This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.

THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!

PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, NBA, Soccer, MLB, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.

RULES FOR POSTING -

We take it upon ourselves to donate our time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. We will not track your LOCKs if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, we won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.

- Post only 1 LOCK per day.  You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week.  A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday.  Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL.  You do not have to stay in one sport.  Spread them around if you like.

- No "buying" points for LOCKS.

- We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit . If the LOCK is not posted within 30 minutes of the scheduled CBS start time the LOCK will not count.

- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc

- First half or mini lines are OK.  No second half or quarter lines. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.   

- No parlays. Period.

- Props are OK as long as you give a site where we can check the line.

- Hockey, baseball, and soccer plays need to be -129 or better.  No HUGE favorites for LOCKS.  Anything -130 and over, take the -1.5 goals or runs if you feel like it is still a LOCK.

- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.

- LOCKs MUST be posted 30 minutes before the time CBS says the game is set to go off, anything less than 30 minutes the LOCK will not count.

And, THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!

You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on the said team.

The Giants have the ingredients to follow the Steelers game plan that beat the Pats:  a good quarterback to attack the Pats' secondary and the ability to pressure Brady.  I look for the Giants to press the Pats wideouts at the line while the defensive front does their thing.

work has been kicking my *** the last few weeks, but i have a lock for the super bowl if i am allowed to post it today.

lock is ny giants team total over 26.5 (-120)

i got this one in now because i have to think it is going to go up and 26.5 is a much nicer number than 27 or 27.5.  of all the variables in this game, i think that the "safest" option is the giants offense vs. the patriots defense.  i am just not sure what to expect with the giants pass rush and their ability to put pressure on brady and with gronkowski dinged and maybe not able to cut, i don't like the over as much as i like the odds that the giants can get to 27 at least.  i think the giants will be able to do pretty much whatever they want and should be able to score 4 td's at least.  edelman is going to have to cover someone, and now that the giants know where to expect him, they can work matchups against him and i don't like his chances against cruz, nicks, or manningham.  i see the giants being able to move the ball on the ground also.  i really don't see them losing this one unless brady just does something incredible.  i think i will put a little on the giants moneyline too, but the only lockable thing from my perspective is the giants tt.

I played and posted this earlier in the week at 26 but I know the line is 26.5 and I'm not worried. I'd take it up to 29.5

Pretty simple...MATCHUPS MATCHUPS MATCHUPS. No way Edelman is covering Cruz and when they try to help, Nicks and Manningham will cause havoc over on on the outsides.  I've said all along, it makes me very nervous that everyone and their mother is on the Giants and yet the line has not budged. Heavy heart invested in the GMEN so I'm staying off the side, but they get at least 30 tomorrow.

I like the Giants to win, and the game to be UNDER 55.5. 

I don't have any fancy stats or interesting matchups to throw at you.  But, I just watched football for the past 20 weeks, and think they are the better team.  The last time they played, it was a toss up.  Giants were missing a few key players, that are back this time around.  I still think Gronk will be limited AT BEST, and that hurts their offense.  Giants D is playing great right now. 

Nothing even close to "lockworthy" on this game, and it very well could be a great game that comes down to the wire.  But, my gut says Gmen pull it off in a pretty low-scoring game with both teams in the mid-to-low 20's. 


Also, if I hear one more thing about "revenge factor" I'm gonna f)ucking puke.  IT'S THE G****D D*****MN SUPER BOWL!!!!!  You think New England is MORE fired up to win just because the Giants beat them 4 years ago??  So you are telling me that if Tyree doesn't make that catch, that the Pats would ho-hum about the game tomorrow, and the Giants might actually have an advantage??  RIDONKULOUS TRAIN OF THOUGHT!

Lock of the day Giants team tot over 26 (Believe it or not it has gone down on my book)
I love the Giants to reach this number. We are playing indoors here and the Pats secondary is horrible, they may be used to playing in a Super Bowl ,but most of their defensive secondary has not. We also have a team that is playing it's best defense of the season against a team that may have lost their most powerful weapon on O. I really don't see Gronk at full speed with a high ankle sprain even if he does play he will not be at 80%. But lets look at what the Pats secondary has faced : at home Romo 317 with a td ,Rivers 378 2 td other than Manning who beat them,but didn't have a great game. On the road they went up against BUF where they lost, DEN, MIA(Henne with 400+, NYJ, OAK (with Jason Campbell), PHI (with Vince Young who threw for 400+), WAS and PIT with Big Ben throwing for 365 yards and two scores. add to that KC who didn't do much and the Colts with Orlovski throwing for 350+ against them. What I see here is a bunch of mediocre O's that lit these guys up and the Giants will do just that.

Manchester United could  visit to Stamford Bridge in this Fox televised game to play Chelsea with the possibility of fielding Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney and Nani. Any side would like to include players of that caliber and they will be able to give the Chelsea defence a tough time. Chelsea will be without Ashley Cole and John Terry (I guess we won't see if he shakes Ferdinand's hand). Gary Cahill could start for Chelsea but has been shell-shocked all season in a battered Bolton Wanderers defence. United will be looking to keep pace with local rivals Manchester City as the two sides go for the title. Man U also without Vidic. Of course Toure and Drogba still in Africa so maybe Torres can step things up a bit.

I am vested in the Giants +3.  Thought about going with Pats ML and hoping for a NE close win.  But, just can't do it.  I think Pats ML will come down ever more, maybe even to -125.  The "sharps" or whatever are "supposed" to hammer the Pats ML.  I don't give a sheet about sharps, squares, public, or otherwise.  I watch football, every week.  I think the Giants will win.  Will I be right??  Who knows!!!!

Sorry I disappeared before halftime of the Mizzou game. I didn't bail.....my router crashed. Did get the MIZZOU-1 1/2 first half winner so 37-23 on CBB posted. Also a little wierd that my guess on the final score was Mizzou 74-70. Missed it by a point! Frustrated with the computer so went out to celebrate and wound up at the casino. Won $300 on a SLOT MACHINE of all things. I rarely play them but my wife loves them so I join in once in a while. Thanks for the props everyone last night. I'm a little slow but when I got home I figured out that I could eliminate the router and use my son's desktop. So thought I would say thanks before I hit the sack. I am going to post a Superbowl Prop LOCK.  I may not be able to LOCK technically because it is -200 but I think it is the best bet of the superbowl.  I will preface that I am from Boston but that has nothing to do with my rationale and if you are a giants fan and get angry with my pick you shouldn't be wagering on the superbowl anyways because you are wagering with feelings. 

There is great value in Eli Manning -200 throwing at least 1 interception. I will post again on game day.
- in the last superbowl his o/under was 1.5 and he threw one in the first half and samuel should have had another
- He has only thrown 1 int in his playoff career.....great works in my favor reversion to the means. Two passes against SF should have been picked and weren't because players ran into each other.

- 1 interception is random versus a bad day, it could be a pats defensive scheme that catches eli off, a tipped pass, a bad route, end of half hail mary, a fallen receiver, end of game drive stopper

Why eli versus brady on the INT because brady had his bad game against Baltimore and will be sharper. B) giants offense is geared to go down field while the pats is called a dink offense. Easier for something to go wrong downfield versus the dink. 

Eli can have an MVP game and still throw an INT. I think this is a great wager.
