas A and M will slow the game down on the road and try to get the outright win, but I think we see enough points to get over 123.5.  I look for a 65-60 type game here.  In last 5 games KSU is averaging 69.8 will opponents are scoring 64.0.  5.8 difference.

found a game that i believe  have has good value qualifying as a lock . been going to the well with virginia at home and now will drink again as they  travel to florida state.  virgina has had to make adjustments as they have lost their  7 ft. center, sene. their high powered forward mike scott has stepped up.  fsu has had and up down year,but their signature 35 point  win  against tarheels high lights their season. this game should be a slug fest between to top 25 teams. see this game easliy going past 120 and a final score between 125 and 130 is not out of the question.  hoping to rebound from last night 2 posted plays losses  which brought  me down fro 75% to 66%.  AM LOCKING VIRGINIA OVER 117 V. FLORIDA STATE.

Good morning degens. Been a week since I last posted, work always getting in the way. Few early thoughts: Baylor blows out a very bad Okla.St. team by 41 in their first meeting, easily covering 14 point spread at home. Today on the road it's only 6???? Seems too easy. Seton Hall has lost 5-straight, and are kind fre-falling after the great start. Today they play U.Conn. for the second time, they beat them in the first game, 75-63. I think U.Conn. is in complete disarray, Calhoun stepping down again, for medical reasons, ( yeah right). Have you watched this team play? They have no clue on the offensive side of the ball. I'm taking the 7.5. GL. Thoughts?
