"Everyone" CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman talks to in the NFL believes Peyton Manning will sign with the Redskins if/when he reaches free agency.
"And I mean just about everyone," Freeman emphasized, without claiming inside information. This comes on the heels of a weekend report that two people close to Manning believe it's "very likely" he will end up with the Redskins. We have no doubt the Redskins (and Dolphins) will be hot on Manning's heels. Mike Shanahan can't afford another lost season, and the Skins have room under the cap to sign Manning and add talent on offense. The question is whether Manning's interest dovetails with conventional wisdom in the NFLi just cant see the Titans owner saying, get Manning when he has Hasselbeck and Locker as his QBs.Same here. They didn't move up to draft Jake Locker in front of us for no reason. I just saw that Peyton Manning apparently can't throw to his left yet...or maybe never again...so this may all be the typical offseason hype. RGIII would be our best bet if we can move up to the Vikings spot who I now believe is the only trade possible of happening for the Redskins to get him (unless something crazy happens like a trade to the Browns)...I just can't see the Rams trading down when Matt Kalil is on the board and they need a franchise tackle badly to replace at least one of those injury busts they have starting to protect Sam Bradford. He could be their next Orlando Pace.
LOL I am just throwing things out there to see what people say because I find it hilareous that anyone thinks they know where or if Peyton Manning will be playing football. If Peyton Manning is healthy, any team including the Titans led by the great Matt Hassleback would take him in a second. He is not healthy. All reports say that his neck is fine and he has no strength and no feel. He cannot even throw the ball to his left because he can't feel his arm as it crosses over. His nerves are dead. They may regenerate. Some day. But maybe not be fore the end of the summr or this year at all. He is either going to be a Colt or he is going to be throwing passes to his kids because if he is healthy, they will keep him.
For a month or so I was seriously considering how the draft should go etc. But no more. Until FA is over with it is not worth my time to try to figure out. We need to address OL, OL, OL, and WR. If we do that we don't need tp spend 25M on a Peyton Manning at 50%. Depending on what we address in FA maybe its ok to use picks to move up. Right now it is not as we still need all out picks to fill holes in the team. I am not a Griffin fan. He is unproven. He played in a second teir conference and had one really great year. Indianapolis is not drafting him either. They are drafting Luck or trading out of the spot if Peyton makes a miraculous recovery in the next few months. Id he drops to us then you have to take him I guess. If he doesn't and we haven't addressed the starting QB position in FA, then you pick the best of the rest and take him in the second round while filling a need at CB or WR probably with the 6th pick. Or trade back into later in the first, pick up a pick, and draft your guy late in the first to make sure someone doesn't snatch him away like last year.
But until FA is out of the way and you see what your team looks like the day before the draft, it is just speculation and not worth the time.
