I disagree 100%. UK is loaded but it is still a college team. The NBA has the best of the best. If you call competitive for an NBA team 20-62 in a regular season then ok...Kentucky can compete in the watered down NBA.

UK has 6 NBA players on it!

Yeah, and every team in the NBA has twice that many.  UK is a good squad but gets destroyed in the NBA.

This argument was actually brought up on Kentuckysportsradio.com recently. They compared Kentucky and the Rimberwolves to see who would win, knowing that Minnesota is one of the worst NBA teams, and it was still no comparison. Minnesota would kill them. Even though Minnesota sucks, their players have been in the NBA, playing against NBA competition for quite a while.

My feeling is that if these two played, and Minnesota spotted Kentucky 20, Minnesota would still win by 10.

Kinda silly to compare them to the worst team in the NBA....who had Bosh and other good talent just last season. Any college team in any season would get blasted in the NBA, probably not even win 10 games.

The Worst NBA team has 14 NBA players. The best college team might have 5 NBA players. The game would not even be competitive. This is the stupidest thread ever. The Indiana Pacers win by 45 points if the Hoosiers can beat them.

Yeah because Daniel Orton, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Liggins, and John Wall are all really tearing it up in the NBA this year... NOT! Orton barely plays, Cousins is an over-hyped under-performing dive, the same can be said about Wall, Bledsoe's lucky to see the court in LA, and Liggins has played exactly 0 NBA minutes. Brandon Knight is probably the best NBA player at this point out of all the recent Wildcats to enter the league, and he's averaging just 12.5 PPG and 3.4 APG. Wow, I know I want the superstar of my Wildcat NBA squad to be putting up those eye-poping numbers. I guess Josh Harrellson's (not a John Calipari recruit) 5.3PPG could be nice off the bench for this hypothetical NBA team. My point is, that UK has been goof for some time under Calipari but all of the previous BIG recruits he's pulled in who are trying their hand at the NBA level (early I might add, in their defense they're all very young) are taking some time to mature and develop, as would a team filled with even younger 18-year old stars. All of that said, this years UK team might pull off a win here or there in the NBA but they'd be bottom feeders in either conference. If you think otherwise you're seriously kidding yourself.

The cellar dwellers of NBA are made up of the best of the best college (and international) players who happened to compete plenty times with groups of best of the best in NBA. Haven't we seen enough of what happens to MOST top drafts when they join the NBA? Their weaknesses get exposed immediately and they must develop over time or be considered busts. Now you bring in maybe 4 or 5 of those to compete with seasoned 14 NBA players (albeit cellar dwellers) and tell me it's a fair competition. Please!

First, your feeling is correct.  I'm glad your not a dilusional Kentucky fan who thinks they would have a sliver of a chance.  They would get beat by 30-40.
Second, Kentucky is absolutely loaded and will most likely have more than few players on that team will have NBA careers.  But that is in the future, not as of today.
Here's my problem, Do people in Kentucky watch the NBA? the Timberwolves were one of the worst NBA teams.  They are now 13-12 with a winning record on the road in the NBA.  They have 2 potential if not already Stars in the NBA in Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio.  The fact that this web site is using Minnesota as a comparison out of all NBA teams immediately loses their credibility.

No college team could ever compete with a pro team. This is kind of a silly debate.

They only beat ODU by 10 and they lost to Indiana not the Pacers but the Hoosiers. They would get destroyed by an NBA team. What a stupid post.

The only question I have after reading this is: when is Anthony Davis going to do something about that eyebrow. Holy crap, that thing looks like a bat.

Anthony Davis would be thrown around like a children's toy in the NBA. Why don't you save this column for when he shows he can handle Festus Ezeli or Renardo Sidney? What did he do so well offensively against Tyler or Cody Zeller? 13 total points in both games combined? WOW! Color me impressed!

Well Duh. But he wasn't really saying they would beat the whole NBA, just some of the weaker teams. And yes, If the UK Wildcats played any of those teams, they would very likely get beat I agree with that. It would be because of the age/maturity difference, and it's a different game in the NBA that they aren't used to yet. Also, any team that played against a college team would take their game up a notch because of how it would look to lose to a bunch of college kids. But what about this? If you put UK's guys in the Washington Wizards uniforms, then played them against the Bobcats or the T-Wolves, you might get the same half azzed effort out of those teams you're seeing now on any given Tuesday, and if they didn't know they were playing college kids, there would be no reason for them to play any better, or suck any worse, than they do now. So it's not totally unreasonable, just a huge stretch, and on a given night thing. There is a tremendous amount of talent there, it just remains to be seen how fast it progresses and then translates into success in the pros. What I'd be more concerned with in college sports is why some big name high schools have teams that really could compete against half the college teams out there. Cool

Are you kidding? That eyebrow why he's such a great shot blocker! Everytime he looks up he sees that giant bat coming at him and tries to swat it away.. Cool

The latter number is 5th in the NBA. He is also 2nd in the NBA in offensive rebounds at 4.3 per game and 3rd with 17 double-doubles, Only Dwight Howard and Kevin Love have more double-doubles.
