Clemson a pivotal game....

February 8, 2012 12:49 am

Nick Faust didn't show up for me tonight,

At least he had that great dunk!  His athleticism is very impressive.  If he can improve his outside shooting and overall decision making, he will be a stud in the next few years in my opinion.  Right now, though, I get scared every time he shoots or drives to the basket even though sometimes he comes up with a gem.

Somebody commented on Len not really showing up after his great outing last game.  He was in foul trouble early and did have a few important plays down the stretch.  A key block on Booker I think and then the nice layup inside toward the end.  Unfortunately he missed the FT.  He's another player than should improve a lot over time.  Hopefully he bulks up some this offseason.

The one thing I was confused about was the spread for the game, something like Clemson -7 or -8.  I realize it was at the their place but that seemd to disrespect Maryland to me.  I mean Maryland RPI was 99 before the game, which is by no means good, but Clemson's was 168.  Terps SOS 53 and Clemson 136.  I just wasn't getting the spread at all.

Clemson a pivotal game....

To yall that saw the game...how did Turg handle the inevitable run by clemson in the 2nd half? I mean did he finally call a "timely" timeout? The consistancy of the 2nd half collapse is both amazing and disturbing. We know it's a player thing to a certain extent due to youth and lack of bench depth, but I'm really starting to wonder what part coaching is to blame. There's probably little way we as fans can tell, but man it's like fuggin clock work isn't it?

I got the 62 points right on Clemson but came up will short on the Terps score. I was well on my way to that until Clemson threw out the 1-3-1 zone. Maryland looked like they have never even seen that zone before! And it doesn't help to try to milk the clock with ten min left in the game either. A road win is a road win in the ACC and I will take that all day!

Go Terps!

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I'm pretty sure Turgeon waited until the lead had been cut to 4 before he called a TO.  Correct me if I'm wrong, guys.  Given the Terps' obvious and immediate struggle with the 1-3-1 zone, he waited entirely too long, IMO.

Obviously, Turgeon has produced results far beyond most expectations this season, but sometimes his comments irk me, particularly when he compares this program to what he had at Texas A&M.  You made the decision to accept the position, Coach, and this is the hand you've been dealt.  Stop reminiscing about the past and start focusing on the present/future...Terps fans don't want to hear about it.  I'm sure it just stems out of frustration, but he comes off as a bit of a "spoiled sport" and the comments hint at a lack of interest/patience in putting forth the effort that's necessary to rebuild our program.

Step forward last night.  BC should be conference win #5 next week.

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, MARYLAND!!!
