New World Order: New No. 10 in player rankings ...

He was never out of *your* mind, anyway. This is so silly. Golf viewership suffers when Tiger isn't in the field...maybe because reporters have never bothered to talk about anyone other than Tiger. For myself, I hope he keeps losing...

He needs to win at least once before the Masters to have any momentum for the rest of the year, but it may not happen until Bay Hill.

Elling is such a joke. He spent the past year attacking Woods every chance he got. He's make sure he got a barb in on him even in the rare articles he wrote that had nothing to do with Tiger. And now he writes a piece as if he's some objective, reasonable person?

With Wood's recent surge, and relative consistency you hope we see him back for some back nine charges again. That is, and always has been the best part of Golf , ever, for entertainment value. A Tiger charge. But with him overhauling his game again, maybe his best strokes are behind him. Maybe he has to fine tune, as an aging pitcher does by throwing in more curves and using more finesse, taking more of the power game out. We'll see. The mental toughness, and killer instinct will always be there, plus he is in the heads of many of the young studs coming up. You can see it in their games. Some are starstruck, and don't even care where they are on the leaderboard if Woods is there. Woods will have issues, I just want to see him with his Tiger stripes, and bared teeth, homing down on the pack, or seperating from them.

Take Elling's "player's rankings" , 35 cents, and you can make a pay phone call. I suppose its more than 35 cents now. Do they even have pay phones anymore?

The hardest 5 inches in golf to master is not the distance from the ball to the cup for a tap in finish. It is the distance between your ears consisting of grey matter. You see time and again the golfer that blows up one week and then wins the next week. You have to be able to shut off the internal dialogue when the pressure mounts. You have to stay loose and the swing remains fluid. Any tension that causes an error in face angle at contact propels the ball off the target line. Couple that with tempo and speed fluctuations magnifies the errant shot. The ability to let go of bad rounds or even bad shots is tantamount to winning golf. Tiger, since he seems to be the focus of this article, apparently has lost this ability. The personal problems that still dog him along with the physical problems he may have recovered from still affect his ability to "groove" his swing. Add the fact that he has changed the "mechanics" of his swing makes it unlikely that it will hold up when the pressure builds up. His best chance to win will come when he has built up a comfortable or insurmountable lead after 54 holes. He needs to relearn to relax (not feel the pressure) during the final round to hold on. The likelyhood of a final round charge to come from behind borders on sheer fantasy. The point of Tiger being the oddsmakers' favorite on the early line for the Masters is one I find interesting. Could it be a reverse psychology ploy to stimulate some betting action? I hear that times are tough in Nevada, but don't imagine it is due to then losing a lot of money in the Casinos.

I really don't care that he had relations, and banged a small country of babes , and hotties ( He does have taste at least, did you see some of them chics ? ). What I do care about is to watch Tiger, as a spectator watches a good movie, read a good book, to be entertained by one of the greats of sport, on his turf, his court. Woods was the Jordan of Golf, the Mike Tyson of the Greens, with KO power in both fists, and the comeback energy of Eli Manning. No -one compared to him, and if it weren't for the physical toll the honey's and the grueling golf, and other schedules he set for himself, we would see all records obliterated. Leave him be, and lets hope he comes back to start Phase 2 of Tiger Domination.

Yeah Tiger will loosen up believe you me. Come grand slam events people will be tuning in. There is a bit of a buzz out there, and he did create a stir last year in those events he threatened at. Tiger got his thong going, or throng I should say. If there is a gallery to be had Tiger will wow em this year. Just Watch Him.

I must not be watching enough golf, because I don't know what Sergio has done to be mentioned as 7th here? The guy has been pretty irrelevant for awhile now. He must be keeping in the top 15 or 20 and I'm not noticing?

Wasn't Eldrick 'poised for his first win' in Dubai? LOL No matter where Eldrick is ranked, he WILL BE the center of attention. Pandering writers as Elling will always keep Eldrick in the forefront.....deserved or not. It's sad.

hcres11, Sergio got hot late last year, winning twice on the European Tour in October, and is playing solid so far this year.  He's back up to #16 in the world.  Easy to have missed it, though, if you switch from golf to football after the PGA Championship.

Mister Elling, I don't know if you read these comments or not (probably est for you if you don't!) but if you do, I wanted to ask what you think of this stat:

Some 40% of Tiger Woods' OWGR points come from just two events, the 2010 Chevron and the 2011 Chevron.  This is a limited-field event hosted by Woods himself and played each year on a course with which he is intimately familiar.  As well, this event takes place in December, when many competitors are in "offseason mode."  Putting aside that it is Woods who is benefiting, is it not odd that such a silly season event passes out OWGR points at all, much less to this degree?

If Tigers fighting his putter from now, and we've seen that killer before in others, he's not going to score well consistently. Winning a major when you're afraid to pull the putter out of the bag isn't going to happen. I'll be watching to see where he ranks in putting and what happens on Sundays.

Tiger woods is golf. Who else comes in 3rd place in that field 2 weeks ago and they say he didnt finish well. Never has there been a golfer that you expect to win every tournament he is in. Even those that hate him expect more. They are used to it accustomed to it.
