LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -

This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.

THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!

PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, NBA, Soccer, MLB, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.

RULES FOR POSTING -

We take it upon ourselves to donate our time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. We will not track your LOCKs if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, we won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.

- Post only 1 LOCK per day.  You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week.  A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday.  Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL.  You do not have to stay in one sport.  Spread them around if you like.

- No "buying" points for LOCKS.

- We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit . If the LOCK is not posted within 30 minutes of the scheduled CBS start time the LOCK will not count.

- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc

- First half or mini lines are OK.  No second half or quarter lines. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.   

- No parlays. Period.

- Props are OK as long as you give a site where we can check the line.

- Hockey, baseball, and soccer plays need to be -129 or better.  No HUGE favorites for LOCKS.  Anything -130 and over, take the -1.5 goals or runs if you feel like it is still a LOCK.

- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.

- LOCKs MUST be posted 30 minutes before the time CBS says the game is set to go off, anything less than 30 minutes the LOCK will not count.

And, THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!

You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on the said team.

FEB 9 LOCKS

Hello LOCKers!  On a very good run right now so I will get this one posted before the line starts to climb because I expect it to quite a bit tomorrow throughout the day.  Getting this one in tonight could save you a point or more.

Play for Thursday (NOT A LOCK!) is UCLA (-6.5) over Stanford.  UCLA is playing better and has ideas aout making the NCAA Tournament.  They aren't going to, but they think they still can.  Stanford is struggling after a good start and has padded their record at home while struggling on the road, having only played 7 road games all year and going 3-4.  The Cardinal are really a one-man team in Owens, and its not like he is an unstoppable force or anything.  I think Howland will have a good plan to slow down the Stanford "attack" that put up 43 at home in their last game vs. Arizona.  At the same time, UCLA has a balanced attack and has a decided advantage on the perimeter where Stanford is a little weak.  UCLA also has a size and depth advantage and should have no real problem getting ahead in this game and then pulling away as it goes along.  Get this line tonight if you can for best value but I still think UCLA whould win by 15+.  Good luck everyone.

If your a Heels fan, like myself, what transpired Wed. in the last 2-minutes of the game, cannot get any worse! Typical Roy Williams, never making the correct adjustments. You've got two "towers" inside with Zeller and Henson. You have to force Duke to try and dump it inside, and gaurd the perimeter, no matter how far out they go. He doesn't do that, Duke fires up 36 treys, and of course the rest is history. Now let me spew some sour grapes. Coach "K's" new style of offense, bomb threes all night and hope for the best, is really impressive. Swing the ball around the perimeter until someone has any sort of look, and let it fly. Hope that when it doesn't go in, it comes off "wildly" and you have a good chance at an offensive rebound, pure genious.. Anyway the better team won tonight. Went 2-0-1, on posted plays. Witchita St.-10, was easy, same with O.D.U.  FIRST HALF -6.5. My Heels pushed -3, first ten minutes. Overall a good night. Cannot seem to find the time to appear more often,( I'm working on that). Stiil appreciate the work Mantle and Killtee do, day after day keeping the thread alive. Think there are alot more good people, than bad. I could mention tons of names I look for and respect, but that would take forever. You all know who you are. Let's all strive to use the thread for what it's purpose is, and in the end we'll be beetter off. GL. to you all. Keeep the insight and info coming in.

I went 2-3 on posted plays yesterday and have been kind of cold of late so feel free to fade away. My record stands at 53-49 (2 Unit Plays) and 4-1 (Locks, 5 Unit plays) and am currently 3-6 (2 Unit Plays) for the week. I will look over the card and see if I have any plays.

DENVER U -1....This team has taken some bad beats this year and lost a couple of tough road games lately. But, tonight will not be one of them. When they lost at ARK LR and ULL  it was no surprise to me because they had a bad history at those arenas. Denver has a good record vs this team.

NM ST -1...NMST is 12-3 SU as a road fav of 3 to a pk and Idaho is 5-18 SU as a home dog of 3 to a pk. Also, NMST has a 17-3 SU record vs Idaho since 1997.

Well,sorry for another lock loser by me. Sunderland should have taken a 2 goal leador gone ahead after the 1-1 score ,but a defender off the line and the woodwork pevented that. Can't believe it didn't happen in regular time with all the bodies missing foe Boro.

Youngstown State -1. Butler's only road wins in the past month have been against bottom dwellers in the conference, both CHI. Teams. Not only that, there other road losses to the btter teams in conference, have also been loses ATS. Youngstown is 7-2 at home this year. Throw in the fact, that Butler kicked the snot out of Youngstown by 16, and I always love revenge games, when the better team is home. GL. Do your own research.

leaning Minn PK over Wisc as of right now....big ten home game and Minn has been playing pretty good ball. They had a couple nice wins and close losses.

I have found a play that I really like:

LOCK  Wisconsin/Minnesota  OVER 114  5 Units

I know that you probably think that I am crazy locking an over in Wisconsin game, especially in the big ten but I love this play for a variety of reasons. The first reason why I like this team is that although Wisconsin plays stingy Defense, they give up around 5 pts more a game on the road then at home. The last ten times these two teams have played the total has never been set lower then 120 and the total has gone over 120 7 times during that span. 2 of the three times that it didn't go over 120 were in games that were blowout wins for Wisconsin which brings me to the last reason why I like this game. I expect this game to be within one or two posessions throughout and with the strong possibilty of fouls at the end and maybe even OT. I look for this game to end in the 60's with Minnesota pulling off the slight upset at home. Minnesota 65-64.

Was looking at that game. Besiktas haven't scored a goal in their last 3 matches. They are also going to be without Almeida and Quaresma. What has prompted you to take the over?

BIG PLAY - NC STATE -4

Huge game for the wolfpack for tournament purposes tonight in gatech plus a huge revenge game. Ga tech won at nc state so look for the wolfpack to return the favor here against a pathetic ga tech team who could barely beat bc at home.


RIDER -5


Canisius at home has lost to loyola md by 18 st peters by 14 manhattan by 12 and niagara by 19. rider already beat them by 24 earlier so i dont see whats changed since then. Rider coming off emotional victory so look for that to carry over here.


CAL -7.5

USC JUST PLAIN STINKS!  At home usc has lost by 24 to colorado 17 to ucla 11 to zona 9 to zona st. i see an angry cal team looking to make a statement tonight moving forward as they state their case for the tournament. Usc played them close in cal but i dont see that here.  cal by 10+


TENN ST. +11

Murray st. is 23-0 so all the pressure is on them here. Tenn st. is playin well right now and should be able to stay within the number today.
