Then I feel sorry for you.
Why?  Because my selective memory allows me to look at things differently than your selective memory allows you?

If Elway would have worn number 3.141592 he would have been just as good.

Nah, he would just be pi then!

I've never really understood the idea of retiring a players number. It's just a number. If someone wears the same number as Elway and stinks-up the joint, it has no bearing on Elway whatsoever...or the number. It does not besmirch Elway's legacy in any way.

I totally agree.

Yep.  As soon as Orton was released, I became the happiest, most fun loving guy in town.

In my opinion, retiring a number isn't so much about the number or doing anything to Elway's legacy as much as it is a sign of respect for John Elway.

John Elway was known as #7.  From now all, he'll be the only Denver Bronco known as #7.

And don't think the significance of a football number is small.  Some players pay quite a big sum to get the number they want.

Not entirely true.  Did you know Craig Morton wore number 7 also?  Before you laugh too loud, BOTH players are in the Broncos ring of fame with the number 7?  Morton was in the Broncos ring of fame in 1988.  Before Elway, Morton was known as number 7 in Bronco football.

Too bad for Morton that he had one of his worst games in Denver's first super bowl.  Passing 4-15 for 39 yards and FOUR interceptions (Tebow like numbers?) did him in.

Now, don't get all master with me here.  I'm NOT saying Morton was as good as Elway (he's not).  I am saying, it's just a number and while I agree that it is a sign of respect for Elway to retire the number I don't think it's much in the big scheme of things.

Inaccurate.  Tebow like numbers are as follows:

Detroit: 18-39 179 yards 1 TD 1 Int 63 yards rushing.
New England: 11-22 194 yards 0 TD  0 int  93 yards rushing 2 rushing TD's
Buffalo: 13-29  185 yards 1 TD 3 ints  34 yards rushing 1 rushing TD.
Kansas City: 6-22 60 yards 0 TD 1 int 16 yards rushing
New England (PO): 9-26 136 yards 0 TD  0 ints  13 yards rushing.

Notice how I only gave his losses and worst games?  Even in Tebow's worst games he didn't throw 4 ints.  Even in Tebow's worst games, the threw for more than 39 yards.  And had some rushing yards to boot.

Get your stuff together GAG.  Orton is gone.  Time to get on the Tebow bandwagon.

Thanks for that.  But, this isn't about me.  This is about the world.  Ask anyone in the world who Denver Broncos #7 is and 9 out of 10 times they will say John Elway.

Thanks for completely missing my point.

Thanks for completely missing my point.

With you it is extremely easy to do!

Ask anyone in the world who Denver Broncos #7

And once again, most people in the WORLD would have no idea who #7 is (or was).  Nor do they care.  However, MOST football (USA) fans know who #7 Denver Broncos football is.  Even that however looks to be muddy waters.  Reading many comments from other teams fans (jealous?) a lot seem to think Elway was an average QB.

So, it's hard to take an entertainment avenue and be serious about it.  Except when you and I make a bet of course.

That's probably a fair statement.  But you'd be surprised how many Elway fans are in Japan, Great Brittan, Mexico...

Any fan that says that is either (1) a hater and trying to make you mad, or (2) one of those fans who forgets the past and always tries to make a current player the GOAT.

Any knowlegable football fan of any team knows Elway is one of the greatest of all time.

Naw, that one is too easy.

I may bet you that whatever team Orton ends up on wins more games than does Denver next year.  That is a REALLY sad bet too as it says how bad a QB Tebow was this past year.  Go back and watch that Chiefs game again and you will see.  Orton sucked yet still won, Tebow sucked and lost (again to Orton).

As I have said before, Tebow has not beat Orton at ANYTHING yet.  Could not beat him out as a rookie, could not beat out to start his second year, and could not beat him head to head.

And PLEASE don't think I'm back on the Orton bandwagon, I'm not.  Just saying that Tebow has so far to go, I'm not sure he can get there.

I think he's done... he reminds a bit of Reggie Bush when he was drafted and over his first couple seasons... lots of hype as an all purpose do everything running back.... Reggie atleast delivered the pass catching his first couple seasons (looks like he finally is playing besides the point)...anyway Moreno is like Reggie a bit, only he hasn't produced anything, not even catching balls, I think the Broncos could do a LOT better for the money.

If they don't draft anyone, I'd love to see the Broncos pick up Michael Bush in free agency and just pound the rock all day handing off between Willis and Michael and Tim... that would be an old school running game that could really wear out and demorilize defenses plus take pressure off Tim.

Draft O-line, draft more dbs, I love Champ, but not sure if he'll be worth the price tag next year.  Also, draft a beast for a blocking fullback.

Go Broncos in 2012!

Is this master?

What do you want to bet?  Cold drinks and a steak?  IF Tebow is not MUCH better at the start of the year (46-49% passing won't do it)., he won't even finish the year.

Sorry, I like the guy, LOVE what he brings in attitude, yet I think he's missing the mechanics  of passing.

Just being a realist, not a hater.

LoL!  Define it!  I just happen to think he's a better fullback/running back than QB.  There is NOTHING I hate about the guy.  I read where he's working out with some QB guru out here in L.A. Supposed to be the same one that he's worked with in the past.

That's the guy whos opinion I would like to hear, yet I'll bet he never gives out his true feeling on the mechanics.
