QBs and how it could effect the roster, Curiosty

no honorable mention for Robert Brooks?  Favre would beg to differ...
Oh how could I be so remiss.  I would never leave out Mr. Brooks.  He was just as integral in that offense as well.  Good catch, TD

Truth be told, Sterling Sharpe was probably the only true #1 WR Favre ever played with in GB....Similiar to Peyton Manning, Brett Favre had the ability to make "stars" out of average WR's....As long as you can catch it, Brett is going to put it on ya....

We need a QB like that!  If we had a Manning or Favre or Steve Young Wink like QB, there's not a doubt in my mind that Mo Mass would be considered a solid NFL WR....Problem is, other than a couple flashes with Kelly Holcombe and Derek Anderson, the Cleveland Browns haven't had a guy that can get the ball there since Vinny Testaverde was here with the "old" Browns....

It just shows you how hard they are to come by....Franchise QB's don't grow on trees.  When you have an opportunity to get a QB that's "special", you grab him....It'll be the biggest shock in the world IMO if the Browns don't address the QB position...Then again, I'm already shocked at how many Browns fans there seem to be that think we should stick with McCoy as option #1....(and I think all of them post here at CBS.Wink)....Seriously, most of the Browns fans I know didn't even care when they weren't televised in central Ohio last season....That's how bad it was!   Take out the Indy game, and the entire season was one big yawnfest..And we all know how "good" the Colts were....Other than Brady Quinn's epically bad Browns of 2009, I've never seen a worse NFL offense....We scare nobody.  Defenses LOVE to play us.....Yet after over 20 NFL starts, and back to back 5-11and 4-12 seasons, Colt McCoy still has his supporters....Most citing that we are so weak as a team overall, that anybody would struggle to do better...

so we'll see what happens...

I know this much....If our "QB GURU" team president is content with our current situation then the Browns are in big trouble for years to come....but I'm not worried about that....This team doesn't make plays....Football isn't that hard to figure...There's little doubt that Holmy is thinkin QB.....

I think  #2 sounds much better but don't think either one is going to happen. I don't know why everyone thinks we have to give up #22 to move up. We only gave up a 2nd to move up for winslow (which I thought was too high myself). If Griffin does impress them I might give up the 2nd this time but not much more. I'd rather take my chances. He might still fall to four who knows. How do you see us getting an extra pick for moving down to 6? If that's the case why wouldn't we get Griffin ourselves. If they really think Griffin is that good then you take a franchise qb but other than that my first choice is trade down for the value of more picks or take the best talent regardless of position in the first.

It's much easier to give lower value for a TE IMO.  I know Winslow was deemed "special" by pedigree coming out of The U and being Kellen, Sr.'s son made the trade value increase.  I have no doubt other teams had him pretty much center on their radar, but again he was a TE.
With multiple teams looking to posssibly procure his services, the price might be driven upwards.  Hopefully, if two firsts are due for this transaction, they make the (2nd) 1st one from 2013.  But I have a tendency to agree with you to a point though, Birdbrain, that the bidding should start with a first and possibly a second.
We might not have to give up #22.  Problem is none of the teams in the fray will have all the cards available to them.  I could see it possibly getting ugly.  Hopefully Shurmur still has some friends in St. Loius who will play him straight as far as negotiations.  That is one leg up I think the Browns do have as they play in separate conferences and divisions.   Don't go dismissing the fact that Shurmur is likeable in this case.  It might not work in his favor in Cleveland, but it goes a long way in personnel, coaching, and front office circles.

Good point lbg, never considered this...

No discount, but certainly could give us a leg up on knowing what other teams are offering.
