Welcome to the Monterey Peninsula and the A T & T Pebble Beach Pro Am. Some consider the 18th hole at Pebble Beach the finest finishing hole in golf but a funny thing the famous par five wasn't a par 5 to begin with. When Pebble opened in 1919 the 18th was a short straight par four measuring 325 yards. The topographic map from then shows the green just in front of a deep ravine, with the Pacific on the left and a toll road called 17 Mile Drive, soon relocated, close on the right. Due to limited funds a proposed oceanside tee to make the hole 379 yards long wasn't built at that time. However a year later under the advice of golf architect W. Herbert Fowler it was built. Then just one year later under the criticism of the California Golf Assoc. that Pebble still had a poor finishing hole Fowler was brought back again and this time Fowler suggested filling in the ravine, building a sea wall and backfilling a new green location some 170 yards farther up the shoreline, turning the hole into a boomerang-shape par 5. Thereby creating what some consider the finest finishing hole in golf. By the way if the 18th green someday collapses into a trench don't fault an earthquake, there is a culvert that runs under it. Will we have a spectacular finish on one of the most famous finishing holes ever built and who will conquer the 18th at Pebble to become this years A T & T Pebble beach Pro Am winner.
Hey Dutch...I thought you had gone AWOL this week?? Here are the bookies thoughts. Woods is a firm favorite. I can't say I'd be tempted at 5/1. Those are rubbish odds.
Maybe this is the time to bet on John Huh... @ 80/1 he looks attractive.

Hey Larry Yes there are some real good people on the B1G kinda reminds ya of the B & G a year ago. Did ya make it out and play last weekend and if ya did I'll say this You Lucky Sled Dog You. EH
well I take it LL is lead'n this thang or at the very least ride'n ILG's skirt'em'tails!! I don't know how any of ya can pick winners these days. Seems some new face is hold'n the trophy more often than not which I happen to like see'n..good for the game and fun to watch'em!!
Good luck y'all, Dutch my man another fine intro and Noko's has done his usual good info for y'all in the bookie's odds! I'd question some of the odds but who knows these days!!
You'd better be very careful as you continue in the league. It starts with idle pleas of broken computers; then later on things begin to appear as voodoo dolls and special POX's. Be on the look-out . . . that sweet ILG will sneak-up on you when you least expect it.
Jimmy, Let's say, LL is too close for comfort if I want to stay in the lead. LOL But so is VC, Esox and a few others. They are "Mov'n up at a fast rate of speed!
I'm closing-in on retirement [ of course, I've been doing that for years, now ], yet I'm busier than ever. . . . go figure! I stop by these threads to catch-up on reading . . . generally don't post until something really trips the trigger, than I'm brutally honest, now. I follow you around and enjoy reading what you have to say.
I've given everyone a very solid head start this year by missing the first week . . . but I will do everything in my power to attain the top spot from al you ahead of me [ which just happens to be everyone right now ].
Larry - THIS IS THE YEAR.... I know you're gonna stop keeping score and focus on your enjoyment, be conservative, and when said-n-done you'll surprise yourself.
