We are in route to 20 games won on the year, and columbass has only won 15 games total. Why wouldnt Nash want to bail?

I think Nash would look good with the Winged Wheel. He be a big tough center for us. Add some physical to our game.

Nash will never be in a winged wheel sweater anytime soon, Nash is a HUGE cap hit which we could not take, plus he would take a ton of players/draft picks to come over. And lastly, what team is going to trade its Captain to a rival team inside their Division. That is like sending "The Perfect Human" to Chicago or St. Louis. Nash is a great player, and I do love his way of play, but the chances he comes to Detroit is basically nil.

Rick Nash is Over-rated. Don't need that albatross of a contract on the WIngs roster.

What's with the Nash talk? Let him rot in Columbus. Nothing good comes out of there... For a Cup run, I think the Wings could acquire Iginla and not sacrifice a lot. He'd get excited for the opportunity and provide a lot of muscle.

Lol @ the picture caption. The puck went into the net cleanly and quickly on the shot. That's a shot of it bouncing back out again, not trickling in. If only the people who wrote the captions actually watched the game.

Cleary was hurt because of the hit into the open door. Not intentional just sad the door was open at the time. Nash wont be a wing because whomever we trade we will have to see for a while. whethere its draft picks or players we will seee them. Refs when a player is cross checked into the goalit thats a call against the person doing to cross check and you have to play the puck for it to be to many men. Next the longer Mcdonald can play well the longer Howard has to heal. Keep it up kid

Lol @ Zetterberg's shot trickles into the net. Is it that hard to watch a three minute highlight to see how each goal was scored?

Shhhhhh, let's not talk about it.    It should also be noted that Detroit gave up their future for him.

They lost Anders Eriksson (terrific number 8 defenseman) their no 23 overall pick in 99 (hawks took the great Steve McCarthy, damn, they passed on Commodore that year), and the number 1 in 2001.   Hawks took Adam Munro with that pick and his 17 games NHL career doesn't get enough appreciation.

Wings might have just squeaked out ahead with that trade.   Wings got the cup again a couple years later, and the Hawks took a giant leap to the dumpster.

Fine win. The Oiler's play has been impressive; especially against the Hawks and Wings. Great to see Hank finally get #10, even though it just "trickled in". As for Nash. The Wings would have to give up way too much...my concern is seeing Conklin anywhere near the bench come the end of February-beginning of March.

Word on the street is that if the Wings keep winning, they will have a chance to break the record against the Flyers at home. The Flyers are the ones who hold the record of 20. That would be a cool scenario!

Ya, it would be cool, but this is a classic example of a record (if set) that needs an asterisk. The two teams that already have done 20 in a row did it without the benefit of shootouts.

That being said, bring on the damn *

I like the thought of getting Igilna for the playoff push.  The guy has an amazing game and wold really help out the Wings.  Have a second line of Fil/Hank/Igilna would just be scary.

The more that Joey plays, the better i think he is getting.  If he can hold down the fort for the next week or so, Jimmy will be able to get a good rest in before that last final push.

Anyway the Wings can land a guy like Bobby Ryan or Corey Perry from the Ducks???

You can only play in the era that you play in.

Flyers also hold the record for longest undefeated streak, which now might never be broken under the current system because there are no ties, and the Flyers 35 game undefeated streak is a line that is 25-0-10.

Red Wings win 18th straight at home

February 9, 2012 12:10 pm

The Wings would only tie the record set by both the Flyers and Bruins. They have 18 straight home wins and the Flyers/B's both had 20 straight in previous years. They play the Ducks tomorrow and the Flyers on Sunday, so that would only be 20 if they win both.

I agree with Lulz, though. It was much more impressive 36 years ago to get 20 straight wins on home ice than it is now. I'd say a 11 or 12 game home winning streak would be more impressive back in the 70s and 80s than a 20 gamer now.

I don't think it'll happen, though. I think the Wings beat the Ducks and lose to the Flyers to snap the win streak at 19. Call it a hunch more than anything, but I'm thinking the Flyers will come in to Detroit with a good effort just to snap the streak before the Wings tie the record.
